  • i hope you dont mind me asking but it`s something i`ve wondered, i notice that you have very short hair or are bald, im just wondering is that part of your culture in some way or is it something like personalchoice or just the way you ntaurally ie you have very short hair just wondering what the reasoning behind you bald head is

  • @jamesch230 It was a personal choice. I've since grown it but I will probably cut it all off again in the near future. It's just hair

  • @deansk72 glad you found it helpful. I wouldn't use any piece of cloth that's less than a yard long. All the wraps I have are a cotton fabric

  • I am African american and west indian descent ... More of gullah heritage and jamaican , bajan , and haiti culture .. We do head wraps because most of ancestor came from ivory coast and western parts of africa .. Where head wraps are still worn.. My friend is from ghana and she from ewe tribe , and she wear wrap as well.. I do my wrap a lil more different but it's always more ways to fry a fish i heard .. love the video ..

  • Thanks for your comment(s)! I'm West Indian, born and raised in the Caribbean. Glad to hear that we share a love of headwraps. They're so beautiful and elegant and there's so many different ways to do them :-)

  • I am african -American with West indian background [ Jamaican , Bajan , haiti , and Trin] and a gullah geechie background i love my african wrap... I do my mine completely different ,but like i always heard it's always more than one way to fry a fish..Gullah is more sierre leone , ivory coast, angola , benin , and nigerian decescant we are part of the african dispora .. My friend is from Ghana and she' from the Ewe tribe . she does beautiful head wraps but lovely video..

  • I have a question....Are you African? Although you sound West Indian (no hate, Im African-American...Fam is from Grenada :o)....I have always loved this style but my concern was its meaning, my mom always say learn things cuz everything have meanings to them, at one point I wanted locks... so does the head wrapping mean anything?!

  • That's a great question. I am West Indian, I live in Trinidad :-) I'm not sure of the meaning behind this style of head wraps.. I would see it worn a lot by West Indian folk dancers during their performances or on women on the street and I just played around with fabric and figured out how to do it. When I wear them I feel more elegant and queenly so they mean elegance and Queendom to ME
