@adauto3000 No its a Victor. It did the same job as the Vulcan but was designed and built by a different company. Victors just aren't as famous as Vulcans even though they were faster and could carry more bombs.
I'm glad you enjoy looking at the videos which 666nocturnal666 has downloaded from my web site and reploduced here. He has reproduced several of my videos and I hope you enjoy looking at those as well.
Went up to Elvington the other week and what a beautifuly piece of British engineering this was. The aircraft was almost alien compared to other bombers in the 50's. Just a shame we cant see these babies fly anymore. Id do anything to see the Victor, Vulcan and Lightning in 3 ship formation. The peak of cold war engineering and design.
@MrDarwinsDog russian looking?? you obviously haven't seen the V bombers of the raf (the valiant, vulcan and victor) all beautiful looking aircraft , the valiant in the mid 50's and the vulacn and victor in the 60's. There overall design was years ahead of other aircraft of the time and had beautiful blending of fuselage and wing.
@pramboy09 I dont care its british or american in the same way as americans dont care if its ukraine or russia. And im totally not joking. Look at Su-47, T-50, Su-35 and IL-76. They are all awesome looking.
@pacidessi ugliest???????? i think you need your eyes tested the victor was designed in the early 50's and had a beautiful wing shape that had the engines blended into the wing and the overall design i think looks far more modern that it really is. I believe the b-52 is far uglier than the victor the b-52 may have been far more capable as a bomber but to the eye i know what i prefer.
@OceansApprentice Oh by the way the Vulcans never did in-flt refuelling with hercules in the falklands war. Victors however did provide fuel for hercules shortly after the war when an airbridge was set up between ascension and port stanley but they had to perform it in a steep dive due to the airspeed requirements of both aircraft were so different. Hercules also had to be fitted with refuelling probes in 1982 to cater for the war requirements as no probes were fitted to hercs before then.
@OceansApprentice When the war started the Victors were quite quickly sent to Ascension Island. 55 and 57 sqn left just a few aircraft at Marham whilst most were in Ascension. Lack of crews, would have caused a lack of Victors in the UK and maybe the Vulcan crews used a modified USAF herc to practice in-flt refuelling. Personally I have never seen an in-flight refuelling herc, although the RAF had to modify some hercs for this purpose. RAF VC-10 tankers were not even thought of back then
@agibbs98 try again B52,s flew the most sucessful bombing campaign in history operation linebacker, 1972 when they went up against the most heavily defended air space in history North Vietnam against 1200 soviet sams and bombed the gooks back to peace table vulcan only mission they put crater in airfield guarded by unmotivated argie conscripts and needed US Shrike missile to do it
@OceansApprentice Oh come on don't listen to USAF stories because they're full of bullshit. Trust me RAF Vulcan crews got most of what they needs for night refuelling from RAF Victor crews. Waddington was the only RAF Airbase that had operational Vulcan's in 1982 and it's not too far from RAF Marham where the Victor's were. The airframs also use similar structures and components so cross-training was relatively easy. The Vulcan and Victor crews were working close together back then
@OceansApprentice Well that's a new one on me as I did not know this. I was very involved in the Victor detachment at RAF Marham and Ascension Island and I never heard of USAF training the RAF Vulcan pilots. I cannot see the point as the USAF mainly use the boom method and the RAF use the Probe and Drogue. If my memory serves me right the Vulcan crews got trained up using Victors as that was what was going to take them down to Stanley anyway and the Victor crews.
@agibbs98 well I'm afraid to say the Vulcan pilot's got their skills from the Victors. The delay in getting the Vulcan to Port Stanley was their probes were sealed with concrete and had been inhibited for years. The Vulcan's as well as the Victors also needed to be equipped with RWR and Omega and they had to practice the refuelling in Snake Climbs
@agibbs98 True but not really comparable like for like. In terms of accuracy the Vulcan won Red Flag more than the B-52. Apart from a last minute call up for Falklands duty and even that brought out problems the Vulcan was never really needed in it's lifetime, it was not because it did not get the chance. No point in starting a war to test hardware is it...unless you happen to be American ;) As for the B52 it was primarily a high altitude carpet bomber and any dude can do that.
@agibbs98 The Vulcan actually won most of the Red Flag bombing tournaments in Nevada against the B-52 for years, the RAF also fooled the USAF on occassions by hiding fighters beneath or above its delta wings so that only one blip appeared on radar.
@jers59 I certainly can, I was an engineer on 57 Sqn Victors at RAF Marham (Apr 1980 - Apr 1986) and was heavily involved with the Falklands operations and Red Flag etc. I was also on the Guard of Honour at Marham for 3 or 4 years and one of the things we did was the awards ceremony for the bombing competition. I do recall the Vulcans often won the bombing competition but the B52's won on the first year Tornados were used instead of Vulcans (not sure what that year was , prob about 1983)
@Fourteen88SoCal No it was British, made by Handley Page, it's one of the three V Bombers made in the 1950's; the Vulcan and Valiant being the other two
...how about doing a BARREL-ROLL for the camera??!!! All these low-passes are getting BORING already. Lets see some BARREL-ROLLS in jumbo jets already.
omg what a bitch fest in this video thread LOL the Vulcan / buccaneer pairing was deadly... I know of a little war game called Red flag where we flew 4 buccaneers under a Vulcan and dropped simulated nukes on a place called America.... America accused the UK of cheating and changed the rules from that point on LOL...
@agibbs98 Dude you are either delusional off your meds, liar, or smoking the good shit, take your pick. I doubt you have drivers license. As for idiot look in the mirror
@agibbs98 More BS you are no pilot mister francoamerican spagettio. No FAA pilot came to top gun to teach it was USN that gave instructions on F4 Phanroms carrier operations
@jers59 actually FAA pilots were at Miramar , jers59. It's called exchange , where friendly forces trade knowledge & ideas, and hopefully build the best allied partnership.
@jers59 it is fucking jinxed...but you don't really expect to get popped by a rifle-toting madman over here, esp on one of her majesty's boats. When is the next mindless gun rampage from the USA due ? We usually hear of one every month or so..
@PurplePunisher69 Lets see you had pscho last year murdered around 13 people in northern Uk you had mall shooting in Holland 2 days ago, the maniac who murdered school children in Scotland, Uk invented the serial killer Jack the Ripper I believe they had maniac in Finland, germany gunning down people. I should stay in US its lot safer here and I have 3 M1 Garands and Ruger 357 Blackhawk revolver for protection do not have to wait for armed responce to be called from donut shop
