  • I always do first research by Wikipedia, but I'll ask: "What year did T.O.W. become wireless?" I was in a TOW unit after I finished my cumpulsory 3 year draft in 1974 infantry & retrained for TOW 6 months later doing 36 full more months. Its a thin copper wire but I'll have to check new products?

  • Wireless Tow missiles? WAT?

  • Wait, wireless? Doesn't the W in TOW stand for wire-guided or wire something?

  • @stevewestingale TOW - Tube launched Optically tracked Wire commanded link guided missile ;-)

  • so the TOW doesnt actually hit the target but detonates near it?

  • rockets vs t-55!!! YEAH!! what next? F-18 vs Su-7?

  • @AllofStewie lol

  • @AllofStewie Actually, it's a T-62. But your point still stands.

  • if it has got no wire... then wouldnt it just be called a TO

  • I HAVE THAT MUCH PROOF IT ISNT FUNNY THE WORLD NEED TO SEE WHAT IM HEARING..

I HAVE MORE LIKE THIS..ALL THE FACES ON MY SIGHT ARE IN MY HOME PLUS IN MY VIDEOS....THE WORLD HAS TO NO ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPERENING TO ME IN MY HOME

  • @stanley03061973 proof that TOW Weapon Systems exits? We know this already.

  • @zeppelin67637 MATE I ME ET OR SPIRIT BEINGS I HEAR THE MUNGBEANS

  • @stanley03061973 me thinks you been smoking to many mungbeans

  • @stanley03061973 Me thinks you not looking properely what are all those on my home page butterflies there in my videos ..Hello

  • you stupid boy....NOT here at the museum! (

  • I was a TOW gunner in the mid 90's. I didn't think the US was still using these.

In the early 90's I was using the Dragon.

  • What tank is that?? Looks like a second world war tank.

  • @VictumRoManius

    T-62 made in 1961, M-48a3 contemporary.

  • @patrikasLTL Ah, ok thanks.

  • I need some miss'le TOW for Christmas to decorate.

  • I have one of those at home and i use my wireless modem to control it. It fires if the security system I've installed at home is triggered without being disabled within 15 seconds.

  • TO missile? :(

  • Tubelaunched

    Optically tracked

    Wire(less) guided

    ?

  • @JVC7400 No there is a wire in there, it cuts at the tube when, A) missile detonates B) Missile goes out of launch constraints or C) the gunner or pilot push the Wire Cut button.

  • @spartanHI But if there is a wire would it not then be normal TOW? or if it hits while the wire is cut off...then it is semi-wire-guided or what? :P

  • @JVC7400 the wire doesn't cut until impact, if the wire is manually cut then the missile will self destruct.

  • Poster, there is no such thing as a wireless TOW missile. That is what the "W" is for, WIRE GUIDED.

  • @Robbob9933 there is a version of the TOW that is wireless its called the ITOW, I know it dosnt sound right becuse the tow is tube launched, optically tracked, wireguided missile but there is an ITOW

  • @miaczynski ITOW stands for IMPROVED TOW. This has a probe that gives stand off trigger of warhead. There have been several attempts at creating a radio datalink version but these at best increase the cost per missle by 4 times and requires new command system costing several hundred thousand per unit. This version would not provide any benefit. You are talking to an 11H here.

  • @Robbob9933 A fellow 11H, I was with the 101st there was talk of an ITOW but Ive never seen one or met someone who fired one, did some research and I think they scraped the idea. Fired a TOW a few times but my favorite weapon is still the M2. Infantry Follow Me!

  • @miaczynski The ITOW is called the TOW2 now if I remember correctly. I went from non-grunt Marine to 11H Army NG and was sent to TOW school. Due to odd rules at the time, they had to either keep me a Sergeant and OJT me or send me to school and adjust rank to skill level. They were trying to take my Sergeant away but couldn't by law. Well graduated top of class and was retained for skill level evaluation.

  • @miaczynski I was checked out to skill level 4, the NG was forced to make me a SFC and make the the TOW platoon Sergeant. Went to summer camp and my paltoon got all the missiles :) My first year ended and they asked me not to return. I was on the "try one" program and NG was the one to choose to walk away. When Gulf War 1 came about the next summer they wanted to recall me but couldn't, I had already completed more than 6 years active service.

