  • I love this vid. You say it's a layland motor, was that an albion licence made engine?

  • ooo kurwaaa ;d

  • theres no wayy

  • get that fucker and move it

  • looks like a fairground generator truck

  • compression sounds nice and even while cranking...solid engine!

  • Goddamnit, she's a tough one!

  • Gardiner Engine? 6 wheel drive?

  • @Mercmad It's a leyland engine. Yea six wheel drive.

  • Thats great the thing still runs.....like LeSedici said...back when engines were engines

  • Do you try to repair this before the filming?

Engine starts and works very good...

  • @dezamet023 No it always started no problem. All i done was check oil put two batteries in and some diesel and bleed the system and some water that's all.

  • @tescoireland1234 Mhm. How long Scammell stayed unused?

  • @dezamet023 Was last on the road 87 or 88.

  • do you still have this?

  • @D12caterpillar Oh yea it's parked up in the back of a yard waiting to be restored.

  • @tescoireland1234 ok, glad its not crushed lol

  • I take it it's an irish vid. I saw a 65 one of these in the howth transport museum in Dublin. That one could been driven. And they were popular with showmen carnies and the like.

  • @loatherd Was filmed in dublin so yes an irish vid. The transport museum in howth wanted to get there hands on it a few years back. They were told it was not for sale the guy then told me they would not pay for it they wanted it for free.

  • @tescoireland1234 yea correct. they have'nt a pot to piss in but do good work. I would have thought Wicklow but i stand corrected. You say leyland. was that a licence albion motor?

  • Holy shit i did not expect that thing to crank or move

  • That has to be the work of a Paddy!

  • that is awesome :D

  • Now that's reliable transportation!!!

  • @22ratshot You should dream of ever owning a machine that delivers the return on investment that old beast did over it's lifetime!

  • @somesimplename1 I do dream of it. We had an old duece& a half (Hurley)that we used as a tanker in the VFD. I was out voted and we replaced it with a new truck. The new truck doesn't hold as much H2O and wont go too far from the pavement. I really miss "Ole Hurley."

  • that started up pritty darn good

  • steeringweel is on the wrong side lol

  • Nice job getting the old iron going again--did you just jump the connection battery to starter or also fool with the fuel system/ignition? Engine sounds good ;-)

  • the thing is why no one stall the gas !!!

  • that really wants to go hahahaha

  • Always neat when a truck like that starts up and runs out of the scrap yard. Plans on restoring it?

  • I wanna see it go for a ride! :)

  • Lovely good old british diesel!! Please restore it!

  • @rhondaw1 and you can see the exhaust coming out from underneath.....doubt by the condition of the rest of the metal and the sound that the exhaust on top is still attached

  • no way!

  • and now who is so strong to use it for work??i'm feeling tired just watching!

  • @rhondaw1 If you look at the belt on the front of the engine, you can see that it is moving. :)

  • @rhondaw1 don't be stupid why would they fake this? what would actually be the point? It won't earn them money or fame, stop trying to be clever -_- the exhaust had probably rusted away or become disconnected and was ejecting from nearer the engine

  • ...they dont make them like they used to lol

  • @tescoireland1234 ok it's amazing it still goes. I thought you may have made it appear that way for the video...you know.

  • Oh ok, I watched part 2. It does look like the motor is working in part 2. Seems too old to to though.

  • Tip of the hat mate...great job getting that old "iron" going..hope someone restores her....love a happy ending...

  • Грозого вида экипаж !

  • @Wessexify can you give an english translation to your comment please?

  • @tescoireland1234 Rocky machine !

  • @tescoireland1234, he said "Threatened species crew'

  • @tescoireland1234 Google translate: Threatened species crew!

  • it would be awsome if it was restored

  • This is so cool! Fantastic stuff!

  • she had no problem unlocking her own tires!!

  • Random thoughts :)

    * Managed to set a car alarm off with it!

    * Well, now I know what to try and salvage as transport after a nuclear holocaust.

