I've seen many circuses over the years and I know one thing for certain:

These cats work in pure fear. That is very obvious a trainer from the old school: Beating the hell out of these cats for every tiny misbehavior or fault during training.

There are very good animal acts where the cats do their act relaxed with very patient trainers like Walliser and Lijferink. This trainer is not one of them.

@limbabwaanzin you will see that after the incident which he controlled perfectly that he then went up to the tiger that caused the issue petted it and reassured it that it was fine. how is that controlling them with fear, have you ever been behind the scenes of a circus? watch the training ect? i have & i can assure you that all animals are rewarded for everything they do, you would also know circuses let all the public come and see the animals and how they live they are transparrent!

Having said that, wildlife belongs in the wild, not standing on tiny platforms, and forcibly beaten to perform stupid tricks for human beings. Wild animals have been banned from performing in circuses in the UK, and the same will happen here in the states, just a matter of time. Evidence proves that what happens to animals in circuses is cruelty.

@linzee4584 thought i would clarify something here, wild animals HAVE NOT been banned in uk circuses and they wont be, only 37 mp's took part in the motion and there were 7 mp's that did not vote for a ban. thats not many out of over 600 when the rest refused to take part. there was no actual vote it was only a motion, there will be a report issued in july 2012 and that will be the first step to having a full liscencing scheme put into place. this is something circuses have wanted 4 years

@circusunite Breeding animals in captivity for the sole purpose of entertainment is not helping conservation. None of the WILD animals in circuses are allowed to behave naturally. As for the ban in the UK, I don't live there, so there is really nothing I can say to refute your claim. We'll just have to wait and see about that. As long as WILD animals are used and abused in the circus there will be people there to protest it, and we won't give up until we've won the animals freedom.

I have a relative who used to work for ringling bros circus, training elephants and eventually quit, because he was so ashamed of himself for using fear and torture on the elephants. He also informed me that these practices are standard at Ringling, the most successful circus show there is.

@bellavistabambina Most trainers are abusive . However I observed tigers at the zoo for class and cats. They are the same on a larger scale. They either really love or hate humans. If brought up in captivity positively they see humans as their providers. If brought up with abuse they hate all creatures and are agressive. If they are in the wild they don't like people. I can get my cat to do alot of the stuff these tigers do by giving them what they want. Ferrel cats "house cats in the wild"

If you really observe tigers in the wild though they love to show off and be the bigger and better cat. Even the females have that side to them. Cats around people love attention. At the petting zoo the baby tiger would paw you or cry if you did not pet it or scratch its tummy or watch it go through it's tunnel . Once they get used to people they coexist quite well.

Speaking from a different perspective than the rest, I have had the pleasure of having singapore for two years in the show we had on long island. He was mixed in the group after he finished up with us. I will say from experience that they are NOT terrified of him and Taba is very good with is animals, singapore is a young male tiger who is entering his prime and sometimes his testosterone gets the best of him. He is turning 4 this coming year and is in his prime, nothing to do with fright.
