  • I did a scan and it said this: You do not need to defragment this volume.

am I good? FYI I am using xp

  • Defraggler is another freeware disk defragmenter that's faster and has more features than the default Windows defragmenter.

  • @paulph12002 is it free?

  • @Firefox7755 Yes, it is.

  • @paulph12002 Thank u

  • The built-in disk defragment takes so long, thats why i use Auslogics Disk Defrag :D

  • I cant find programs on my start menu for some reason any help

  • Diskeeper FTW :D

  • how often should i do this?

  • @buzzmeok if you have the time, a couple times a month. i only do mine once a month and its totally fine! just try to do it at least one time a month because if you dont do it too often, you will get immovable files, which can not be moved back to the beginning of the disk. (this is what defragging does)

  • @ipwnrubberduckiesftw ok thanks

  • MyDefrag is the best.

I noticed a performance increase on a fresh installation (after installing drivers, etc.)

  • Thankfully for me, Linux doesn't have this problem. Silly Microsoft.

  • thanks man

  • Ccleaner for the win

  • For defragmenting its best to use Auslogic Disk Defrag or Piriform Defraggler.

They are the best free Defragmenters out there !

  • DO NOT use Defrag on a SSD, it will slowly kill your SSD

  • thanks dud!!

  • any risks?

  • @bahrwiz no

  • auto-defrag programs are nice >_>

  • do u have any videos on how to speed up how i open applications when i open them they have a llong lag before they open

  • hey do you know how to fix a hard dribe using your computer?

  • defrag is so pointless and takes forever!

  • defraging is like this,

you have a deck of cards and you throw them all over the table, that takes up the whole table when you could have the same number of cards, stacked into a deck to take up less space.just imagine the table as the Hard drive and the cards as the files.:)

  • do you know how to do this on a laptop

  • 3rd party programs can often defrag a hdd faster and more efficiently i happen to use Auslogics disk defrag its free from their site

  • damn your hard drive is full and fragged.

  • @Dell0304 You have NO idea NO idea at all if you thing that is really really really fragmented , you don't know how fragmented my PC is, its like it was purposely done (i never ran the defragmenter thing much :P)

  • it takes a lot of time!!!!

  • @Xxx0zkrxxX hahaha ya it seriously does take a crap load of time!

  • Hey, do you know how to make a Windows XP look exactly like a Vista while being able to maintain how smoothly the computer runs?

  • LOL my drive has like 257 gb

  • Why does it take about 9 hours???? is it because i have 1TB space

  • Do you loose hard drive space doing this ?

  • absolutely not.

  • @EliteNinja96 no, you sometimes gain it.

  • is there a faster program out there to make defragmentation? coz i find the windows one way too slow. any help hello?

  • its probably cause you havent defraged it in a while

  • Its takes me 2 days even longer on a 230 gig harddrive.

  • @JamieMckinley

try having 1tb+ a 300 harddrive. God took so dam long.

  • @helldrag0n47

    300GB*

  • Ive got a 1-TB Harddrive I've just never done defrag on it

  • Get the software called mydefrag it runs way faster.

  • Dam i wonder how long it will take on my 500 GB? probably like 4 days!! (i doubt it)

  • Download 'PerfectDisk 10' Its the a defrag program, it tells you gow long it will take. its much better then the windows one

  • Thanks, I'm subscribing. :D

  • Macs Get slower that pcs get matained

  • Honussa, you have no idea how clueless you are

  • A regular mac user does not have to defragment his hard drive! I am not saying that a mac's hdd can't get fragmented, but what I meant to say is that it gets fragmented considerably less than a hdd in any windows system.

A regular windows user should defragment his hard drive the minute he bought a pc. (That's what I experienced on Dell and Acer laptops)

And if you call me clueless because I hate Steve Ballmer, well, the reason I hate him is personal!

  • the comment you wrote before hand was both childish and clueless. No "regular" windows users dont HAVE to defrag, hell its only if you want to get the most out of the HDD (gaming, video editing etc) that you should defrag it, and oh if your video editing (you can't play any good games on mac) on your mac, you should defrag it also. and btw, if your running vista on a low end system, yeah it does suck.

  • u got any tips 2 speed it up on vista it takes ages i never ever had time 3 complete one

  • what about files it says it can't defragment? what do I do about them?

  • Don't forget your virus software on your Windows. I don't have to use this kinda of malware called security software. Decent OS don't need security software.

  • Glad i don't have to use Windows OS on my computers. They are horrible. My computers are using free and open source software so i've spent hundreds of euros during the last two years.

Only fools are still using this Microsoft crap.

  • Obviously haven't used Win7 then.

  • too bad nowadays people are being injected with windows product.,

  • JkDefragGUI anyone? :P

  • iobit Have Very Good Tools. Safe, FREE of Crap & Trusted.

  • finally works

  • How do you get the boxs up for windows vista? i get Disk Defragmenter and analiz but that other boxs never comes up y?

