Sat. July 30, 2005. The band was billed as DKT/MC5 for the 3 surviving members (Davis, Kramer, Thompson) and a revolving cast of singers and players (Gilby Clark, Marshal Crenshaw, many others), celebrating the music of the MC5. They did an extensive US/world tour in 04-05, and a few more dates in 06-08.
The night before this show, at a club in Brooklyn, they did a performance of the complete KOTJs LP song for song, then another hour long set .
Correct. You didn't SAY it was MC5. You WROTE that it is moron! "MC5 Live Central Park" indicates to the reasonable person that MC5 was playing in Central Park.
Hey, rob tyner was my neighbor when I was growing up in the 60's, in taylor Mich...the mc5 used to play in his yard at parties...rob tyner is dead and that was 3 serviving members in the video.
Great Raw Rock , MC5 was the Weather Under Ground Rock Band , Torch paced to Green Peace, saw MC5 with opening act Iggy Stooge and the Stooges , about 69 , Now Iggy Pop , killer concert at Place Of Our Own , Houston . Saw them again in Ann Arbor and a few other times , never once did they let us down . This cut of , please fix it , sounds like MC5 top me .
MC5 was the White Panther Party "house band". Their mangager, John Sinclair was the founder of the WPP. The Weather Underground was a differnet "radical" group.
Would have loved to seen them with the Stooges back in the day.
This is DKT/MC5 with living MC5 memmbers Davis,Kramer,Thompson (with help from Gilby clark [G&R], Manitoba [Dictators], Lisa Kekaula [Bellrays]and Mark Arm [Mudhoney]. This was in Central Park NY, NY. July 30 2005 Go to the DKT/MC5 website, check out the gig list.
KOTJ44 I got to say what you wrote makes sense I have become to sceptical you straightened me out I believe you got it all right I also can remember MC5 as the first album, aka Record 33 1/3, that came out with the words mother fucker on it ... then the record label censored MC5 albums to "mother truckers" it was all down hill after that
I was lucky enough to be at this show. Absolutely freakin' incredible. And the remaining members did it very wisely: rather than try to cash in on rehash, they call themselves a different name, DKT. And, knowing full well that no one person could ever replace Sonic Smith or Rob Tyner, they brought in a series of guest vocalists, all of whom are huge 'Five fans. If that's not a true testimonial to Tyner, I don't know what is.
Did you catch their show the night before at NorthSix? They did the complete Kick out the Jams LP then did another set. Incredible indeed! Lisa's version of 'Looking at You' was crazy good
WHEN U R READING THIS DONT STOP OR SOMETHING BAD WILL HAPPEN MY NAME IS SUMMER I AM 15 YEARS OLD i have BLONDE HAIR , SCARS no NOSE OR EARS I AM DEAD IF U DONT COPY THIS JUS LIKE FROM THE RING COPY N POST THIS ON 5 MORE SITES OR I WILL APPEAR ONE CREEPY NIGHT WEN UR NOT ExPECTING IT BY YOUR BED WITH A NIFE AND KILL U THIS IS NO JOKE SUMMET ING GOOD WILL HAPPEN TO U IF YOU POST THIS ON 5 MORE FLASH BOXES
Sure. Mark Arm is amazing. I was not familiar with him till I saw him with DKT/MC5 (6 times) including this show. The night before, they played at NorthSix and performed the complete Kick Out the Jams LP then did another set. Even had a horn section. They were ON FIRE!
Daaaaamn! Saw Mudhoney back in early 90's, back then they came over to Europe every year and kicked some serious ass!! Probably the only reason it sucks livin' in Europe is to miss out on a lot of cooool shows!!
Well, it's in fact the MC3 + 4,drummer Dennis Thompson, guitarplayer Wayne Kramer (on the left) and Michael Davis on bass.
Unfortunatly the two other original members, Fred "sonic" Smith (gtr) and Rob Tyner (voc) died.
The singer in blue is "handsome dick" manitoba from "the dictators" (mid 70's punkband), the female singer (in white) is Lisa Kekaula from a rock 'n' soul group called "the Bellrays".
DKT are the surviving 3 members of MC5 (Davis, Kramer, Thompson). They tour with a revolving cast. The singer in blue is Dick Manatoba (Dictators). The guy in red shirt is Mark Arm (Mudhoney). Guitar player behind Mark is Gilby Clarke (Guns and Roses). Lisa Kekaula (Bellrays) is on far left briefly. Others have included Evin Dando (Lemonheads), Marshall Crenshaw, Nick Royal (Helicopters)and a few I cant recall.
