  • I think there's a ps2 one.

  • PlayStation > Xbox. i miss when playstation gave away the free holiday demo disc

  • Can you play the games on the LCD screen? Like using it as a tv for the PSOne?

  • Comment removed

  • lol..... Now I want to play my PSOne!! D:

  • You talk about later versions of older video game systems being redesigned, Nintendo has just done that with the Wii, at least here in Australia, the new reconfigured Wii has a horizontal orientation only and does not play GameCube games nor does it have GameCube controller ports or memory card slots.

  • Did the early PS1 systems also have a Parallel I/O connector on the back? I'm pretty sure some of the earlier models did have, I believe the Namco light guns also used one of those connectors on the back as well as the controller socket, I wanted one of these for a few days in early 2001 but didn't get one, eventually I did get a PS2. I hated PlayStation in the 90's because all the kids at school teased me about the N64, but now I wouldn't mind getting one.

  • @Lachlant1984 Yeah the early PS1's had a parallel port that was taken off the last few models of PS1 and the PSone. I don't think any official peripheral used it. Just some early Game Shark like devices or things to play Backups and Imports. The Namco light gun used the composite video so you plugged the gun into the controller socket and another wire passed around to the composite video you plugged the PS1's composite video cable into it and it into the TV.

  • @MN12BIRD Yeah I remember once my cousin hired out a game with the Namco gun and I remember the cable having video and audio sockets on it, why did they design it like that? Why would you need to run the video signal through the light gun cables?

  • @Lachlant1984 My guess is the gun needs the sync signal to line up with the refresh rate on the screen for some reason. Those Namco guns where known to be more accurate than previous style light guns so it must have been why.

  • wa the screen looks like a pancake ontop of the ps1 but its cool

  • great video explains everything :D

  • PSone has 740x480 resolution on the big screen it looks like shit on small its perfect

  • I used to think I was the shit at my school, because I could play Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo 2 and Kula World...IN THE CAR! :D

  • The screen is so little, that the graphics looked much better

  • @Backexskellet LOL yeah it's true Gran Turismo looks so sharp and crisp on the little screen.

  • I have the other version that has the FIGRA PlayStation block, I would wonder how the smaller screen fits my console?

  • I just got mine last week, and its pretty cool thou.

check my vid, no big deal...the original grey still working condition, theres nothing better than play a PS 1 game on a "real PS 1 console", I´d tried on the PSP but, is not the same feel, and BTW what a crisp clear sound on those teeny speakers and good image quality on that LCD...

  • when i saw 0:32 i didn't see any PS1 i seen my childhood =)

  • Desde que me obsequiaron la PSone hace 10 u 11 años, no la eh dejado a lado.Cuando la PS3 se vuelve monotona y aburrida, siempre la PSone a estado comigo! aguante la legendaria PLAYSTATION ONE

  • reminds me of the good ol PSone days. :)

  • do you have to have a certain type of ps1 to use the screen or just any type somebody please reply

  • Really innovative design for it's time, I really can't see why the current generation of consoles don't make these anymore.

Other than that, really informative review.

  • It's a shame my PSone and LCD are broken, the LCD beyond anyone's repair 8|

  • WHERE I CAN BUY psOne LCD SCREEN ?

  • @88starkiller

    Ebay is your best friend.

  • Back in the days Sony used to be inventive.

  • who needs psp when you got this

  • doom for the ps1 works with the multiplayer port

  • 6:31 you say your going to pop in the only ps2 game you have... :P

  • I had both a PlayStation and a PSOne with the LCD screen when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I was young and didn't know how to take care of ANYTHING properly, and wound up destroying the PSOne with the LCD. God, I was stupid. My regular PlayStation lasted a bit longer, though, but eventually I ended up donating both systems. Big mistake number 2!!!

  • Can it play PlayStation 3 games?

  • My brother and I use to have a PSOne console (mostly my brother owned it) and my parents were going to the LCD screen for it a couple of years ago but it was to much money for my parents. =P

  • Is the screen video composite or RGB?

  • i have a grey old ps1 and it has direct av out and has not been modified is it a net yarotzee or how ever its spelled

  • @moron726 Net Yaroze is black. The first model (batch) of the original Playstation had the AV jacks directly on the back. So you just have a really early model. They're worth a little more because they have really good CD audio quality.

