I do not know why but it made me sadder when his walking stick was broken... rather then when he "ascended". The stick was like watching him die again... and how much it must have hurt shifu to see it be broken. Really though Oogway was probably the best character in the whole movie...

Dreamworks did a fantastic job on having the audience become so attached to the grand master, feeling as if he indeed were an old friend. I feel attachment happens while you watch him interact with other characters. The way he speaks to them, guides them, and with his passing accompanied by such passionate music, you can't help but to shed a tear.

This is only my opinion, how I feel about the scene. Bravo Dream Works, bravo Hans and John

Even though Oogway was only in it for like the first 1/3rd or so of it, just from the way he interacted with Shifu and the others, you could tell he was dearly loved by all of them, making his passing/ ascension so moving, helped of course by this breathtaking musical composition.

As long as Dreamworks can continue making wonderful films like this and "How to Train Your Dragon," they'll be able to provide some good competition for Pixar.
