I reread the definition of "cartel" & I don't see your point. Pointing out that the USA uses 1/4 the worlds energy is not an embarrassment. It should be a status symbol. Backwards 3rd world countries hardly use any energy. Energy is a sign of technology, advanced civilization, & improved standard of living. How about we lower our dependence of foreign oil by unshackling our hands at home, ie reduce prohibitions of exploration and drilling here. Soon enough AE will be cost effective w/o subsidy.
