Amazing how adamant some people are about the "Jeff/No Jeff" issue. I love ELO, I love ELO Part 2. Jeff was a genius. If you can't read into his deep lyrics, go back and read them again. But there are really good songs in the post-Jeff era that are also very good. This is one of them.
No offense to all the "Jeff Lynne Is God" fans out there, but Mr. Lynne, in all of his time as leader of ELO, NEVER had a tune that had as deep of lyrics.
A lot of people say that ELO is not the continuation of ELO, but it's restoration back to the 70s sound after Jeff Lynn went into the disco sound, synthpop sound, and whatever you want to classify his last two albums. They were great albums, but it seemed like by the end there wasn't a whole lot of "Orchestra" left.
This is a great song. Eric's got a lovely voice and knows exactly what he's doing with this song. They don't need someone like Jeff claiming all the glory now.
The Orchestra now have alot of their own material and relying less and less on the Lynne tunes, they are now the best bits of the ELO,ELO pt 2 all wrapped into one, fantastic live,go see them in their new tour from sept in the UK.
A fantastic song. Great melody, great depth, great sound. Miles ahead of everything on Zoom, which was simply Jeff Lynne going (painfully) through the motions.
ELO Part 2 was completely unappreciated! This is an excellent song! They have reformed under the name "The Orchestra" and are preparing for a Fall '08 Tour in the UK.
I [George Reed] directed this for the ELO Pt 2 documentary Access All Areas in 95. Eric and me were in his Chicago hotel room and out of time, so we sat in front of the TV, tuned to an off air channel and rolled. When he's looking down he's reading the lyrics off his laptop because he couldn't remember the lines. The band footage was shot in AC, NJ. Eric's a great pal and a dichotomy, he's a gifted artist and good looking guy but so insecure in front of the camera, gotta love him for that!
Hey leslo glad you did it. Strange watching it after all these years, brings back loads of great memories, when I was still a cocked-eyed optimist thinking I could change the world, HA! Cheers, George
thanks,Eric Troyer is a great writer and a very talented man in his own right, even working with John Lennon on final fantasy,he was a perfect choice for ELO pt 2.I'll see what videos I can put up.
Nice vid. From the Acess All Areas DVD I believe. I love that DVD. Amazing performance of "Standin' In The Rain" from them. Check out my videos if you're interested.
Hi Bob,yes you know your right, and I'm always looking at your vids lol, just thought I'd take the pressure of you a bit and put one up.Oi and I rated yours....
Glad you rated it. I was amazed by the interest of people on Youtube who love ELO/ELO Pt. 2 Rare videos. I got so many requests! My video of Roll Over Beethoven got something like 16,000 view counts, and I only uploaded it three months ago! Looking forward to seeing more great videos of ELO/Pt. 2 on Youtube...
WHen ELO2 came to my city about 15 years ago, they were just labeled ELO in all the ads and stuff. I thought it was very misleading.

Please base your comments on the band ELO part II and not the original lineup of ELO consisting of Lynne& Bevan...some people can't read..haha
I admit it's kinda hard not to compare em..since part II consists of members of the 70s lineup. lol
Part II did some pretty good music..i enjoyed both their 1991 debut and "moment of truth"(1994)

Great song. Although Jeff is not with them, they made great music.
Let's get them back so those who have always loved ELO can have them back and continuing.
Jeff's own words were that ELO was about a continuing, evolving sound.
ELO Part II is that continuing evolution.

Too bad this wasn't 1 of their 1st singles. Great lyrics and a lot (not all) of that classic ELO sound.

I thought this was a great song when I first heard it on the Access All Area's DVD. Shame it never made a studio album.
Met Eric, Mik, Kelly etc after a show in Bristol and they couldn't have been nicer! Great :0)