@jers59 if you just search for the term "going postal" , it comes from the US - and there is actually a whole long list solely devoted to actual postal worker murders - let alone ones on school/college campuses - try searching for "school shootings" and it seems that there has been nearly 100 since 1966 - and then try "mall shooting", then "parking lot" ...so in essence, your country has too many guns, and too many whackos. Safer in the US ? I'd invest in a 7.62mm Minigun, just in case, buddy
@PurplePunisher69 Getting rid of some dead beat postal workers is good thing and I could list the long line of british serial killers starting with jack the ripper, the husband and wife team the doctor who offed all his patients. By the way I went to high school with 2 sons of the iceman Rich Kulklinski but he only killed fellow crimminals
@jers59 what...getting rid of the same smiley postal workers who deliver your welfare check ? And BTW as America usually excels at most things, as well as all the good, you should accept that the USA leads the world in serial killers..do you think they would have ever have set Silence Of the Lambs in the UK ? US serial killers get to have big budget films made..Ted Bundy, The Boston Strangler, Eileen Wuornos, but yet to see a Jeff Dahmer one..you guys lead the way in disenfranchised loners
@PurplePunisher69 You mean the Royal Mail still deliver the dole to your council housing flat in birmingham? who played the pscho serial killer in silence of the lambs? A brit case closed , Ted Bundy was strapped in electric chair and fried deeper then fish and chips at the local chippie that you eat 3 times a day. Royal navy update Commander Wilkinson ordered somalian pirates who were captured with AK47,s and RPG,s released because under british law they were innocent, Way to go
@jers59 i can email you a nice picture of the Siemens fitted kitchen that is definitely not in a council flat in Birmingham, where you so strangely think is where i live. Fish & Chips are nice occasionally. What is your favourite meal ? BTW u should watch TSOTL again, you have missed a whole chapter that involves a minor recurring character who keeps women in a basement dungeon, and then skins them. And (random rant ?), i dont give a fuck about Somali pirates 3000 miles away .Big deal . Boo-hoo
@PurplePunisher69 Why would I want to enter your kitchen that is covered in semen? No Thanks Does your shoes stick to the kitchen floor, My favorite meal is anything not cooked in your kitchen I have no need for extra protein in my meals, Any serial killers running around by you whats the latest mall shooting in UK or europe
@agibbs98 try the other way around it was USN thast sent pilots over to FAA to teach them how to operate F4 Phantoms from carriers no FAA pilot was instructor at top gun In fact there is no FAA jet ace
@jers59 where is pig-faced Navy "ace" Randy Cunningham these days ? Last i heard was that the Feds shot him down for corruption, and now he's in jail. Hero to zero . Never mind, he can still tell all the other inmates his tales, like he did earning loads doing his big-headed after dinner speeches. Although in reality they wont really give a fuck about about all that , & will just ask him if he can suck a golf ball through a straw , and does he mind being called Susan for the evening
@PurplePunisher69 Duke Cunningham 5 kills which = jet ace he is doing time in club fed prison where I could do time standing on my head, Strap him back in F4 and he takes out 5 euro nonfighters today
@jers59 oh so you are tough enough for jail - I don't think so ..i doubt you could fight your way out of a Girl Guide's sleepover , and as for 1 Phantom, flown by a fat, bigoted "ace" ( he shot down five poorly trained 3rd world pilots flying second generation 50's jets - ) against 5 Typhoons ( RAF or Luftwaffe) - what is the weather like on your planet today ? .btw there are many other Vietnam era pilots who i have read about & respect, but old Porky Duke is not one of them. A total douche
@PurplePunisher69 Its sunny and warm here unlike your rain and cold, as for fighting I doubt you could fight your way out of gay interior designor conferance
@jers59 btw sunny & warm here too. Hope u will be enjoying your evening with a nice beer & a porch BBQ . BTW what state do you live in ? With 3 rifles & a pistol i thought it may be the state of siege but i could be wrong
@PurplePunisher69 I live in people republic of new jersey where we have fat bastard scumbag governor chris christie, I made mistake i have 4 rifles 1 revolver + couple hundred rounds of 30,06 ammo including armor piercing
@jers59 wow. I've fired air rifles, a couple of shotguns. a S&W 0.38 , and a Beretta .22 match pistol - the last two at an indoor range, when i was about 13. I can't say that i've got the bug, though. Armor piercing bullets ? scary !
@PurplePunisher69 Luftwaffe LOL those pussies will not fly combat missions in afghanistan or fly at night they let danish wounded soldiers on battlefield in afghanistan because it was getting close to dark and refused to fly medevac mission. Libya the pussy krauts are afraid to take part in any no fly zones against 1960,s and 70,s libyan air defences. Duke Cunningham would slaughter the luftwaffe in F84 or F86
@jers59 hmmm. F-86 Sabre is a great fighter , agreed - but would the Duke of Pork fit in the cockpit. Pity that the Hawker Hunter never made it to Korea tho - there is a great clip from History Channel's Dogfights where in the 1967 6 Day War, Israeli pilots in in Mirage 3's had a big engagement with RAF trained Jordanians in Hunters - as one Israeli put it "it was a really tough fight" .And btw is your keyboard on the blink - it's designer conference , not "designor conferance"
@agibbs98 apart from the anti-radar missile fired in the Falklands war. I think we can all be greatful that it was never asked to perform the role that it was designed for.
@benjjohnson The problem was not the bombs that were dropped on Port Stanley but the navigational systems used on the Vulcan were ancient. The H2S radar was actually grabbed from the AVRO Lancaster. The problem with the Nav Systems was that they had no nav beacons to navigate with over such a long distance from Ascension Island and so it was done on dead reckoning. When the Vulcan's arrived over Stanley they had just one pass and some were many miles out so had to correct at last minute
@agibbs98 btw actually the B52 is a great plane - its just that it due to American foreign policy & the advent of ICBM'S , it found itself having to validate the rest of its life ( after SALT , many went to Davis-Monthan) as a iron-dropping mud mover. I mean, they couldn't scrap them all..how would Boeing react ? . If Britain had adapted the Vulcan into a heavy conventional bomber, to fight wars like Vietnam, then many more would be in the air today.
@MrTarryhoot uninteresting lives???? you'll find we have very interesting lives and occupations....join in if you want, you may learn something or just watch the video and not read the writing. I'm curious as to why you are so against people leaving comments as most YouTube videos have comments beneath, unless of course you cannot string a decent sentence together?
If you're just joining us, we've been on the lines with people who like talking about cheap Dutch weed, brain holes, warnings about British beef, and accused Royal inbreeding. We now have a phone line open to Jim Hazlethorpe in Manchester who asks what the fuck morons are doing on here talking about that type of stuff when we have video clips of beautiful warplanes at our disposal. Jim, your comments?
The U.K. Famous for innovation and infamous for throwing away its innovations. Everything that the U.K. led the world in was sold off or outsourced. Hell, the U.K. didn't even try to keep its iconic auto industry from being bought up by foreign companies!
