What we know as Tribal Style Belly Dance today was actually started by Jamila Salimpour in the 1960's, director and creator of Bal Anat. Caroleena Nericcio of Fat Chance Belly Dance did not start Tribal Style Belly Dance. It was named "American Tribal Style Belly Dance" by Caroleena but it most certainly was not of her creation. I can supply sources for this information upon request.
