A few things to say, these are good licks, of course you can't cover all of Kirk hammett's different tonalities/scales and arpeggios in one lesson, but very good.

it's easy for Norwegian to learn swedish, it's hard to learn danish, but if sweden and danmark had to learn norwegian, it always end in a funnt mess of failures, i love that guitar. was in geiranger hotel, the band that was playing live at night,, very god band, they could play anything you asked, perfectly, and the guitar player had that guitar, and i asked to try it,, fuck it was so nice to play.. i miss that feeling later my long haired friend.. broke it.. drunken fool! still poor today :D

All you need to do to play a Kirk Hammet style riff, would be to use the E pentatonic scale and use wah.

Nothing complicated.

I have never understood how to get these sounds, overdrive, reverb, delay, sustain? someone help please. Too many on here talk about playing but no-one really mentions how to get the sound. Is it because it's little playing and all effects and no one wants to let the cat out of the bag? I play telecaster through a marshall 69 valve bluesbreaker combo, can play well dry, what effects do you recommend to get a more pro sound?

@mugsymalon He's just using a lot of distortion. I'm sure your amplifier might have distortion built in. It might even have reverb built in. Sustain isn't an effect, it's what happens when you keep a note playing for a long time.

@ThatGodDude thanks for the post. Yes if I crank up the amp I do get a natural valve distortion but not to the level he is playing will probably need to get a preamp to boost the signal. There is no reverb built in. I have a sustain pedal and was wondering if this coupled with a delay (which I don't have) gets the full sound, when playing fast he seems to be playing over existing notes? but the pitch of his sound seems high too. maybe I just get an effects unit .