How about liquidating the imposter "royal" family and send in the Royal Marines to frog-march the Rothschilds to the gallows? The U.K. might be resuscitated and regain its prominence again without those parasites bleeding it to death
@InfiniteMushroom Hmmmm, not sure you've got your facts right here. The civil list was granted in exchange for the government taking ownership of all Crown Property - quite a good deal, as at today's prices this is worth billions. I suggest you buy yourself a history book, and don't go regurgitating all the lefty nonsense you have heard someone else say.
@iddodaphne As long as the British government owns the industry in the name of the British people, that's O.K. I marvel how the government will either sell off industries to foreign companies or let them go under. The U.K. once had a large military-industrial complex. What happened? Look at the Saunders-Roe Princess flying boat! Had London kept it alive, it would be a big seller now that there is a need for such aircraft. Flying boats can't be built because the expertise and tooling is lost.
@InfiniteMushroom But you god dam americans just luuuuuurve our royal family. If you know anything about the royal family you will realise they only cost us 69p each per year.
@Sterlingjob The upkeep may be low but, the royals OWN everything else! Upkeep is a false argument given the long chain of ownership that traces almost everything in the world back to the Queen and her fellow sovereigns, i.e. Queen Beatrix and the Pope. The Royal families of the world may not be involved in the day to day political machinations but, that's not important to them. The governments of the world are their hirelings and work to ensure a steady flow of tribute to the royal coffers.
I think, years ago, there was a comment about the Victor aircraft in here, long before the battle of the nations verbal warfare started. Come on people, let's get it back to an amazing aircraft that a few of us were lucky to remember it flying.
Please forgive the arrogance, and ignorance of a few Americans around here. If they all got a chance to live, work, play, and make lifelong friends in the UK, as I did, they most likely wouldn't feel that way. Some of the best years of my life was lived in England, and I would trade it for nothing! My respect NEVER waivers, and I am always proud to have, and have had you as an ally. Please ignore the, "my country is better than yours" nonsense. I will always have your back. Long Live England!
@mann8942 if Germany was against communism they wouldnt have allied themselfs with russia b4 the war and had trade agreements. secondly they wouldnt have split Poland with them.
@speedygonzales1000cc mind the first quarter ot the century...first war, 29 crash, Bolshevism expansion, weak and miss made country borders, hungry, unemployment, dispair
..it´s not difficult to imagine the environment..
Germany awesomely surpasses all in 10 years !
anyway it´s only a mind game..what if Titanic had hit the iceberg in full instead of its sideline.....difficult to say...impossible to declare.
@mann8942 Lets just forget the final solution, death and slave labor camps invasion of Poland and Germany being ally of USS in 1939 splitting Poland in half
Wow....just read that comment "war"...no pun intended.......get over it England. You guys have been, and will always be the #2 country of the world......u guys had your time at the head of the table.....I think that was called the dark ages.....P.S. we have orthodontists that can fix u guys right up if u want!!
@jers59 RAF pilots are not in the USA learning to fly F18's, we don't buy or operate them. However there is a friend of mine currently in the US as a test pilot for the F35 JSF. Apparently they can't find anyone with decent VTOL experience outside the Harrier squadrons.....
@abioape They do have exchange pilots to the USA, i remember a few years back the stealth fighter pilot was an RAF guy on exchange. Wherever you go in the world there will be a Brit!
@Sterlingjob Like the crew of Astute running aground in Scotland, the crew of Daring colliding with tugboat, the crew of RN sub colliding with french sub, RR engines going on fire and blowing up on A380 jets
@jers59 American rescue squad kill hostage with grenade? @ hunter killer subs collide? Even you cant be thick enough to work that one out. I could write about all the US fuck ups......but i havent got all year..
@jers59 Fuck off, look at iraq and vietnam, your country has screwed up big time after not taking UK advice. Iraq is so dangerous still and will be for a very long time....god bless america
@Sterlingjob anytime you want to compare who won more summer and winter olympic medals go ahead still pissed off the US tied UK in the biggest homo game soccer last summer.and soccer is hated in US because its fag sport favored by limp wristed euro trash and brits
@jers59 and Rugby, that real sport played by men who can run more than 1000 yards without getting tired, don't wear any head gear, or gay spandex tights, dont give a fuck about losing teeth or getting mashed ears . Super Bowl = 5 hours of overblown bullshit . with about 10 minutes of actual play. Please be aware that baseball is your true national sport.
@PurplePunisher69 compare the number of concussions in rugby to football then talk Bob Hayes winner of 1964 olympic gold medal as fastest human played numerous years for Dallas Cowboys
@jers59 So you blame Rolls Royce for the A380 episode? The full details have not yet been revealed to make assumptions like that. I am not sure myself of the real source of the cause of the trouble with that engine. The problem could be a defect with a simple packing, which could be made in the USA who knows? You sound like a man who thinks the USA created mankind, fact is the USA is just a country, nothing special. Many countries have contributed to the world not just the USA
@jers59 Actually he's there sorting out a weight vs range issue. They start by taking out anything dense and heavy that isn't contributing much to overall performance. Taking out the American is the first thing they try before dismantling the aircraft.......
@jers59 US pilots often enjoy exhanges with the RAF , because the RAF , cough, KNOWS THE FUCKING SCORE - WE TALK THE SAME LANGUAGE - Ever heard the term "Angels" , to refer to height in 1000's of feet ? From Britain, as we were fighting an airborne war for 2 years before you guys got invoved. And " Tally Ho .." as said by Tom Cruise in Top Gun .. from RAF pilots of old..and BTW , Royal Navy pilots were guest instructors at Miramar NAS , during the early days of Top Gun . FACT
@PurplePunisher69 Top Gun was invented by Captain Frank Ault and it was US F4 pilots who went across the pond to teach FAA pilots how to operate F4,s from carriers
@jers59 Lt Commander Dick Lord - of the FAA's Air Warfare Institute - was an instructor at Miramar . Read the article if you Google. Carrier conversion training ? Yes, and likewise , the British went to the States to show the USMC how to adapt to the Harrier. In short, you are trolling a Brit vid just for the sake of a fight, arent you ? And well done , for the B-52. Those poor Laotian farmers must have been one hell of a tough enemy.
@PurplePunisher69 Buy atlas or learn geography Laos is not North Vietnam and when did V bomber go up against 1 SAM no less then 1200 and did V bomber ever have air to air kill and Vbombers were retired in 1985 due to being obsolete B52 will be flying in 2040 and longer do the math thats 88+years
