If you just got it, take it back right now. The Shadow II gets released in October. Also, did yours come with the extended battery? Like, is the battery smooth, or does it stick out a little? Mine is the extended, lasts about 4 days.
But yeah, take it back if you just got it, the Shadow II is right around the corner.

Like I already said, the service itself doesn't cost anything, but you need internet access somehow for it to work. That's either wifi that's in the area (free) or the Tmo Data plan (19.99)

I had this phone for a couple of months. One day in school it was in my pocket. I take it out after class, and the LCD crystals are Bursted. T-Mobile warranty doesn't cover it and they say I don't have insurance but I recall getting it, I guess not. IF YOU GET THIS PHONE it's unbelievably slow in my opinion, but powerful, yet fragile also. The slider also gets wobbly
I wouldn't say that.... The wifi is great for if you are in a wifi range, but having data access everywhere (Live search, etc.) is very convenient as well.
for all the people who are wondering should they get the shadow or the dash i had the dash and switched to the shadow i love the shadow it works great trust you will be happy
not a big fan of this phone its already been broken twice its very cheaply made and its slow as hell lots of glitches and a very very short battery life.
If you're using wifi, it's free. It's just like wifi on a laptop. If you want the internet through T-Mobile, you pay the 19.99 for the Total Internet add-on.
So from your opinion which phone due you think is the best phone to buy the shadow or the Blackberry 8120 considering there are alike the only difference is that the Blackberry does not come with windows mobile 6...

I'm going back and forth between the Shadow and the BB Curve 8320.
I've thought I was set on the Shadow, discovered the Curve, went back to the Shadow, and I'm at a dead end.
I do want Wi-Fi, and I text alot so I'm drawn to the full QWERTY on the Curve, but the Shadow seems so much more 'fun'. I want to be able to listen to music so I like the 3.5mm jack on the BB. But the Curve...
In your case, I'd go with the curve. They both are awesome, but when you said a lot of texting, you locked yourself in on the full large QWERTY. The Shadow is a sexier phone, for sure, but convenience will weigh out after you've had it for more than a month or so.
I'm in a rut, I have been considering the shadow.. But I always have been thinking about the T-mobile Dash, I'm good with any keyboard really, But what's an overall better phone? In your opinion.

Yeah, you can access the internet over wifi w/o a data plan. If you don't have a data plan, and access data, you'll never get charged for usage. With Tmo, you either have a data plan, and unlimited access therefore, or no data plan, and no access at all.

in the last four years i've had 10 phones, i currently have the RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8220, the flip.
it's like the shadow, there's compromises, it's having a smart phone but all that is hidden with the flip form factor.
that live search is great, wish we had that for all phones!

I had this phone for a couple of months. One day in school it was in my pocket. I take it out after class, and the LCD crystals are Bursted. T-Mobile warranty doesn't cover it and they say I don't have insurance but I recall getting it, I guess not. IF YOU GET THIS PHONE it's unbelievably slow in my opinion, but powerful, yet fragile also. The slider also gets wobbly

I wouldn't say that.... The wifi is great for if you are in a wifi range, but having data access everywhere (Live search, etc.) is very convenient as well.

not a big fan of this phone its already been broken twice its very cheaply made and its slow as hell lots of glitches and a very very short battery life.

If you're using wifi, it's free. It's just like wifi on a laptop. If you want the internet through T-Mobile, you pay the 19.99 for the Total Internet add-on.

So from your opinion which phone due you think is the best phone to buy the shadow or the Blackberry 8120 considering there are alike the only difference is that the Blackberry does not come with windows mobile 6...

Maybe you can finally help me put this to rest... I'll be getting a new phone in a couple weeks.
I'm going back and forth between the Shadow and the BB Curve 8320.
I've thought I was set on the Shadow, discovered the Curve, went back to the Shadow, and I'm at a dead end.
I do want Wi-Fi, and I text alot so I'm drawn to the full QWERTY on the Curve, but the Shadow seems so much more 'fun'. I want to be able to listen to music so I like the 3.5mm jack on the BB. But the Curve...

is $50 cheaper when you consider the Rebate is only $50 from $200 and the Curve is $100 from $250...
I know the battery life isn't awesome on the Shadow, but I figure with that extra $50 I could always buy a $10 extra battery.
So....Wi-Fi, easy texting, note-taking, nice organizer, music, photos...
They both have it all.
And I DON'T need easy access E-Mail, which makes me think it would be worth it to save the $50 and get the Shadow...
I don't know what a better investment would be...

In your case, I'd go with the curve. They both are awesome, but when you said a lot of texting, you locked yourself in on the full large QWERTY. The Shadow is a sexier phone, for sure, but convenience will weigh out after you've had it for more than a month or so.

I'm in a rut, I have been considering the shadow.. But I always have been thinking about the T-mobile Dash, I'm good with any keyboard really, But what's an overall better phone? In your opinion.

By the way...You said you work for T-Mobile so maybe you can answer this for me...
I have Wi-Fi at my house (NOT on a HotSpot@Home plan). While I'm at home, can I use a Shadow to access the internet over our existing Wi-Fi, even without any sort of data plan?
How is working for T-mobile?

Yeah, you can access the internet over wifi w/o a data plan. If you don't have a data plan, and access data, you'll never get charged for usage. With Tmo, you either have a data plan, and unlimited access therefore, or no data plan, and no access at all.
I like working for them. Good company, actually.
