@proncho I doubt the Reich would have been able to defeat the USSR or the USA in a one-on-one fight. Sure it probably would have trampled over the UK if they didn't switch their focus to the eastern front. But the USA's GDP in 1938 was greater than all of the Axis Power's GDP COMBINED. Furthermore, the USSR population doubled that of the Germans, and even Hitler's generals were urging him not to attack the Soviets.

basically, goebbels was never truly anti-semitic in his early years as an educated and cultured man. however, as his power was beginning to decline during the mid 1930s after the Nazis rooted themselves in power and didn't need much propaganda anymore and focused on rearmament, he seized on anti-semitism as a way to gain favor with hitler and increase power.
most humans will do whatever it takes to achieve or remain in power, even advocating the extermination of an entire race.

@waterman1976 I have read some of Goebbles speeches and, I don't think he is in the same class as Hitler in the oratory department. He is an interesting character, and I do agree he was a bit of a "Yes man"for Hitler.
I must remind you that Jewish people are an ethnicity and not a race, this is an easy mistake given the constant comments we hear about the holocaust. I don't think there was any danger of there ethnicity being wiped out and, I do understand your meaning by the word race.

It's a German movie that depicts the final days in the bunker. Info for the movie comes from the several bunker survivors, Traudl Junge, Albert Speer, Gerda Christian, and several others. It appears to be a pretty historically accurate movie of the last days in Hitler's bunker.

There is no winning of a war. Countries who fight in war always lose. They don't lose the battle, but they lose almost everything they own to fight for something which is no point in dying for. They lose their friends, families, homes, but worst of all, their dignity and respect. How? Because why would you kill a man, woman or child for what your government has brainwashed you into doing. @proncho I doubt the Reich would have been able to defeat the USSR or the USA in a one-on-one fight. Sure it probably would have trampled over the UK if they didn't switch their focus to the eastern front. But the USA's GDP in 1938 was greater than all of the Axis Power's GDP COMBINED. Furthermore, the USSR population doubled that of the Germans, and even Hitler's generals were urging him not to attack the Soviets.

To understand the reaction of the german people you should take a look at the brutal conditions they had after WWI. No doubt they were following someone who gave them hope for a better life.
It´s still curious to think that all other main countries which took part in WWII allied against Germany. No doubt Germany would have defeated each of them fighting one on one.
Also it´s important to take into account that history is written by the winners.

Does Hitler make me feel sick? Or Goebbels, Himmler even? no. The German people who followed them make me sick. Something was very wrong at the heart of the German nation back then. I know things have changed now. But can we be sure? After all, all of the Germans who are alive today, or at least a hefty percentage are descendants of supporters or actual Nazis. I know exactly why Germany invaded Poland. There were several reasons and only one of them just. Main point being they wanted to abolish it and restore Germany's old border. Negotiations with Russia and UK had already broken down and they in a ceasefire with Germany. Were we really going to poke 2 bears at once?