@jers59 The Ho Chi Minh trail went through Laos, the most heavily aerially bombed country in history. To quote - "Laos was hit by an average of one B-52 bombload every eight minutes, 24 hours a day, between 1964 and 1973. US bombers dropped more ordnance on Laos in this period than was dropped during the whole of the Second World War." Well done. do the math on that , and the answer = OVERKILL . Who cares if your B-52 is an indiscriminate death machine ? if that gives you a boner, then fine.
@jers59 I think President Nixon really hated rice, because thats what B-52 payloads mainly hit - paddy fields full of "gooks" - armed with lethal Soviet supplied pitchforks, and high performance water buffalo.
@PurplePunisher69 The B-52 dropped a lot of payload on a lot of things. It probably did some good for the GI's on the ground, because the Viet Cong could have been anywhere - in the mountains, underground, in the jungle, and in those paddy fields too. But you know that's how it was in Nam. If it moved, bomb the shit out of it. It was that kind of war. You don't take chances when the villagers have AK's.
@LateNightCable hmmm, fair enough..but a bit heavy handed - AK47 vs B52 . Its just a theory, but as the US use of force escalated, so did the opposition of the Vietnamese - so many who were neutral, saw their crops, cattle & livelihoods destroyed , and then sided with the communists. Contrast Vietnam with Malaya & Borneo, where British special forces kept the communists busy in direct action engagements deep in the forest, so it didnt affect the locals so much, and the insurgence fizzled out.
@jers59 Ha ha ha what a loser you are you pathetic small minded fool! Yet another British aviation video that you need to troll on. You make me laugh. Sad, sad lonely man! Enjoy the rest of your sad, meaningless life you old fool ;)
@jers59 HA HA HA good job buddy repeating what i said to you again like a parrot. Can't think of any insults of your own because your that uneducated, like a hill billy inbred. Ahhh a bullet in the temple. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not adult enough to be independent. Guns should only be handled by adults. If you're not adult enough to sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist then you're not grown up enough to handle a gun.
@bazman85 Ahole I never sued anyone or been to therapist but your parents should sue the school district you attended because you are one dumb bastard I could sell you sand in the sahara, and I own 4 guns
@jers59 I'm not the sad, lonely, pathetic yank fool trolling all the British aviation videos like a small child spouting about all your shitty junk. Get A LIFE weasel!
@bazman85 I have life will be in Uk march 2 manchester, chorley, liverpool then France I will avoid british beef do not want holes in my brain like you have. PS you want me bring over some tooth paste and tooth brush for you?
@bazman85 You really are idiot Im not going to see the inbreded royal family when Im in Amsterdam what me stop at coffee house and pick you up bag of weed? you are smoking the good shit.
@jers59 It was Brit pilots by the way who taught US pilots how to fly the Harrier...an aircraft that was British designed and built but the USA refused to buy it because the USA did not think of it or build it so typically the AV-8B was born so giving the USA a feeling they designed it. The F111 was also a british design, given away by British politicans for the USA to use. The Hawk (like the Harrier) was "bought" from us in a similar manner as too was the Canberra.
@TalkToTheBody F111 british design thats a good one I see you are smoking the good canabis, only the marines wanted the harrier not the navy not the airforce lets see C17, C130, CH47 AH64 Apache all american aircraft used by brits in the past F4 phantom, sky raider, WW2 B24, Catalina, F4F, F6F, Corsairs, Avengers, C47
Britain would never have "eaten Kraut" if America had stayed out of the war. All plans for invasion were cancelled after they failed to crush the RAF in 1941. The Americans provided the manpower and resources to liberate France, Belgium, Holland but did not save Britain.
An educated American would never have posted such a stupid xenophobic comment.
Listen to a these British or Euro pole smokers. We Americans saved your asses from having to eat kraut and that's the way you speak about us? It's a shame we can go back in time and let you go through all of what you "should have gone through" had the Americans not saved your pussy ass. And by the way, I hope the queen gets gang fucked by a bunch of Arabs!
Answer: December 7th 1941, the day that Pearl Harbour was attacked the Japs and Nazis declared war on the US (not the other way round). Prior to that the US was shipping 'Material' to help the Allies, this Lend Lease programme 41-45 $31.4 billion of help to Britain alone.
But that loan was repaid, every penny with interest! (took till 2006). America was dragged into the war by their enemies not their allies!
Its How the Kennedy's made their millions - Joesph Kennedy was ambassador to Britain, secretly buying industry (distilleries) and were friendly with German interested parties. Irish Bootleggers.
@millimetreperfect Buy globe the US is not located next to europe we did not start either WW1 or WW2 and US never asked for help in civil war or spanish american war
@Biohazard1208 Right so we have established your anger comes from sexual abuse. Who did it? Was It Daddy........oh not that guy who you call uncle? What's that, he's your boyfriend uncle? Oh you enjoyed it and you just hate everyone who doens't talk like John Wayne, now we all understand you!
@Biohazard1208 Think you will find the Russians did pretty well without the USA, in fact who got to Berlin first? Who won in North Africa? Sick of you septics thinking you won the war, it wasnt called a world war for nothing.
Its a well known world fact....Americans are probably the most stupid race of people...EVER.
@Sterlingjob sterlingblowjob, You only won in North Africa after US gave you modern tank the Sherman 1 time US let brit general in charge Arhem operation market garding it led to disaster . Us saved the FAA by giving it modern aircraft F4F,F6F, Corsairs, Avenger torpedo bombers before the FAA had obsolete crap such as swordfish biplanes,
@Sterlingjob Another outed liar Top gun school was set up by Captain Frank Ault (american) Why would US let brit set up top gun school for navy fighter pilots when UK has failed to produce 1 jet ace? Thats like going to auto mechanic for tooth ache
Despite the all-American hero imagery of the film starring Tom Cruise, the US Navy's expertise was in large part due to their instruction by aviators from the Fleet Air Arm.
When British pilots arrived at Miramar airbase in California in the early 1960s the Americans were losing a large number of dogfights in their multi-million Phantom fighters to the enemy's relatively "cheap" MiG 21s.
The tuition from the British pilots, all graduates of the intense Air Warfare Instructors school in Scotland
@Sterlingjob Another lie in early 1960,s there was no air to air combat in pacific Vietnam started after Gulf of Tonkin incident 1964 the air war 1965 The FAA pilots record in air to air combat WW2 not that outstanding It was US fast carriers the Essex class that won WW2 Okinawa RN taskforce 57 destroys 75 jap aircraft, US task force 58 destroys 1.908 jap aircraft. Admiral King wanted RN kept out of the pacific because it slowed his carriers down . Still waiting for names of brit jet aces.
What a machine!

