I know I am in the minority here but McMillan had this coming. I never liked her foul-mouthed, depressing works (called novels). Why can't Black writers, producers, etc EVER publish or produce something encouraging with decent morals. By the way, Stella-Groove was dumb. Let's see: a 40-year old wealthy Black female goes to Jamaica, falls in love with male stranger 20 years younger than her. Sooo what does this really make Stella? A FEMALE PEDOPHILE, like Terry!!!

I could see if he was still in high school, then it might be something. In MacMillan's case, life imitates art and vice versa. Something was seriously wrong with her (perhaps severe loneliness), for her to have married Plummer. Aside from age and sexual orientation, he comes across to me as very CREEPY!

I agree somewhat. But you have to realize, like she said, we didn't have that many black authors to identify with. I like them at the time, but I don't like them now. Mama was pretty good, though. And I've never Eric Jerome Dickey's novels, but people ate them up in the 90s because it was the "new thing" to do was read books from black authors. To each its own.
