The world's first soft bullet-proof vest, invented in the late 1860s in the Joseon Dynasty, modern day Republic of Korea. It was invented following the French Campaign against Korea, 1866 and used in battle during the United States expedition to Korea in 1871. It was made of between 13 and 30 folds of cotton fabric and covered the upper torso. it stopped matchlock rifle at around 100 meters. The US army captured one of the vests and took it to the US. The vest was stored in the Smithsonian Museum
So a Pryzbiterian minister made a percussion cap for guns (if you watch the sniper weaponoly you will know) and a priest made body armor, whats up with all the religious people making things to deal with weapons lol.
@shazdee yeah it maybe illegal but we don't have fucked up gun laws making every one having a semi-full auto assault rifle in the cupboard ether preparing for some unknown upcoming war or supposed "home defense"
@shadow2155 True but it would still be good to have when you're hunting with multiple people. Not to mention criminals have guns. Remember Christopher Hudson shot his girlfriend and two people who tried to help her in Melbourne. I bet they would have liked to have been wearing a second chance jacket. I bet the people at Port Arthur and monash uni would also have wanted one. Pistols and rifles are still legal in Australia and everyone has access to a knife.
@shazdee having a bullet proof vest in Australia is just pointless around 65 ppl each year are killed my guns in Australia an 9/10 are suicides compared to America 30,000 each year and as for hunting idk if you have ever been hunting before but to ware some thing like a bullet proof vest out in the bush is beyond stupid but if your really that paranoid about some one shooting or stabbing you go to aussie disposals get an ex mil vest an duct take some 3mm steel plats to it
@shazdee I think, if you are considering body armor, because you are hunting with several people, first thing, you should change, is the composition of your hunting party. Do NOT bring former Haliburton CEO's or other idiots, who do not know, how to safely treat firearms, or to stick to hunting rules.
@shadow2155 It is idiotic to prevent people wearing defense aids no matter which way you spin it. And as for the US, you CAN buy weapons, its not a duty as far as I know (European guy here).
@52111centrumcz Its a right given to all United States citizens. Although we are not allowed to buy fully automatic weapons that were made after the 1980's. If you have a very special and hard to obtain license you can, but usually people modify their weapons illegally since it is less of a hassle. (minus all the jail time should you get caught)
@52111centrumcz You mean about the full automatics? No it was mostly because back in the prohibition period (1930's) American gangsters used fully automatic weapons against police officers, such as the Thompson submachine gun and even the B.A.R. You can see how it worked out though. All the criminals still have the fully automatic weapons and all the law abiding citizens are struggling just to keep their deer rifles and pistols from the politicians who want to make firearms illegal.
That's what I mean. The gov. uses the bureaucratic logic - we ban it, thieves won't have it! Then along comes a black market weaponsmith who says - for 40$ ill remachine a couple of pieces of forged iron and give 'em to you, and it will go full auto - no bill, no refund, no receipt, no questions asked!
actually that's just army bull. the cia, civilian contractors, and even generals wear dragon skin over in iraq and afghanistan and it gets ridiculously hot over there
of course it was made in europe haha america was not even found then the only people in america was the natives

What garbage. They completely skipped between the 1500s and the 1920s, but there was lots of experimentation with steel armour in WW1

Body armor is illegal in Australia. How fucked is that? Our own government denies us a safety device.
