  • Superb!!!!!

  • I declare, that looks a lot like Jerry Douglas on mandolin! Wow- Aubridge and DOuglas?

  • @gaiusdrusus That would be Sam Bush on the mandolin.

  • @gaiusdrusus you should have your eyes checked. that's SAM BUSH on mandolin.

  • Lyel.. you are so smooth and cool.

  • I cant hear anything but music the vocals are good but you can't hjear them too much amplification

  • That's Gene Elders on the 5-string fiddle.

  • Thanks a lot for letting me know who the fiddle player is. I`ve added a link to Gene`s site in the info section.

  • Wow, I just discovered this... two of my all-time favorite singers on the same stage. Wonderful.

  • Two of my favorite country singers. Awsome.

  • Alton and Robon did not write More Pretty Girls; besides they recorded it as the Arthur Smith Trio- so Arthur should get credit.

It was recorded many times before the

Delmores and version are found as early as 1909.

  • Thanks for commenting on the clip. Everything I have been able to find points to the fact that Alton Delmore and Fiddlin` Arthur Smith wrote the song. Could you suggest where I can find earlier versions of the song? I would love to credit the true writers if it isn`t Alton Delmore and Arthur Smith. Thanks.

    Tony

  • I love this old song - my mom had a collection of The Delmore Brothers' songs and their harmony is wonderful. Lyle sounds great here and his Large Band along with Allison Krauss are great. The dobro and mandolin player are super and add just the right sound to this classic. The old songs are so pleasant to listen to - it's hard to find the truly meaningful ones these days. Thank you for posting. Paula

  • alison is beautiful and her voice is angelic oh and lyle is just the best!!!!!!!

  • If I'm not mistaken, I believe the bass player is Alison's brother, Viktor, who has played with Lovett for many years.

  • Right you are. Good call.

  • more fretty song than one. bravo! lovett and krausso...kraussou...krauss...

  • Sam Bush plays a great solo here - the crosspicking is really nice. Lyle's band always wears dark suits - funny to see Sam in a suit here, he is usually wearing something like a tie dyed tshirt.

  • HAHA...he missed on Leadbelly, too...he was from Louisiana.

    Hi Debby...John

  • "Huddie Ledbetter (Leadbelly) was born on 15 January (in some sources on Jan. 21), 1888, by Caddo Lake near Shreveport, Louisiana. He grew up in Louisiana and Texas, where his family moved when he was five. He always considered himself a Texan."

So why would Lyle say anything to the contrary - and Leadbelly having the choice - who wouldn't choose Texas? - short of yourself I'm sure!! Ha Ha

  • More Pretty Girls Than One was written by Alton and Rabon Delmore of the Delmore Brothers

  • That would be dobro legend, Mike Auldridge. Good stuff!

  • Thanks for that information. I hope the wonderful Mr Auldridge will pardon my ignorance.