  • I got Piriform Defraggler so I'm doing that now. Every time I start my computer, it always loads up whatever Microsoft is updating and sometimes the drive will take a while before it finished loading up everything from startup. Thanks!

  • is defraggler any better than the windows defrag?

  • ya but not good to it fucks up your pc cause you are greedy for performance for doing it to many times

  • nah i only do it like once every 2 months

  • LMAO i hate fragmenting now it barely helps the only thing that can really save me is system recovery. And i cant do that either cause the version on my disc is older then da version on my pc

  • Nice Tip But I Use Smart Defrag :)

  • Yeah. I use Defraggler, which is pretty good too.

  • if u have xp and ur too lazy to manually defrag... download tuneup utilities. really good program to drag and much more to speed up ur system

  • what does defrag mean?!

  • @xXsecretxXBW , it means Defragment, to reorganize the structure of data on your hard drive so it can be accessed quicker.

  • @PCWizKid will my games be deleted too lol???

  • @marfg12345 Defragmenting doesn't delete files it puts files back together how it should be so that it's all in once place.

  • @PCWizKid Does the windows classic theme in xp make it use less memory than thw standerd xp theme

  • @miniclip876 the theme has nothing to do with the computer's performance

  • where u get spore curors?

  • You can also use SmartDefrag tool , which is faster than integrated windows defrag tool

  • Windows will say 15% of space requires to defrag. But the rule of thumb is we need at least 50% and never go lower than that. Otherwise your HDD will not defragment big files.

  • on the vista version does it defrag in the background when it does it on the 'schedule' because i have never noticed it defragment but it says it has defragmented recently.

  • i only have 9% of free space available

and it says i need at least 15%

    what should i do?

  • dude u need another hard drive

  • do you have to do this Frequently or do you do it like monthly?

  • Monthly

  • i do it everyday i use smart defrag its fast and defrags it when your not using da computer so when you come back your hard drive is running fast & sweet performace

  • Lol I keep convincing my dad to defragment!!!!!!

  • will this give better performance to PC games like Sims?

  • @codalyokofan it gives a general boost in performance for everything loading a little bit faster.

  • Man... I need my dad to watch this video so my Sims 3 can look and work really good!

BTW- Do you play the Sims?

  • can i run defrag while my pc is on stanby?

  • YUP

  • Soes the defrag delete something?

  • No, what it does is re-organize the items on your hard disk so that the computer can find them faster.

  • disk defrag is so slow i never do it

  • I prefer the look of windows 95 Defrag

  • Manually run it like in xp? I guess scheduled tasks is useless then eh? I'm a noob and I know that you can schedule anything in xp.

  • Thanks very help full

  • Thaks

  • Take a look at Smart Defrag and Wise Registery Cleaner 4...Quicker and smarter

  • tnx

  • Auslogics Disk Defrag is WAY better than xp/vista defrag

  • WAY better? lol I just run it in cmd (ms-dos prompt) and it's pretty fast, and not everyone wants to install 100 different softwares for different things that windows can do

  • but that takes ages

  • try lowing the WoW graphic settings. That will speed the game up

  • Holy cow i did this and it wasnt finished after 2 hours,,,:S

  • it took for me about5-7hours^^

but u do notice the differenceXD

    pentium 4 ftw^^

  • Yeah,, I had it on the hwole day! (about 12 hours) and it wasnt finished..

    Dualcore:)

  • well it does depend on how many gigs it are^^

  • here is a tip, dont click Analize just click defragment. its quicker.

  • this isn't necessary if you have it scheduled for example i have my CPU scheduled to perform this every Wednesday at 1:00 A.M

  • What happens if you open a game, like Starcraft, Zoo Tycoon, etc. while defragmenting? Will it slow it down?

  • It depends on how much resources the game needs

  • This is my favorite of your videos.

  • These videos are very helpful. Some reminders of basic housekeeping plus some interesting new tweaks. Thanks very much. Keep 'em coming!

  • Diskeeper FTW !!!

  • Defrag only really works on older FAT32 Drives because it doesnt really affect NTSC very much so the extra performance will be low

  • What Kind Of Files Will This Delete ? Or Will It Delete Any Files At All ?

  • Mostly Temporary files. However if you delete the dllcache folder those files could be used by a program at the time, so you can back up the files in the dllcache area before you delete them.

  • no lol :P

  • its probably because you have a lot of files on your computer.

  • how long does this take, its been about 4 hours for me :P lol

  • you must habe been downloading alot of porn XD

  • lol

  • How does defrag work when you have 2 HDs in Raid-1?

  • Hey pcwizkid this tool for windows thats built in there is a better tool and does a way better tool i have it and you can tell the difference the tool i use is called defraggler it does a better job with defragging i recommend getting it i use it four times a week yes i know its a bit much but o well

  • i dont english but thanks that work very good for me

  • dood I knew about defrag when I was a fetus

  • lol, awesome, well thanks for watching anywayz.

  • Does this prevent lag?

  • It speeds up loading time a little, but not network lag. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

  • DUDE YOU LOGO ROCKS!