MrDarwinsDog 5 months ago
@MrDarwinsDog russian looking?? you obviously haven't seen the V bombers of the raf (the valiant, vulcan and victor) all beautiful looking aircraft , the valiant in the mid 50's and the vulacn and victor in the 60's. There overall design was years ahead of other aircraft of the time and had beautiful blending of fuselage and wing.
pramboy09 5 months ago
@pramboy09 Lol, I think that russian planes are much more beautiful than americans.

@pramboy09 I dont care its british or american in the same way as americans dont care if its ukraine or russia. And im totally not joking. Look at Su-47, T-50, Su-35 and IL-76. They are all awesome looking.

@MrDarwinsDog i would say it is the other way round if you look to see when the british v bombers were designed.

This aircraft ranks in my top five of the ugliest aircrafts I ever laid my eyes upon.
pacidessi 7 months ago
@pacidessi ugliest???????? i think you need your eyes tested the victor was designed in the early 50's and had a beautiful wing shape that had the engines blended into the wing and the overall design i think looks far more modern that it really is. I believe the b-52 is far uglier than the victor the b-52 may have been far more capable as a bomber but to the eye i know what i prefer.
pramboy09 5 months ago
@pacidessi
You have a top 5 ugliest aircraft list?
Oh dear.
tomaroony 2 months ago
@OceansApprentice Oh by the way the Vulcans never did in-flt refuelling with hercules in the falklands war. Victors however did provide fuel for hercules shortly after the war when an airbridge was set up between ascension and port stanley but they had to perform it in a steep dive due to the airspeed requirements of both aircraft were so different. Hercules also had to be fitted with refuelling probes in 1982 to cater for the war requirements as no probes were fitted to hercs before then.
TalkToTheBody 7 months ago
@OceansApprentice When the war started the Victors were quite quickly sent to Ascension Island. 55 and 57 sqn left just a few aircraft at Marham whilst most were in Ascension. Lack of crews, would have caused a lack of Victors in the UK and maybe the Vulcan crews used a modified USAF herc to practice in-flt refuelling. Personally I have never seen an in-flight refuelling herc, although the RAF had to modify some hercs for this purpose. RAF VC-10 tankers were not even thought of back then
TalkToTheBody 7 months ago
@agibbs98 try again B52,s flew the most sucessful bombing campaign in history operation linebacker, 1972 when they went up against the most heavily defended air space in history North Vietnam against 1200 soviet sams and bombed the gooks back to peace table vulcan only mission they put crater in airfield guarded by unmotivated argie conscripts and needed US Shrike missile to do it
jers59 7 months ago
@jers59 Whatever else they did, they didn't "bomb the gooks back to the peace table". At least not in the world I grew up in.
Erictheirritated 7 months ago
@OceansApprentice Oh come on don't listen to USAF stories because they're full of bullshit. Trust me RAF Vulcan crews got most of what they needs for night refuelling from RAF Victor crews. Waddington was the only RAF Airbase that had operational Vulcan's in 1982 and it's not too far from RAF Marham where the Victor's were. The airframs also use similar structures and components so cross-training was relatively easy. The Vulcan and Victor crews were working close together back then
TalkToTheBody 7 months ago
@OceansApprentice Well that's a new one on me as I did not know this. I was very involved in the Victor detachment at RAF Marham and Ascension Island and I never heard of USAF training the RAF Vulcan pilots. I cannot see the point as the USAF mainly use the boom method and the RAF use the Probe and Drogue. If my memory serves me right the Vulcan crews got trained up using Victors as that was what was going to take them down to Stanley anyway and the Victor crews.
TalkToTheBody 7 months ago
@agibbs98 well I'm afraid to say the Vulcan pilot's got their skills from the Victors. The delay in getting the Vulcan to Port Stanley was their probes were sealed with concrete and had been inhibited for years. The Vulcan's as well as the Victors also needed to be equipped with RWR and Omega and they had to practice the refuelling in Snake Climbs