  • @Robbob9933 Two funny things happend shooting a TOW at a live fire range, the first one I fired shattered both sides of the windsheild in my humve from the backblast and the second time I fired it was at night and my target looked up at me, it was a deer! I was still able to steer the missle away from the dear and still hit the plywood tank though.

  • @miaczynski The first one sounds like a bad lot similar to the ones we gave to Iran, the sustainer motor kicked in too soon. Me, I got to shoot a real tank after the dragon boys had their go. One of these guys sneezed and all the dragon steering motors went off all at once brrrrrrrp leaving an uncontolled missile with a live warhead. Lucky it hit a tree. I went for the turret / hull junction and missed and went between 2 road wheels.

  • Top attack weapons against obsolete armor - that's just overkill.

  • they should equip recon marines and cavalry humvees wiht recoiless rifles too, because often TOW missiles are scarce and too far apart for anti-tank and assault artillery.

  • @noradnorthcom THAT WORKS KILLS ENEMY!MADE IN NORTH AMERICA!

  • @MattGodden123 Wouldn't surprise me. Why do you think the Commies beat the Nazis in WW2? For every 1 Tiger tank there were about 30 T-34s built. But I bet if the numbers were more even the Nazis would beat 'em since the Tiger was almost invincible at the time

  • @WonkyTonkBotty You got that wrong. It was 30 Bradley Tanks for every German tank. The Russians sent their tank production to the remote area of

  • @GeekBoy03 wtf are you talking about? the Bradley tank was introduced by the Americans in the mid 80's. know your facts, fucktard

  • @trueblue151 YOU JUST GOT YORUSELF FUCKING **PLONKED** FAGGOT ASSED COCK LICK

  • @GeekBoy03 No Bradley Tank.

  • @Robbob9933 Correct, because technically it's a Infantry Fighting Vehicle

  • @MattGodden123

no that's not true. The force ratio was this.

    T-80 < T-72 < T-55 is 1 < 3 < 8

    M1a1 < M-60 < M-48 1 < 1 < 2

It's worth noting that the T-72 and T-55 were superior to their counterparts.

  • @patrikasLTL T55s and T72s got their asses handed to them by their respective counterparts in the Sinai and Golon Heights. T72s were ate alive in Gulf War I.

  • @Robbob9933

In 1982, T-72s had their asses handed to them.....by TOWs. But no one is going to expect a T-72 to take an ATGM hit at the time and only two or three in one engagement actually suffered autoloader explosions.

  • @patrikasLTL Forgot to put the T72 eaters were M60s.

  • @Robbob9933

Sinai? Yeah, tank units that ran out of fuel from aerial bombardment in 67. Same for gulf war. Nevermind that they were operating foreign tanks, export model T-72, with an arms embargo in place and no spare parts. And 400 Egyptian tanks on search with no recon against 900 Israeli tanks waiting in ambushes in 73. Same for Golan, except that within 24 hours 90% of Israeli officers were casualties.

It's not like WW II where there's a big difference in tanks, soviet-NATO were much equal

  • @patrikasLTL For GW1 I was referring to the M60 (1 Marine Tank Batallion) to T72 match up at Kuwait International Airport, nose to nose at essentially point blank ranges. Info on this fight keeps getting removed. For Golon Heights, 2 mobility killed Centurians took out 48 T72s.

  • @Robbob9933

There were no T-72s in GolAn Heights... liar liar pants on fire

    watch?v=NFqal90zgGE

gets removed, yeah ok. well i have my links

    Soviet T-72 armor

    i4.photobucket(DOT)com/albums/y107/joselu/t72bcav2.jpg

    export T-72 armor

    onthewaymodels(DOT)com/articles/T-72ReviewA/t-72g.jpg

  • @patrikasLTL Not talking abouit getting removed from YouTube, I'm talking about getting removed from government sites. My guess is that the M60s with the reactive performed much better then the M1s. Second guess is that the Army's Tiger Brigade was held in reserve and was not sent to a tank heavy engagement. The lowest count I have seen is around 300, highest around 500. In the groud portion alone in the Marine area of operations over 1000 Iraqi tanks were taken out.