  • @KEWLSTEWIEGUY cool ima go check those out THANX ^_^

  • PlayStation 2 game?

    Aha, oh well.

    Nice review.

  • I got one of these when it first came out in England in Makro for £49.99 + VAT.

  • ahhh i miss the psone!!!

  • Wicked I want to pick up one of these as well as a car adapter for it.

  • Hey, that's pretty cool! I found one on Amazon for $50.00, but its a different brand. (Pelican.) Imma get me one! A PsOne, too. :D

  • i have the fat ps1 but now that i seen the screen on ps1 slim i want this 1 now with the screen im 14 so i dont no where i can find one

  • isn't this a cd executer like the xbox360?

  • i want a lcd

  • I just ordered the PSOne a few days ago (but it doesn't have an LCD screen)

  • Xbox to the Xbox S

  • I seen someone make a portable gamecube

  • Possibly the most beautiful, compact, well-designed console ever. Cute and entirely functional.

  • @caesiume And with the AV in, the possibilities are endless.

  • do you just plug the PSone into the wall with the screen on if not how do you hook it up?

  • @PacMan4036 You plug the PSone screen onto the back of the PSone and then the power plug into the back of the screen. The one power plug powers both the screen and the psone together.

  • @MN12BIRD

    thanks a lot

  • @MN12BIRD this is the first video i saw posted by MN12BIRD and now im one of his subscribers

  • "We have ways of making you pronounce the letter O, pal." - Roy Boy from Canadian Bacon. Gotta love John Candy films, funny Canadian.

  • One power supply is convenience. Also this LCD able to connect to other video game console by using modded AV multi(12pins) connector. Because, this LCD's "Y" pin(S-Video's "Y") is helpful to function as sync signal.

  • @doujindance Yeah I've seen a few modders use the screens from these to make new portable systems like a portable SNES or N64.

  • @MN12BIRD Personally I hate mods like that, why use a screen which wil be historic later and worth a lot, than an LCD unit?

  • I used to play my ps one lcdc thing and I wanna play it now but when i plug it in the system turns on but not the screen or volume. Am I doing something wrong or does it just not work???

  • @JEBBUIT I am from the future and yes....yes it does go Slim.

  • i should've got one but my damn brothers got a ps2 before i can buy one of these!

  • You say playstation two games on 06:35 hihi

  • PSPOne

  • I wish my mom didn't take away my old Playstation. Now I just have my PS2 and PS3. I miss Tomb Raider and Tekken.

  • i like all the fat playstations. like my ps3 for example, i like the nice fat black ass that its got. :P

  • pick up d00m for ps1 its kickass

  • resident evil or resident evil directors cut

  • Yay! SEGA CD BIOS song!!!!!!

  • where can you get the lcd screen cheap?

  • ebay. rare to find now. 30$-50$

  • haha my friend had that back in the day lol

  • It did go slim in September 1st of this year and the only ps3 slim models are 120gb and 250gb

  • Gran Turismo 2. I have that game, I completed it on my ps3.

  • yeah indeedy

  • looks like the psp go!

  • Where have I heard that song?!!

  • You can also get a battery pack for it that snaps on to the bottom.

  • the ps1 i used to own also had another port on the back where i plugged a game shark in... the one you have there doesnt look like it has it.... thats when they started to put game sharks on discs

  • Nice Console:U :o

  • I managed to pick up a PSONE with the sony screen from gamestation for £4.99 a few weeks ago lol.

bargain. I use it with my ps3 for watching simpsons on the internet occasionally..

    Tim

  • AWSOME/you can play GRan Turismo and Gran Tursimo 2 ON THE GO

  • Did he say "Playstation 2" game?

  • yeah, but he was wrong. He wanted to say "Playstation 1" game.

  • i fkkn found a mini ps1 with the lcd screen combo at a pawnshop for 29.99! :D The funny thing is, they talk to you as if they know everything they are selling. xD i found a complete Virtural Boy for 10bucks too! (:

  • Great review thx, now i need tobe lucky enough to find one on ebay ;-)

  • I just got a whole lcd screen BRAND NEW with a used Psone for 60 on ebay. LOVE IT! FF9 here I come.

  • i got the same psone as you with the screen

  • HEY! the intro music to this video is from the start up screen from the sega cd!

  • you say in the description it was released in September 2000, I swear I got mine for my 8th birthday in February 2000 (must have been Christmas 2000) but Wikipedia states mid-2000?!