@agibbs98 every nation. that has ever went to war. has hit civilians sadly
yamahonkawazuki 7 months ago
@agibbs98 True but not really comparable like for like. In terms of accuracy the Vulcan won Red Flag more than the B-52. Apart from a last minute call up for Falklands duty and even that brought out problems the Vulcan was never really needed in it's lifetime, it was not because it did not get the chance. No point in starting a war to test hardware is it...unless you happen to be American ;) As for the B52 it was primarily a high altitude carpet bomber and any dude can do that.
TalkToTheBody 7 months ago
@agibbs98 The Vulcan actually won most of the Red Flag bombing tournaments in Nevada against the B-52 for years, the RAF also fooled the USAF on occassions by hiding fighters beneath or above its delta wings so that only one blip appeared on radar.
TalkToTheBody 7 months ago
@TalkToTheBody give the dates of these red flag bombing tornaments. You know what you cannot because its bullshit
jers59 7 months ago
@jers59 I certainly can, I was an engineer on 57 Sqn Victors at RAF Marham (Apr 1980 - Apr 1986) and was heavily involved with the Falklands operations and Red Flag etc. I was also on the Guard of Honour at Marham for 3 or 4 years and one of the things we did was the awards ceremony for the bombing competition. I do recall the Vulcans often won the bombing competition but the B52's won on the first year Tornados were used instead of Vulcans (not sure what that year was , prob about 1983)