  • @patrikasLTL The T55s and T62s equals in generation of anything the Isrealis had.

  • @Robbob9933

sorry, youtube ads a tag for the links, so they dont work. google pic for this "72bcav2.jpg" and this "T-72ReviewA/t-72g.jpg"

  • Single town launcher & 1 round $180.000

T-55 tank for soviet planned economy $8.000

T-72 tank for soviet panned economy $50.000

  • @patrikasLTL The Chinese have duplicated the TOW 2, so some one finds it useful.

  • @patrikasLTL

You need to cost the ex-crew of the tank and lead time to manufacture a tank vs. the missile.

  • Most commenters understanding of how shaped charge rounds work is incorrect.

The penetration of tank hull is not by plasma or heat - but by hydrodynamic pressure.- much like a high pressure water jet. The inflow of armour particles and other material sets of secondary explosions within tank. Soviet tanks do not have ammunition protection (eg carousel at base) hence catastrophic results!

  • Wait wait wait...how is it called a TOW when its "wireless"...Tube Launched Optically Tracked "Wire Guided"

  • @harosokman

Basically because it's the same weapon system, Raytheon got a contract by the US army to develop a wireless variant, but it was canceled.

I know the acronym wouldn't make much sense with it but meh lol

  • Isn't a wireless TOW kind of ironic? hehe

  • fake its CG

  • yeah the title makes no sense, this wasn't a TOW, besides the fact that TOW's fucking suck (I used to work on them until they started getting replaced by HF) the TOW missile does not have a proximity fuse or air-burst option. the only two ways for a TOW to explode is either direct hit or if the missile flew out of the constraints of the launcher.

  • @spartanHI And why do the TOWs missiles suck? And what is that HF that u say started to replace the TOW? I never heard of that?

  • TOW missle "Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire data link, guided missile"

It is a wire guided missile.

  • @fang1998 There is also a wireless version, which allows the missile to have a longer range.

  • That would be cool without the hillbilly southern accent in the background.

  • a missle with a wire connected to the launch system is a tow launcher, so wireless tow launcher impossible, thats laser guided missles thats wireless, and goes where your aiming

  • "TOW" stands for "Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire data link, guided missile" so how is it Wireless?

  • @doodskie999 well fucking said my man, dumbasses these days just post shit without doing research on it. America ftw

  • The Marine Coprs hase adopted the SABER system now which is an upgrade of the TOW2 it now can lock onto multiple targets and uses a GPS satalite system called PADS

  • I was a TOW Missile Gunner.

I was also a Dragon Gunner in the 82nd Airborne.

There were many improvements made to the TOW over its lifespan and the capabilities, even today, are quite remarkable...and the missile goes a lot faster than 400 miles per hour ;)

  • dfgdf

  • The TOW's effect on modern armor is the same as on old armor: it destroys it. As far as hitting moving targets, it is very easy and can be accomplished from far beyond the range of any tank's weapons. The only way the target can escape is if it can maneuver into a concrete building or under (not just behind) natural cover or if the comman wires are broken...hard to do when you're trying to dodge a missile that moves at about 400 mph.

  • Not true. The TOW2B will defeat 36" of armor. TOW stands for Tube launched, Optically tracked, Wire guided missile.

  • As I know the TOW stands for Wire guided!

  • It moves like a ball struck by Juninho XD

  • these missiles are always tested on old Soviet tanks like the T-72 or T-64 and besides I have never seen evidence of such missiles against moving targets or for suepuesto, with some newer models like the T - 80 remodeled or the T-90

  • there is no large difrence in the armor bitween the t-72 and t-80

  • sure we do not know the exact details of the Russian combat elements on the one hand some things are known and others not. The Americans advertise their weapons with what you know most or all of their technology but this way is easier to sell to their countries allies and profit Economy, which Russia did not do so well

  • Agreed. Wherever those videos are, they haven't made it to Youtube yet.

Personally, I'd prefer that certain military testing documentation which has been released were still kept secret, but TOW's have been around for quite some time now. Most adversaries would already be familiar with its capabilities.

I'd like to see its effects on modern armor.

