  • oh.. i'll watch the next epi..

  • you did not have to remove ireland from that picture back then ireland was in the uk and the north did not exsist

  • Penis and vagina are directly taken from from Latin.

  • lol

  • I like

  • What happened to Ireland?!?! Why is only the northern part shown? That didn't happen until the 1920s. Did the southern part of the island just sink into the sea?

  • Now I know

  • Very nice presentation. Attractive for young learners.

  • Now, apart from getting plenty of video views, what exactly is the point of splitting a 10-minute video up in 10 parts? It's not like anyone would watch only the second half or so...

  • @Millhouse013 if you use the playlist you can watch all 10 in the right order at once.

  • @OUlearn I did use the playlist. That still lets me wait through 10 page loads instead of one, and 10 Intros instead of one, without having any clear upside whatsoever.

  • If your clitoris was on your ankle, you know you'd be one of two things:

    1. pissed you kept hitting it on stuff.

    or

    2. tickling it all the time when no one was watching.

  • I have just found this awesome poster, this poster shows our early English heroes from the 'Adventus Saxonum'499 AD and warband leaders Hengist and Horsa, through to King Harold and Hereward 'the Wake' ,all depicted against the backdrop of a dramatic cliff side setting. and below a corresponding description, Little has been done to make ourselves or our children proud of our own English heroes. This poster puts that right at last. you can get it at wyrdart (.) co (.) uk <remove brackets.

  • LOL

  • Actually many of them are not just invented, but came from greek words.

Cardiac, electricity and clitoris are some of them.

  • @veteran2004 but they were used with the modern connotation for the first time in that era.

Of course they had to "invent" them based on something that already existed, like everything in our society, or Universe.

  • this is all very entrtaining but i've actually hardly learned anything about the history of the english language.

this is all just a bunch of anecdotes really.

I still have no idea of what the language was actually like at these times because the presenter speaks in modern day english.

this is more whimsical than learning.

  • @tremault Excuse me. Did you expect to learn those things "in ten minutes" per the title, or did you follow the series expecting to be disappointed?

Poor decision making on your part, then, huh.

  • @NerdzClub2 the channel is called OUlearn as in LEARN. not listen to anecdotes.

my decision making is fine thank you.

  • Uh... Terram.

  • @BobSF94117

Wow, you're the only one that caught that, from the looks of things. Good show!

  • Female genitalia is an enigma.
