Well... Im sure she'd make a metric fuck load more in nascar. Being a woman driver and all. That is something they havent seen... Put Palin's face on the car and those rednecks would eat up.
You know, you sound like a complete jackass. There really is much more that just "making 4 left turns all day". You need to have camber and caster correct. Also there is a ton of time trying to get the most power out of the engine and to the wheels. I'd like to see you try a whole race. Keep in mind, they don't have power steering. By the way, I'm not really a NASCAR fan either.
And of course there is getting the car set up for tracks that include right turns.
When you're so close to people and you don't pay very good attention, you could end up destroying the million dollar car. I remember my dad's 86 Chevy K10 Suburban losing the power steering belt and it was a bitch to turn it. The fucker weighed like 6000lbs. Imagine steering somethink like that for a few hours. You WILL be exhausted.
Even though there is the weight difference NASCAR stock cars run like 15" wide tires so I'm pretty sure it'll ware you out. Try it some time.
I mentioned the Suburban because it's harder to steer a vehicle when the pump doesn't work than it would be it the vehicle didn't have power steering. My '77 280Z isn't very hard to steer and it doesn't have power steering. Put 15" wide tires on all four corners, and then it'll be a real bitch to steer it.
It may be borring to WATCH NASCAR, but DRIVING is way different. If you actually thought about it, you would realize that.
I know, I've dont it before. When I did that I was in my '77 280Z. No power steering and a 4 speed tranny. At least the car isn't that big and is fairly light. Had to turn my dad's '86 Suburban around on a narrow 2 lane street when the power steering belt came off. So much fun trying to get that 6000lbs beast to turn with it's almost 130" wheelbase.
sorry about the dick head reply but yeah.. turning them things is a bitch. Kinda miss it actually, the lack of power steering keeps you from over turning in my opinion.
Yeah i had a s-10 with a 4.3 ( i think ?) v6 with standard everything, '89 ( a light truck but still a damn pain) and a 66 mustang with standard everything... The mustang was complete junk so i aint bragging about the mustang though! That thing was crap when i got it.
It's all good dude. Though I gotta agree with you on one thing. Power steering does help prevent orver turning. I don't know about you, but to me it seems like whenever I drive an automatic after driving a stick shift, I always try to pust the clutch in when I go to start it even though there isn't one. Damn automatics, people are just too lazy hahaha.
Yeah i almost fall asleep when ever i drive an auto... The one thing that always kinda scared me about manual steering was i always felt i was gonna snap the steering column whenever i was parking parallel. Wet roads no problem but if your at a stand still always keep that thing moving or you'll never move the wheel.
I feel the same way about autos, and almost the same with parallel parking. When my 280Z runs(I think I need to replace the head on it right now as well as 2 pistons), the steering is still a bitch, but isn't that bad though since it weighs about 3000 with me in it(I weigh like 230 or 240).
I say : GO GET THEM GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they put OBAMAs face on the back of any of them cars I am sure them rednecks would be ramming their front ends hard into each other back ends.

Well im sure any black face would encourage that ;)

i dont know if id make a sport out of making 4 left turns all day... sounds a little like circle ville...
And dont start with me where they occasionally race on ACTUAL race tracks with right and left turns.

Well now your talking about pit crew prep... And i have owned vehicles with manual transmissions and manual steering...
Im not saying they cant drive... im just surprised they dont fall asleep. Its more or less an endurance trial.
You or i could drive around (top speed) in circles for hours but goddamn... what a bore. no wonder people get drunk at those things.

I have dick head. Try parallel parking a car with manual steering and standard transmission in the city... A real blast.
