No matter how hard they would try, no one but no one can ever come close to Christopher Reeve playing Superman! Superman is HIS! And no future Superman and Lois can ever compare to this fantastic scene!
It's funny. I was about 2 or 3 years old (yes, it's true), when my parents saw this movie, and they took me with them. I have no idea how I can remember anything being that young, but I remember this scene. I remember her falling and screaming, and that blue nightgown she wore. Everything else is a blur.
........... it is still the funniest thing ever when he releases her hand to just a light fingertip grip. when they get giddy and relaxed, she falls. the delayed expression on his face is priceless. i laughed so hard at this seeing it the first time - and every time after. this is one of the best film sequences ever..... such a great film on so many levels - true americana
I used to think, what a doofus she is - that she's so blind not to realize, without those glasses, but i guess, from her perspective, she's with a god, and with this dreamlike sequence - man, how can one ever live down a notch, to think it's dopey clark from the office. Best of Superman!
I love this scene. Originally her little monologue was supposed to be sung (first by a singer, then by Margot herself but neither worked out well). Then they went with the current version. A song there would've bored the hell out of me I think, but that spoken word version is magical, and a bit out-of-the-box and unique.
Like he was gonna let her hit the ground, (or even let her go) though that WOULD have been kinda funny..."Lois? Where's Lois!? Splat !!" "Sorry, super brain-fart."
Viewing this movie was an amazing bit of wish-fulfilment for someone like me who was a Supie comics buff throughout the 60s. By hindsight, the greatest sequences in the motion picture are the out of this world titles, yet to be beaten in terms of impact even almost 30 years later now, the John Williams sound track, the Smallville sequence, the eternal bonding in the viewer's memory between the onscreen characters and Chris Reeve/M Kidder who played the roles, and this truly sequence.
One word to describew this clip, PERFECT! From the conversation on the balcony, then taking a ride with Superman, together with the background music by John Williams, everything is perfect. Brings back so many memories of 1978. Thanks for the video derek!
You GOTTA tell me where you got this clip - I've been trying to find it everywhere...PLEASE! If you got it off a site, let me know where - I love this clip...

The 'Superman flight' section should be combined with this section since effectively they follow one another.

Such an effortlessly endearing, and eloquent, little vignette. ... A tour de force. Mr. Reeve was and is wonderful; Miss Margot is magnificent.

"You can fly!"
"You belong in the sky!"
"You and I!"
Suddenly, Adam Sandler swoops in and says: "How about I just go eat some pie, I can make things out of rye, and get really high, I just might try!"
