Wow, glad to see so many people remembering Medusa's!! It was without a doubt the best dance club I've ever been to. I also had good times at Smart Bar as well as Neo, but Medusa's was a magical experience.
so sad though ,i was a medusas child also and probably have passed you in a bar,but so said to say i went back to chicago ,hadnt been back since 94 , took our 9 year old daughter to see the alley medusa ,berlin smart bar etc. but only to be sickened that medusa had been torn down and replaced with modern condos ,i wanted to cry and then to find out that the (new medusa) had been closed and moved to elgin.medusas was a big part of my life and i will always have the memories.......
I love how someone put up this song and everyone in the Comments says Medusa's. I realize it was the club's theme song. So glad so many people still appreciate it as such. But, anyway, question: Is this song by the same guy from Data and the Sailors?
If you want custom mixes with this music form the Medusa days contact me and we can work something out. I even Dj'd at Medusa's one night for Teri Bristol when she was sick. This is not the 12" original mix. This is from the Razormaid Atrocity Set.
Anyone looking for this kind of music, I have it all. Contact me.
I assembled the BEST DJ crew for this NEW WAVE event..3/12/2011 At Dolce in Chicago
We will bringing back New Wave & Industrial music from the 80's & 90's. Yaz, Erasure, New Order, Depeche Mode, Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Ministry Etc..bringing in the memories of Medusa Night Club, Shelter, Crobar, China Club, Cairo Etc.... Advance ticket $15.00 Door $20.00
Medusa's...Those were the days! I'm so glad I grew up during that time. The music of our generation, the coolness of it all. Nothing can compare, NOTHING! Damn, now I'm crying.
I remember after late knighting Medusa till 8 am dancing to this, Yello, Yaz, P.I.L. and John Rocca, waiting up till noon to hit Wax Trax in my pajama's, to talk to Missy Reynolds upstairs...zoned.
Medussa's was the place to be. Great times and this was the song of Medussa's. I've been djing since 84 and there haven't been any better time since Medussa's. I still have this record. My boy Jesse De La Pena was the dj. AWESOME SONG
and the whole night you would dance somewhere near her while all of the great songs would come on one after another and by morning you had her number. LOL. I rememer I had to go up to the Dj a million times a night to ask Teri "What was that song?!" and the next day I'd be out at Gramophone Records looking for it.
It was AWESOME! It was DARK and what was great was every week they changed the set design of the floor so it was always something different. I remember the stairs that went up to the second floor overlooking the main dance floor, there you would see and feel the energy, or some hot goth, new wave girl wold walk by and give you the look in your eyes
I remember my first time, 1985 it was and I was 16 turning 17, but not yet and could not get into the LATE NIGHT until my birthday, so I climbed the back fire escape over the garbage cans and came through the exit door while my friend let me in. I felt like I was doing wrong but at the same time as I snuck in, I could feel the pounding bass of the huge speakers they had on the floor while Teri Bristol
3257 N. Sheffield...Medusas in Chicago R.I.P. =( The people who knew you will never forget you. I think everyone at one point in their life mourn a club or bar they loved to hang out in that is now closed.
Gosh, this certainly bring backs lots of memories- Medusa Days!!!! Anyone remember Fashion by No Name or Singing in the Shower by Les Rita M., or anything by Book of Love ??? Oh how i missed New Wave music
Medusa! Let's not forget early Smart Bar, dripping ceiling pipes and sawdust on the floor!. Thanks to Rich Grazioli for putting this on a mix tape I have till today! Stella and Debbie for my 21st 25 years ago at SM!
Awesome MEDUSA best time of my life and still miss it after all this years, my sis and i have been looking for this song. Finally we can die happy. And hello to all those people that would go to the upstairs and request all those cool videos. Follow by the gathering at Dunkin D for boyfriend hunting. LOL
Medusa's... my god, I probably once knew all of you. Kimiko? Kurt? Chris? Nathan? Tim and Michelle? Lara F B?
Yeah, we'd dance to this, then upstairs to the video room, and Les Rita Mitsuko videos, then go back downstairs, and maybe, maybe RevCo? And the drive home at 4am.
As a gold [and then later black] card carrying member of Medusa's I gotta tell you - there has been NO CLUB that has matched the coolness and the awesomeness. Limelight, at times, put forth a valiant effort, then Shelter a bit later, but both had nothing on the best club experience that was Medusa's.
I've been to clubs in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and Seattle and none of them could match Medusa. Dancing or just hanging out there was so much fun.
Oh man I remember going to Medusas back in the day. I loved that place. I can't believe others remember this song and that they used to play it there.
Definitely one of the most memorable tracks played at Medusas. Another excellent track that reminds me of this long gone era is "Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag". Check it out.
medusas was the best, i don't think they have anything now that even compares to that vibe. i can't beleive they turned it into condos. who remembers front 242 head hunter? that was usually on the playlist as well.
Wow!!! too damn cool, I can't believe the memories this song brings back and someone mentioned McGreevys(thank you). Those of you who remember Medusas should know the killer seen at Dreamerz and Artful Dodger!
I love this song although I never went to medusa's. All we had here in Houston was Numbers. They never played this sing although the DJ claimed to have it:( I play this song whenever I DJ though:) 5/5 Given good song choice to upload!
I was also a medusa "member" those were the days! sure it was a juice bar!I can't believe the whole thing is available to listen to. My sister and my friends were there every weekend-our first stop was walgreen's then it was off to medusa's!
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I've been looking all over for this song!!! FINALLY!!! I have this song on a tape I recorded off the radio in the 80's that was mixed by Terry Bristol I think, not sure. But it had New Order following this song.
I feel the same way, I was at Medusa's just about every weekend and for some of the concerts. It was a blast there! In fact I saw Ministry and Revolting Cocks there! This music brings back great memories, some fuzzy! Thanks for posting!
HOLY S!!!. I can NOT even believe this is up here. and then come to leave a comment and here you all are talking about MEDUSA'S!! awesome. awesome time in music. all hail dj john curly. fou gorki- BIG HOUSE- Razormaid mix, anyone? xoxoox Living Inside Me-by DATA.... all the Razormaid hits only Chicago Medusa kids could love. go to Musky's after? Imagine a club that changes the entire decor monthy like that again... melting Dali-esque smiley acid house smiley faces. fond fond memories...
Oh, Medusa's. I remember the very first time I went. There was huge scaffolding inside to dance on and they were playing "no devotion" by revolting cocks. It changed me! The first time I heard Hassan was at McGreevy's.
only a fellow chi-towner like yourself would ever remember this song...what I would give to go back in time!! Those were some fun crazy ass times..I'm just glad I made it through alive! he-he-he
Anytime I'm in a bad mood - I listen to this

I don't think there was a night that I spun at Medusa's without playing this.
This along with Data - Living inside me , Fou Gorki's - Big House and Anne Clark's - Our Darkness. Those 4 tracks became the anthems for Medusas.

There is another song that they would mix in
that goes " to fast to fast to fast to live"
it was an idustrial song they sounded like 242. Does anyone know who sings it?