  • this is awesome the psone lcd with the psone, its a good sized screen considering people are happy to play on a DS or PSP screen (they are smaller)

theres a official psone carrycase that you can put about 10 discs in, memorycards, ac adapter, a psone, barely enough room for a controller. but yeah its pretty neat as well, i just gotta get myself a psone screen

  • What a nice system XD. Any way the PSOne was made as a cheap alternative to the PS2.

  • I believe the original PSX also had a parallel port. Didn't some light gun games use those I/O ports?

  • the parallel port was removed with the release of the SCPH-9000 model.

  • i had one of those,i miss it :(

  • I got Two of these with the screens all the wires and prots that let you hook it up to a tv all for free!

  • 6:33 you said "the only playstation 2 game i own"

  • press the select button when playing an audio CD

  • i believe they made a car kit available so u can have power from the lighter jack

  • how big is the screen? -/-?

  • 5inch

  • Does the LCD screen also makes the system become portable, Or does it need to be plugged in?

  • NAh you gotta plug it in still. They may have made a battery pack also at least someone might have if Sony didn't.

  • Just incase nobody made a battery pack, What's the point of making a LCD screen in the first place?!

  • There were aftermarket battery packs for the unit, but I don't know if Sony themselves made a battery pack for the unit. I do believe they made a cigerrette lighter adaptor that you could use in the car.

  • i reckon it would be still useful, you could go anywhere with it and just find a power point and then your playing.

if you only got one tv in your house then you can play the psone and others can watch tv, you can play music cd's on it on your desk or where ever, i reckon die hard ps1 fans would find more uses, these days though you got a ps2 and ps3.

  • @MN12BIRD They did make a battery

  • the "PeeSoun"

  • omg i luv the ps1 boot up sound!!!

  • i know its just as good as the ps2 boot up sound

  • this would so come in handy on the road or at a hotel.. because most hotel tvs dont have the AV plug ins

  • its already announced its going slim =]

  • where? im interested in seing where it was announced to go slim !

I however think its too early to make it go slim, the stuff inside the ps3 is expensive and a price drop wont happen for a long time, a ps3 with compatibility with a ps1, even a ps2??, even blue ray! and to make it smaller??? Sheesh...

  • the ps3 slim was announced a few days back dude and its 299$

  • thanks for tellin me about that, i didnt know! it looks cool though!

  • I got the PSOne with the screen too, besides it looking much better than the original release in terms of design. The screen is amazing, has great speakers and has video in and out, it's just a pleasure to use.

  • they need to do this wit da ps two, cuz den u got a portable ps2/dvd player...

  • wow i like that a lot. i want a ps3 version. mine in a second if sony ever releases it, which they probably wont :(

  • Yeah PSThree won't be long!

  • @MN12BIRD

    It has.

  • I still keep my psone, it works fine as it always was :) maybe I should buy this LCD screen........

  • review your game room

  • Is the external power adapter the same as on the ps2 ?

  • so it never has to be charged never has to be plugged in... thats strange

  • Does it suffer from any ghosting?

  • No not really.

  • nice review man

i was actually looking for some sort of review of the joytech 8 inch ps2 slim screen that ive ordered

only found out recently that the model i have doesnt have screw holes on the back

people that dont have these complain that it sorta dangles of the back

hopefully the soloution that worked for others is to drill them yourself

would be pretty cool if you could review this screen, i think its the most popular ps2 screen out

    correct me if im wrong

  • Silent hill (my favorite ps game ;) )would be hard to play on that. It would kind of ruin the experience, and the camera angles were already annoying. some games I think are just better off played on a regular tv

  • I bought two days ago a really new PSone with LCD screen complete with box for 80 EUR from official Sony dealer in Slovenia. This was crazy.

  • It looks like a toilet with the screen on. lol

  • The screen actually works? Well, that's a good LCD screen then.

  • I just got a PSone at a garage sale for $15. I already have the PlayStation classic, but now I can play on long car rides. I don't like calling it PSX because that was a SNES CD-ROM extension (the X in PSX) that was never completed because SONY and NINTENDO both wanted publishing rights.)

  • There is also a Sony PSX in Japan. Its a PS2 with a built in Hard Drive and CD burner! But I remember when all the magazines called the PS the PSX so I still do.

  • I will probabily get a psone from ym friend for free.