    * Let's play Count The Gearsticks! I think I can see at least 4, maybe 5 - with the main one having a bizarre gate that looks like it belongs on a spaceship, or maybe a weaving loom (6sp + reverse, btw?) - and 2-3 handbrake levers. What in the world? :D

  • no offence it should be restored this is good engineering in its time instead of rusting away

  • Amazing!

  • just wondering how a lovely old beast like this is not restored to its former glory it would look fantastic at the classic truck events

  • Companies would go out of business and the equipment was left to rot.

Some of this old machinery was parked and forgotten, in running condition.

    The generator probably works too.

When I was in my teens I used to roam the backwoods of Texas and Oklahoma on a motorcycle looking for old and odd stuff like this.

    Things you wouldn't believe.

I never had enough money to buy anything back then and I couldn't afford a camera.

Oh how things have changed...wish I could go do it again.

    It's still there.

  • Nice. I did that with an old beetle I found in the woods.

  • @ethanvid did it start?

  • @19FD89 Yeah, but not too well. Witch is why it was probably left there. Blown piston sleeve. But still, it was fun to get it to fire up.

  • If only vehicles were made like they used to be. Not only did it start, it moved and sounded like it still had a lot of life. Sad how things have changed so much that a car can sit for a month or so and need extensive repairs to get moving again.

  • That is so cool! You should do her up and make films of it for us.

  • back when an engine was an engine, not a freakin computer. Love it!

  • @LeSedici I hear yeah. yeesh.

Alittle cleanoff and some welds and shes good to go!

I'd like to see anything made today do that 50 years from now.

  • ill, just, go, ahead, and, put it right...... here

  • Hell yeah

  • Very cool old truck! What's the story on the cool old generator in the back??

  • @realvanman1 It spent most of it's life on a funfair so that's what the generator was used for.

  • maybe the transmission is not good, but the truck is ok !! XD

  • @kapitankolt1911 The transmission works fine.

  • How many years stand the truck incredbile it can starts after so mutch years

  • ...she started right up w/just a charged battery! That lady's a keeper... fix 'er up! She'll do a farm well as your all-around work-truck... Man, brings back memories of my ol' farm days- when we'd did th' same w/an ol' '32 Ford Model T truck.(an' she's still workin'!

  • juz był wcześniej przygotowany i odpalony.

  • un freakin believable, too bad they dont make that quality anymore!

  • I can buy your truck and how much do you want for it?

  • @cool12139 It's not for sale

  • Was the project ever completed!

  • @Billyking1313 it hasn't even started yet. waiting for the man who is going to restore it to make some room in his yard.

  • @tescoireland1234 how much does it cost to restore?

  • I see the air conditioning works fine LOL

  • Wonderful, she looked so sad there all alone and unloved. It's great to see she is going to be restored. Nice!

  • wow it moved :)

  • wow it

     moved

  • please explain the shifting pattern O_o

  • That awesome

  • That's awesome! It's not locked up or anything! completely free... After sitting for so long its hard to beleive...

  • I love it when, after sitting for years, a vehicle turns out to be a runner. I remember seeing an old White Super Power get started, and moved 4 miles under its own power, after sitting in one spot for around 30 years. I was told that I saw the second start that week. The first start was to see if the engine would turn, and it accidentally started. After that, they replaced a few parts, and gave it a rough tune up, so it could be driven.

  • and why you didnt drive it and park it to your garage ?

  • at 1:22 i was shocked like :O

  • i need one lol

  • it lives amazing

  • is it for sale i want to restore this vehicle

  • she's not for sale. it's going back to england soon to be restored.

  • They sure dont make them like they use too. Thats a fact!!

  • @quinlanguy101 your exactly right. its like that with everything now.

  • That's cool!!

  • Yea it is a layland 680 engine and im not stupid the oil was checked and the engine had been started and warmed up before recording this video.

  • Yard Art in my neck of the woods! Thumbs up!

  • @Hallaran Thanks

  • To your knowledge how big of a difference is there in that truck and the same model and the one made by White?

