Ugh!!! You can't divide by zero, dividing requires a quantifiable sum with which to divide the initial number by, so you can't do it. It isnt a matter of making it work or calculating it, for it cant be done.

Two divided by zero = two people split apart by nothing, that's what this song is about. Is that impossible, though? You decide.

I thought the song references dividing by zero to describe the likelihood (impossible/undefined) of the two people in the song actually accomplishing their plans of leaving the country and starting over in America? Your interpretation sounds good as well, I am just sharing my take on the lyrics.

Yeah, well that's kind of what I meant, I guess. It's about whether they will actually be able to run away to America or not and perhaps whether they will actually be able to stay together as well, although their whole plan is probably a fantasy and they're never really going to get anywhere. It's a clever concept that I really like.