  • Damn that is one slow missile, its night when they fire it but its like noon when it hits

  • i guess if you consider 275 meters / second to be slow.

  • that the target is hit. ITAS stands for Improved Target Acquisition System, or improved tow. It incorporates a integrated day and night sight, where as the TOW has separate day and night sights.

The Javelin and Dragon are both fire and forget, they have cameras in the missile that allow it to stay on target.

and the TOW 2A has a two warheads, one for the upgraded armor, the second to destroy. the TOW 2B flies above the target and the warhead shots down, which is what happens in this video,

  • I am a Army Vet who is trained as a 27E land combat electronic missile systems repairer. I am trained to repair the TOW, TOW ITAS, Bradley TOW, Javelin, and Dragon firing systems. the TOW stands for Tubular launched, Optically tracked, Wire Guided. when the tow is launched a fishing line size wire uncoils from the rear of the missile, upto about 2,000 feet, you must track your target until it hits our until you run out of line. how ever the missile times your movements in tracking to insure

  • Well there has been developmental work to make a wireless version of TOW skinnyscout. As for why? As DesiArcy said, you can fire on the move. The missile can also fly faster as you don't have to worry about breaking wires. And be fired over and through tangled terrain where the concern is raised that the wire can snag on some terrain feature and break the link.

  • if it's a TOW than it would not be wireless

  • Exactly, the W in TOW stands for wired.

  • Hughes developed a TOW missile with a wireless data link in 1989, referred to as TOW-2N, but this weapon was not adopted for use by the US military

this tow 2b aero which a much advanced version.......idiot

  • whats the point of making the link system wireless? I would think that because it still has to be guided to the target optical why not stick with a wire based command link because it is cheaper and less complicated then a wireless link and is not effected by interference

    thoughts?

  • @nuty1234 The main reason is that a wireless guided missile can be fired while the vehicle is moving, whereas the existing wire-guided TOW requires the vehicle to come to a stop and remain stationary throughout the missile's flight in order to avoid breaking the guidance wires.

  • napalm ftw =)

  • the answer is simple man....build a tank with min 12" thick armour all round..and power it by a small nuclear propulsion drive....no infantry-fired missile will get through that

  • so wrong...

  • but what would happen if the nuclear drive had a melt down?

then you would have cernobil all over again

  • yeah, that was caused by a nuclear tank

    0/10

  • Nuclear Tank.... seems like science fiction to me.

  • Its very expensive, they will get a big bad bunker buster to kill expensive targets.

  • @RifledBarrel What do you intend to do when an EMP takes out the electronics preventing it from causing a meltdown? Or thermite, for that matter.

  • @RifledBarrel The concussion would suck!

  • @RifledBarrel

a bloke with a load a patience and a hand grenade might destroy it (:

  • @RifledBarrel Too bad it wouldn't be able to move by itself.

Nuclear power doesn't work that way. A nuclear battery wouldn't provide nearly enough power to move the thing, and a nuclear reactor wouldn't fit in a tank.

  • @panzerfaust777 Make a Gundam!

  • @RifledBarrel 12" thick armour, but somehow no infantry missile will get through that. Where did u get this from? The modern infantry fired missiles, like the TOW, the Kornet, the Metis M, can penetrate over 800mm of RHA behind ERA. How is yr 12" mm thick armor stand up to that, ha? & u want 2 put nuclear propulsion into something that gets shoot at with powerful missiles & other type of projectiles? You're joking, right?

  • @StiviGun1 Learn how to spell, and learn the difference between mm, and inches. You sound like a European sizzle chest.

  • @hemitime03 I know how 2 spell in English much better than many Americans that I talked 2, so shut yr fucking cake hole! & 12", u idiot, is 25cm, which is not a problem at 4 a missile that can penetrate over 1m of RHA, get it? & tell me again abt that nuclear powered tank... I really laughed at that one. U should hide that comment b4 anymore people will read it & b4 u will make a fool out of yr self even more...

  • @StiviGun1 You're a dumbass, i said nothing about a nuclear powered tank someone else suggested that. 12"mm is retarded note the inch designation after the 12 . You Rhodes Scholars never cease to amaze me. I'm beginning to think you're a french faggot.