    SO DOES YOUR VIDEOS!

I'm subscribing to this right away!:D

  • by running defrag does it also make your pc able to locate files making pc run faster

because it knows were there all are?

    love you videos.

  • It does increase the seeking of the files, but not because it knows where they are, but because the files are organized together in a specific area.

  • This video is very useful,

    thanks..

  • PCWIZKID you forgot you should have 15% free space for you to defrag well :)

  • Great videos

    Subscribed :)

  • Wow, you drive is fragmented xD

  • thanks for your in depth tutorials

  • DUDE UR VIDEOS AR THE BEST MAN !

  • Thanks! I appreciate it!

  • You can use Disk defragment regually like Vista. You can set a schedule.

  • what does this do to ur computer

  • don't worry man, just put it faster!

  • Organizes files on your hard drive.

  • Thanks man

  • i use Auslogics Disk Defrag

on my xp pro. its free and fast

  • Im on vista premium and i cant see any option to "analyze"? ideas?

  • it does it automatically when you open the defragmentor, or if you have it schedualed.

  • i defrag all the time

  • for anyone who has had problems with service pack 3 do you happen to have an amd chip because that is know to cause problem i have an intel chip and no problems to date at all im happy so if you guys have amd chips thats your problem if you look on microsoft website it warns you

  • I have AMD chip

SP3 was no problem at all. Installed flawless

  • use smart defrag insted, its way better, you cn defrag so it optimizes the performance

  • this video is the best!!i wnt more!!

  • Hey man when i dragment my comp and after i cancelled it it show an error on my media center say your video card or drives are not campatible with media center you can whatch my vid to see the problem plz help me with this

  • think god i fix my computer.. i had service pack 3 but i took it off then every thing stop working..so i put service pack 3 back on!!! but its still not 100% right.. i have a vista CD but i am trying not to put it on..every body say its slow and other things bad!!! movie maker still dont work and media player too!!!lol

    how bad is vista???????????

  • so what do i do when i get that thing with the red bars?

  • Increase your RAM (buy more Physical Memory) and increase the page file size.

  • what can i do to my computer with out reinstall xp!!!!

  • Depends on how much you use your system. Once a month is fine.

  • i did but it said

mmc cannot open the file c:\windows\system32\dfrg.msc.

this may be because the file does not exist,is not an

mmc console,or was created by a later version of mmc.

this may because you do not have sufficient access

    rights to the file.

    help me!!!!!

  • Click Start, click Run, type %Windir%\Inf, and then click OK. Then find dfrg.inf and

Right-click on the dfrg.inf file, and then click Install.

  • i did not find it on my computer!!!! this suck!!!

  • you must have a basic installation of windows then.

  • a lot of thing is going wrong with my computer!!!

the security center stop working on my computer too a lot of thing stop working!!! dont know what to do!!!

i dont have a xp cd.. i have vista but i dont want to put it on my computer...

  • Go to services.msc in the run. Then a box will pop up. Scroll down to security center. Then right click on it and choose properties. There will be a little scroll box. Set it to automatic. Then hit apply. then click the start button in the same box.

  • You might have disabled the process from starting on startup. Click Start, click Run, type msgconfig, then go to "Services" and look for Security Center, if it's not there it may be in a different section.

  • If you cant find defrag on your computer then i would suggest for you to reinstall windows everyday, so your pc can work naturally...

  • my windows defrag don't work i cont open it up why!!!!!

  • Do you have XP? Try this, click Start > Run > type dfrg.msc and open that file to launch it.

  • diskeeper is the best defragger but it isn't user-friendly.

Auslogics is like the 2nd best but the regular windows defragger can get things done.

the most user-friendly would be Defraggler which is the same company as the famous CCleaner.

  • Do you triple boot Vista, Xp, and Ubuntu all on the same computer?

  • Windows defrag is little bit bad, instead of that Auslogics Disk Defrag is much better and free.

  • I have been using Auslogics Disk Defrag for over a year in Vista. It has reduced the time it takes for the Vista Defrag from 5 or 6 hours to 30 to 60 minutes when I use Auslogics Disk Defrag. Plus Auslogics Disk Defrag is visually better than the boring Vista version.

  • Windows Defrag isn't that good. Try using "SmartDefrag" it can defrag in half the time, you can auto-defrag and also optimize whilst defragging so. And it's free.

  • nice vid, i defrag my computer evrey 2 or 3 months xD

  • Diskeeper is best for that job

    windows defrag sucks pretty much

  • It sucks you can't see the defregmenting anymore in vista. That sucks.

  • WHy do you do so many videos that people already know. there mostly about apps already in windows.

  • great tip man keep up the good work !!!

  • Can you still move files around and stuff? And say play games

  • I dont have that.how can i get it.

  • Try this, click Start > Run > type dfrg.msc and open that file to launch it.

  • you have so many fragmented files XD

  • thats why I picked this example so you can see how much you need to defrag, and not to forget.