PurplePunisher69 9 months ago
@PurplePunisher69 Lets see you had pscho last year murdered around 13 people in northern Uk you had mall shooting in Holland 2 days ago, the maniac who murdered school children in Scotland, Uk invented the serial killer Jack the Ripper I believe they had maniac in Finland, germany gunning down people. I should stay in US its lot safer here and I have 3 M1 Garands and Ruger 357 Blackhawk revolver for protection do not have to wait for armed responce to be called from donut shop
jers59 9 months ago
@jers59 if you just search for the term "going postal" , it comes from the US - and there is actually a whole long list solely devoted to actual postal worker murders - let alone ones on school/college campuses - try searching for "school shootings" and it seems that there has been nearly 100 since 1966 - and then try "mall shooting", then "parking lot" ...so in essence, your country has too many guns, and too many whackos. Safer in the US ? I'd invest in a 7.62mm Minigun, just in case, buddy
PurplePunisher69 9 months ago
@PurplePunisher69 Getting rid of some dead beat postal workers is good thing and I could list the long line of british serial killers starting with jack the ripper, the husband and wife team the doctor who offed all his patients. jers59 9 months ago
@jers59 what...getting rid of the same smiley postal workers who deliver your welfare check ? And BTW as America usually excels at most things, as well as all the good, you should accept that the USA leads the world in serial killers..do you think they would have ever have set Silence Of the Lambs in the UK ? US serial killers get to have big budget films made..Ted Bundy, The Boston Strangler, Eileen Wuornos, but yet to see a Jeff Dahmer one..you guys lead the way in disenfranchised loners

benjjohnson 9 months ago
@benjjohnson That wasn't the Vulcan's fault, they were shitty bombs!
TheFunkadelicFan 9 months ago
@benjjohnson The problem was not the bombs that were dropped on Port Stanley but the navigational systems used on the Vulcan were ancient. The H2S radar was actually grabbed from the AVRO Lancaster. The problem with the Nav Systems was that they had no nav beacons to navigate with over such a long distance from Ascension Island and so it was done on dead reckoning. When the Vulcan's arrived over Stanley they had just one pass and some were many miles out so had to correct at last minute
TalkToTheBody 7 months ago
@benjjohnson it actually hit the runway, but at the end of it.
TalkToTheBody 3 months ago
@agibbs98 btw actually the B52 is a great plane - its just that it due to American foreign policy & the advent of ICBM'S , it found itself having to validate the rest of its life ( after SALT , many went to Davis-Monthan) as a iron-dropping mud mover. I mean, they couldn't scrap them all..how would Boeing react ? . If Britain had adapted the Vulcan into a heavy conventional bomber, to fight wars like Vietnam, then many more would be in the air today.