  • @hemitime03 R u fucking retarded? What the fuck is "12"mm" u stupid fuck? I know perfectly well, u fucking little shit, the difference between the inches & mm. Much better than you do. So why don;t u go fuck yr self, you stupid bitch!?

  • @StiviGun1 Calm down stinkygun, or your mommy will take your gameboy away, and make you stay in your basement room til you can speak nicely. And no more Daisy Red Rider BB gun.

  • @hemitime03 In "basement"? I don't even have a basement & in my country this is not even practiced. That's probably what your mommy's doing to you. Does your daddy comes drunk at night in your room sometimes? Hahahaha! Now go do something more useful, like hanging yourself and stop bothering me.

  • @StiviGun1 Way to go stinkygun, you once again showed your illiteracy, " Does your daddy comes drunk at night in your room" Did your mommy have any kids that lived? Happy trails faggot.

  • @hemitime03 Hey, go fuck yr self! U don't even know how 2 ask for food in my language, so go screw your self with yr entire family, u pathetic yank prick!

  • @StiviGun1 Het stinkygun it's easy to talk shit when nobody, knows who you are. What pathetic third world shithole are you from? If i'm ever in your piss ant country i'll just wait for the UN relief trucks to roll by and then get some food, besides rice is pretty universal. I'm here in San Antonio, Texas if you ever want a vacation and need some southern hospitality. Make sure to boil your water before drinking.

  • @hemitime03 Yeah, you're from Texas... Yeah, I bet you're a fucking redneck, aren't you? Your comments show this too. Now go byte a chicken's head off, you pathetic redneck!

  • @StiviGun1 Come on stinkygun don't be so violent, i'm astounded. And yes i'm a proud redneck who is obviously better educated than you, it's bite not byte. If only the people on you tube could see a pic of your ignorant self. Typical 3rd world trash. You never did say what shithole you're from! scared huh? Anyway when the UN trucks roll through don't take the cigs because they're usually some faggot Euro smokes.

  • @hemitime03 I guess that 4 an idiot redneck as yr self, looking at my profile 2 see what nationality I ma, is a very hard thing to, isn't it? It takes more than just 2 neurons, I know, but u could still make an effort though... By the way, did u bit that chicken's head off like I told u to, u stupid redneck? & please take a fucking shower. Yr sweat is stinking up the whole place.

  • @StiviGun1 could the 2 of you idiots shut the fuck up and take your argument somewhere alse

  • @blacksoilder10 why don't u mind your own business? Nobody was talking to you?

  • @StiviGun1 well after watching the video i scrolled down into the comments section and saw you little argument taking up 2entire comment pages. so i had to go to the 3rd page to see peoples real response to the video

  • @blacksoilder10 Yeah well, it's the other guy's fault. He replied to me with very stupid comments, even though my comments were not addressed to him. I replied to some1 else, not to him. Not 2 mention that the idiot's reply had nothing to do with this vid. So why don't you bother him instead of me?

  • @StiviGun1 ok i diddnt know that

  • @blacksoilder10 's all right.

  • @StiviGun1 LMAO stividumbass. The only idiot here is you, we all know that.

  • @StiviGun1 Why would you ask for food in your country, you just steal it, like the filthy gypsy you are.

  • @StiviGun1 You don't even have houses in your country, you live in caves and shit in your hands.

  • @Jospehporta You know, your mother gave birth to a very stupid monkey... What retarded, ebola infested ape did she fuck with 9 months before she shit your nehind the fence, ha?

  • @StiviGun1 Funny considering you;re a gypsy monkey. Why do so many people on YT think you;re a complete idiot. Ah that's right because you are :) Even your insults are fucking stupid.

  • @Jospehporta Hmm... Look at your language. No wonder everybody calls you an idiot everywhere you try to post some comments.Really now, aren't you tired of being called stupid over and over again? Get a life, monkey.

  • @StiviGun1 OMG you're talking to yourself now. So not only are you stupid, you're bat shit crazy as well :)

  • @Jospehporta Is this supposed to be an insult...? Dumbass.

  • @StiviGun1 No mate a statement of fact. You're shit bat crazy. Now get back to your gypsy cave.

