Contra is not hard. As long as you know how to handle a few of the tricky parts. I can pick that game up anytime and beat it without dying once. Blaster Master is still hard simply because it is so tedious and long, but as you said, that score for it is catchy and awesome. The PS1 Blaster Master is actually really good also. Batman is damn difficult. It has taken me many playthroughs to master it.

Contra? Contra was/is easy. Kung Fu was/is tedious and just sux. The only difficulty of Nintendo was the sticky controls, lag and enemies hitting you before they popped out of the corner of the screen.
Yeah, Contra had super slick controls and as long as you sort of knew what to expect you could demolish everything in seconds with a spread shot. A lot of NES games I find have their difficulty seriously exaggerated, mostly due to gamers nowadays being spoiled; they don't expect to have to actually practice a game in order to beat it.

Contra should not be number 10. I beat the game with out the 30 men code. Of course that was after I used it but the point is I did it. The other games after Contra I have to agree with though they are very difficult.
@bsx121, Great competition, there were several asians in my area that were top notch players during the SFII era, I was just an average in my neck of the woods at the time and I honestly have to say the most impressive players I've seen in terms of sheer overall knowledge and talent I've seen in Puerto Rico, not neccesarily worldly known popularity wise since it's just a passionate past time, but maaaan I've seen some gifted holy hands out there, asians and I (being moddest) were neck n neck.
They need to make another full 3d Blaster Master and do it really good this time. The tank should have full 360 degree controls as if your playing a human in 3rd person (which would make gameplay stand out as old school in 3d as well), but with realistic tank/vehicular movements that don't bog gameplay. Caves are set up like the original too. Lastly, bosses start with the alarm, maybe even ripped from the NES, then the BG goes black and all you can see is you and the monster fighting!

The enemies in Blaster Master don't respawn when you "leave the frame"; they respawn when you goe to a new area or enter one of the top-down sections. Leaving the frame DOES cause blocks to respawn, though.
Castlevania III was hard as hell compared to the second of the series but I didn't think it was THAT hard. The trick is to use the pirate instead of Alucard (Alucard is a bitch in that game).

Actually, many NES games were increased in difficulty for their American releases. This was done to make them "last" longer, giving players more "value" for their money.
Thankfully, that practice has long hence died out.
Man, I remember beating Contra for the first time. Hell, the game was new, and I didn't even know about the Konami code at the time. It felt like a real achievement.
Beating both Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden 2 (without any cheats, walkthroughts, or anything) probably felt even harder, though.
Now? I don't have an NES any more, and I can't play these games like I used to besides. Otherwise I'd like to try out Batman and Blaster Master... which I've never played to this day. They look great.
No cheating just knowing where to shoot, when to duck and lie down. Just keep moving.
Each end Boss has sequences of jumps , running and ducking so you won't even get hit. So shut up until you learn how to play the game with no cheat codes and do it with 1 life.
I'm sorry, Kung Fu sucked balls. Does not deserve to be on this list.

Might as well start over if you lose to the Joker? WHY? I've fought the Joker, REPEATEDLY. Two things to keep in mind.
1: You have infinite continues, but no password system. Turning it off means starting the ENTIRE GAME over again.
2: Even if you DO run out of powerups, you can kill the enemies in 5-1 and replenish them.

@Galaxiebaker Listen man, I used to be the same as you. Hating on The Game Heroes cause of Handsome Tom leaving. Then I realized, he's still doing shit, just not with Screwattack. They both produce quality entertainment. Show a little class. They don't hate on each other. Can't the fans just unite?

The enemies in Blaster Master don't respawn when you "leave the frame"; they respawn when you goe to a new area or enter one of the top-down sections. Leaving the frame DOES cause blocks to respawn, though.

Castlevania III was hard as hell compared to the second of the series but I didn't think it was THAT hard. The trick is to use the pirate instead of Alucard (Alucard is a bitch in that game).

nes games were made for asians and we all know they kick ass at vid games. If you were around in the early 90's the asians would kick your ass in the arcades! No one could beat them at mortal kombat 1!

Actually, many NES games were increased in difficulty for their American releases. This was done to make them "last" longer, giving players more "value" for their money.
Thankfully, that practice has long hence died out.

Man, I remember beating Contra for the first time. Hell, the game was new, and I didn't even know about the Konami code at the time. It felt like a real achievement.
Beating both Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden 2 (without any cheats, walkthroughts, or anything) probably felt even harder, though.
Now? I don't have an NES any more, and I can't play these games like I used to besides. Otherwise I'd like to try out Batman and Blaster Master... which I've never played to this day. They look great.

No cheating just knowing where to shoot, when to duck and lie down. Just keep moving.
Each end Boss has sequences of jumps , running and ducking so you won't even get hit. So shut up until you learn how to play the game with no cheat codes and do it with 1 life.