InfiniteMushroom 11 months ago
@InfiniteMushroom Hmmmm, not sure you've got your facts right here. The civil list was granted in exchange for the government taking ownership of all Crown Property - quite a good deal, as at today's prices this is worth billions. I suggest you buy yourself a history book, and don't go regurgitating all the lefty nonsense you have heard someone else say.
iddodaphne 11 months ago
@iddodaphne As long as the British government owns the industry in the name of the British people, that's O.K. I marvel how the government will either sell off industries to foreign companies or let them go under. The U.K. once had a large military-industrial complex. What happened? Look at the Saunders-Roe Princess flying boat! Had London kept it alive, it would be a big seller now that there is a need for such aircraft. Flying boats can't be built because the expertise and tooling is lost.
InfiniteMushroom 11 months ago
@InfiniteMushroom But you god dam americans just luuuuuurve our royal family. If you know anything about the royal family you will realise they only cost us 69p each per year.
Sterlingjob 11 months ago
@Sterlingjob The upkeep may be low but, the royals OWN everything else! Upkeep is a false argument given the long chain of ownership that traces almost everything in the world back to the Queen and her fellow sovereigns, i.e. Queen Beatrix and the Pope. The Royal families of the world may not be involved in the day to day political machinations but, that's not important to them. The governments of the world are their hirelings and work to ensure a steady flow of tribute to the royal coffers.

FACT
PurplePunisher69 1 year ago

Yes, and likewise , the British went to the States to show the USMC how to adapt to the Harrier. In short, you are trolling a Brit vid just for the sake of a fight, arent you ? And well done , for the B-52. Those poor Laotian farmers must have been one hell of a tough enemy.

jers59 1 year ago
@jers59 The Ho Chi Minh trail went through Laos, the most heavily aerially bombed country in history. To quote - "Laos was hit by an average of one B-52 bombload every eight minutes, 24 hours a day, between 1964 and 1973. US bombers dropped more ordnance on Laos in this period than was dropped during the whole of the Second World War." Well done. do the math on that , and the answer = OVERKILL . Who cares if your B-52 is an indiscriminate death machine ? if that gives you a boner, then fine.
PurplePunisher69 1 year ago

@PurplePunisher69 The B-52 dropped a lot of payload on a lot of things. It probably did some good for the GI's on the ground, because the Viet Cong could have been anywhere - in the mountains, underground, in the jungle, and in those paddy fields too. But you know that's how it was in Nam. If it moved, bomb the shit out of it. It was that kind of war. You don't take chances when the villagers have AK's.
LateNightCable 9 months ago
@LateNightCable hmmm, fair enough..but a bit heavy handed - AK47 vs B52 . Its just a theory, but as the US use of force escalated, so did the opposition of the Vietnamese - so many who were neutral, saw their crops, cattle & livelihoods destroyed , and then sided with the communists. Contrast Vietnam with Malaya & Borneo, where British special forces kept the communists busy in direct action engagements deep in the forest, so it didnt affect the locals so much, and the insurgence fizzled out.

TalkToTheBody 7 months ago

@Biohazard1208
Question: When did the US enter the war
Answer: December 7th 1941, the day that Pearl Harbour was attacked the Japs and Nazis declared war on the US (not the other way round). Prior to that the US was shipping 'Material' to help the Allies, this Lend Lease programme 41-45 $31.4 billion of help to Britain alone.
But that loan was repaid, every penny with interest! (took till 2006). America was dragged into the war by their enemies not their allies!

Sterlingjob 1 year ago
@Sterlingjob sterlingblowjob, You only won in North Africa after US gave you modern tank the Sherman 1 time US let brit general in charge Arhem operation market garding it led to disaster . Us saved the FAA by giving it modern aircraft F4F,F6F, Corsairs, Avenger torpedo bombers before the FAA had obsolete crap such as swordfish biplanes,
jers59 1 year ago
@jers59 And who setup top navy fighter college in the USA? A fleet air arm pilot? Why? Because you septics didnt have a clue how to dogfight. FACT.
Sterlingjob 1 year ago
@Sterlingjob Another outed liar Top gun school was set up by Captain Frank Ault (american) Why would US let brit set up top gun school for navy fighter pilots when UK has failed to produce 1 jet ace? Thats like going to auto mechanic for tooth ache
jers59 1 year ago
Despite the all-American hero imagery of the film starring Tom Cruise, the US Navy's expertise was in large part due to their instruction by aviators from the Fleet Air Arm.
When British pilots arrived at Miramar airbase in California in the early 1960s the Americans were losing a large number of dogfights in their multi-million Phantom fighters to the enemy's relatively "cheap" MiG 21s.
The tuition from the British pilots, all graduates of the intense Air Warfare Instructors school in Scotland
Sterlingjob 1 year ago
@Sterlingjob Another lie in early 1960,s there was no air to air combat in pacific Vietnam started after Gulf of Tonkin incident 1964 the air war 1965 The FAA pilots record in air to air combat WW2 not that outstanding It was US fast carriers the Essex class that won WW2 Okinawa RN taskforce 57 destroys 75 jap aircraft, US task force 58 destroys 1.908 jap aircraft. Admiral King wanted RN kept out of the pacific because it slowed his carriers down . Still waiting for names of brit jet aces.