  • its true, they don't make them like they used to

  • My god does scammel makes cars cause i need one

  • good video keep posting, i love hidden irish gems !

  • That's incredible.

  • nice video thanks for posting :)

  • Is it thrown in the middle of no where, abandoned?

  • @garrett6699 no it's parked in the back of a yard.

  • @tescoireland1234 no need to fill it up and the battery was charged? strange...

  • sorry my last comment got posted twice.

  • @shabear1000 the more comment's the better.

  • ARE YOU KIDDEN? un beliefeable! super cool video my friend. thank you for shareing this clip.

  • what are those roller in the back for? u can see them @ 0:15 behind this watter can.

  • @saaremaa2007 they are for the 100 ton winch cable that is fitted. should be going for restoration very soon.

  • @saaremaa2007 if you look at my other video of this truck you'll see the workings of the winch behind the cab. scammell pt2.

  • Dude.... if I were you, I would definitely get it properly restored and then it would be a beauty.

  • it's not a truck ! - It's a lorry surely !!!

Great to see it come to life. Old beasts like this had character and deserve to be preserved. Good luck with it. Great video.

  • super

  • nice touch mate

  • thank's man

  • oh yeah, get that fkr goin,,,,,,, yeah.

  • I can't believe it! 22 years stopped in that state and starts at first time.

  • wonder how oil and gas looks like after sitting for 22years

  • @soverato3 has the same oil but i made sure there was enough in it and free from water as for the fuel there was fresh diesel put in it.

  • @soverato3 it gets really thick and black

  • how long did it sit

  • so far 21 or 22 years.

  • does the tranny work??

  • yea not a bother.

  • well done ,

  • Hope its being restored now

  • Oh shit! It still works! And you also set off car alarms! AWESOME!

  • Get Georgie McCormack under that for an hour or two and she'll be back on the road in no time :)

  • thats a banger karl .. tell joe he is a bad camara man :)... o and the truck is going in november :0 we all hope

  • I know the guy who was driving

    His names Karl .. !!

  • When are we gonna see some more vids on this truck?

  • Why do people own trucks like this, sat in the yard rotting away - yet WON'T sell them???

If I was the owner and couldn't/didn't want to restore it, I'd be happy for someone lese to have it, then I could see it again at a show in all it's former glory!

  • Fantastic! Great to see it run again!

  • Have you got the old girl out to restore yet ??

  • al finla lo arreglaron?? o que paso?

  • nice man, wouldnt that gas be stale or something tho. im sure somthing has to go wrong over 20 years

  • @moni370 nah, diesel doesn't really go bad as long as it doesn't freeze

  • @moni370 Why is there a fuel can sitting on the bonnet?????????

  • I used it as a diesel tank, the orignal is by passed.

  • @tescoireland1234 Not you mate, I was ribbing Moni370 who seemed to think you were pulling fuel from the vehicle's tank. I didn't think I needed to add " watch carefully and read title before commenting :) " Best of luck with the project.

  • how can that thing even run

  • Thats BRILLIANT !!! It started better than many a car I have had in the past....!! Sounds like a Routemaster Bus. I like it. :-)

  • brilliant good ol scammells

  • Fantastic stuff! Keep up the good work.

  • I thought it would be a Gardner, starting that easily after that many years

  • Comment removed

  • its in the dublin area, i looked at it myself a couple of yrs ago, he said they would'nt sell it, a pity because its vulnerable to vandals where it is, 1 match and its good bye!! reg no.vxd 535, ex pickfords i think, never re registered here, worked in dublin port??..before ending up with the fairground, ..leyland engine, pity to see

  • Were is it? I want it!!!!

  • Now that was a real surprise, I didn't expect it to start never mind actuallly move!!

    Tremendous!!

Is there any known history of the life of this truck?

  • A Scammell in the hand is worth two in a bush. Lets all hope that, God willing, this magnificent old lorry finds a loving home, is restored, and put back on the road.