  • I just bought a PSOne at Play N Trade for $20. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for the LCD screen.

  • I hate Play n' trade! Every single one I go to, I get ripped off; they never hold games for me and they say they have what I want and when I go there, they dont have it and they try to sell me stuff I dont want :O Down with Play n' Trade, long live the Gamestop!

  • That sucks. Sounds like you have a bad one there. The thing is, they are all independently owned, so they have more control over what goes on at their store. At mine, the two guys that run it are really cool. And all games previous to the next-gen systems are buy two get one free.

  • all of them are independantely owned? howcome the 3 different ones i have gone to before (in different areas) are all the same?

  • Tough to say. It may very well be that the same person or persons owns all three.

  • 3 different states far apart from eachother?

  • LOL...well, no, probably not in that case!

  • I'd get one from amazon but every time I purchase one, the seller never sends it so I have given up on trying to get a PsOne.

  • Our play N Trade is awesome!!

  • I don't get the point of that serial port at all. Why would you want to link up PS1s?

  • It was a cool idea at the time. You could play 2 player Ridge Racer with 2 TV's!

  • can I use the screen on a ps2 slim? also, is it worth it to buy a psone even though i have a ps2 and a ps3, and a psp?

  • if your still into playing ps1 gams and buy new ps1 games that you havnt played off of ebay or something then id recomend it, otherwise invest in a screen for the ps2 slim (third party one, sony didnt release one i beleive) that way you got a ps2 slim with a screen that will play ps1 games as well, i was gona do that but im more into official things lol

  • men why did day not make a ps2 portable

  • is that the American sega CD song on the intro?

  • They should make a black version of this for the PS2 or redesign the PS3 and do that.

  • do they make a battery for this so you can have your psone portable

just need a wireless controller and your all set

  • Where did you get that from?

  • "hell" isn't long!

  • Intro still long as hell I see.

  • I got one for my birthday. Now I just need to get the LCD screen for it.

  • haha nice one really good game to get is grand turismo i grew up with tht game it was amazing then i sold my ps1 i still regret selling it

  • whats the name of the song in the beginning. plz reply

  • its the music from a SegaCD bootup screen.

  • Didn't some of the arcade light guns use the I/O ports on the original PlayStation? Does this mean the light guns don't work on the PSOne?

  • Some light guns used the sync signal from the composite video line to the TV. That would still work on the PSOne same as it would on the original.

  • Your old PS1 is missing the Parallel port.

  • Yeah...he must have a Model 9001. All the earlier models had it.

  • can this play PS2 games?

  • No.

  • what a dumbass this cannot play PS2 games

  • no shit this is a PS1

  • where can i buy a new ps1 screen. i broke mine, and i dont have much money to spend.

  • How do you get these borders around your videos?

  • It's a shame Sony never made a Discman/PlayStation like Sega did with the Genesis portable CDX.

  • With the PSP you can play PS1 classics if you download it from the play station store

  • I don't actually own a PSP, but I was aware that you could download classic PSX games to the PSP. What I'm not clear on, is if you can download PSX games directly to the PSP streight from the internet or whether you need to download them via the PS3. I read about the PlayStation store on Cnet quite some time ago. How many classic PSX games are available via the PlayStation store?

  • This is the list i saw:

    Crash bandicoot

    Crash bandicoot cortex strikes again

    Destruction derby

actualy they are more PSX classics but i only remember these titles

  • You can also do remote play, put a ps1 disc in your ps3 and then remote play so the ps3 is on your psp, its laggy-ish and the games have a delay but you can play it in your household portable wise, its interesting lol

  • Or get a custom firmware and download the games on webpages lol instead doing remote play

  • i had the big ps1 my friend spilled some powder in it i was pissed

  • my PS1 has a parallel port

  • I really wanted one of these but mom would never let me get one since I already had the original =( I wanted it for that screen...

  • thank you Danny for giving or lending this psone so the video could be made:) cheers mate!!

ps i noticed you have a model 1 sega Saturn i have a model 1 as well and i hear they are the tougher out of the models..

    SEGA FOREVER!!

  • What sort of signal is being sent to the LCD screen from the PS1? Is it composite, s-video, or maybe even RGB? Also, what resolution is the screen? I think the PS1 put out a 640x480 interlaced resolution, that would mean that the screen would have to de-interlace that signal and make it progressive.