  • @Jospehporta A fact is that your're a social failure, a loser, who harasses people on internet. That's a fact. But what's the matter with you? You seem like you've gone weak... Is this all you can?

  • @StiviGun1 We already know that you're a "social failure" and "loser". You have some terrible grammar. It isn't my fault you're a thieving gypsy. You're funny but still a poor criminal.

  • @Jospehporta Well, the fact really is that you're a social failure and a social loser, that's why you harass people all over internet. This is actually a crime, stupid. But tell me, why is it that you only reply to me ONLY on this topic and not on others that I post comments on? What's the matter cunt?

  • @StiviGun1 Aww you've learnt some more English swear words. I've destroyed you on every video you've tried to argue with me. Its funny you run off all the time and then stalk me on other videos with the same tired insults.

Just look at all the people calling you a moron on your account :)

There is a reason why so many people call you stividumb and that you get warnings from YT.

  • @Jospehporta You got destroyed on every video you followed me, you idiot. That's why you follow me. Now, you posted your trolling shit on one of another videos that I've posted comments (3 months ago... really, you're a retard). Just stop your shit before everyone starts calling you an idiot on this video as well.

  • @StiviGun1 Yes I destroyed you and it wasn't just me. Even a gold fish has more intelligence than you. You are so fucking stupid.... probably your gypsy background and pathetic education.

  • @Jospehporta Yes, Yes, I destroyed you on every single topic you followed me on. Everybodu was calling you a moron and spamming your comments. In fact, you spam every page you post your stupidity on. You're so pathetic. Really, get a life loser and stop harassing me. Stupid cunt.

  • @StiviGun1 Funny that, considering that everyone calls you an idiot. Hell it was hilarious when you though America's GDP growth was 13%. You obviously don't know the first thing about economics.

Lets face it you're an idiot. You can't even come up with anything original.

  • @Jospehporta What's funny is how you struggle, like a pathetic little cunt that you are, to bash people on YT... That's funny. Your frustrations (because you're a pathetic helpless cunt that get gets spet on by everybody in real life) are just laughable. YOU, are a laughable and pathetic creature. Just like everybody was telling you on your personal page and that's why you deleted that option. You are just pathetic. really, go kill yourself.

  • @StiviGun1 Aww still regurgitating the same old shit. FUNNY.

  • @StiviGun1 Stop picking on Jospehporta you filthy gypsy! Get back in your cave!

  • @rltw04 Hmm... Interesting. You created another account... Damn, you're pathetic. Stop harassing me, bitch! Get lost, you pathetic obsessed cunt.

  • @StiviGun1 A new account? WTF are you talking about you Romanian gypsy scalawag!? That is the first message I ever sent to your smelly ass. Look at my account, its been active for years. You are a failure and I rule hard. Mmmmmm hard...

  • @Jospehporta Hahaha you just said you destroyed someone on youtube arguments. Damn you're tough! Who are you calling pathetic again?

  • @RifledBarrel JTF.org forum

  • @RifledBarrel it woud cost a 10000000000 $ and it wud be taken by an thrmite rocket + one tow o and that nuclear boooooooooooooom

  • @RifledBarrel good luck movin it anywhere..

  • @RifledBarrel Sorry to burst your bubble but the javelin can penetrate upwards of 23 inches of Armour, and the TOW shown in this video can get in the range of 31 inches.

  • @RifledBarrel

I'm not really sure that the answer to infantery anti-tank weapons is a nuclear engine.

  • @arasaka2020tm is the only thing powerul enough to powe someting covered with 12 foot of steel and uranium

  • @RifledBarrel Nope... but I'm pretty sure if a TOW hit it the crew would still be reduced to soup! Or any other modern missile/rocket for that matter. I guess you could make the crew out of armour plate! ;-)

  • looks like a T-62

  • It explodes at the top of the tank because that is typically where the armour is weakest. The shaped charge actually fires downwards into the tank's turret, penetrating the relatively weak armour there and causing damage to crew, systems, or ammunition.

  • thanks

  • Why does it explore above the tank?

  • @Nasty0suicide It explodes above the tank because the deck armor is thinner. Also, this version of TOW uses a pair of downward-firing Explosively Formed Penetrators (EFPs) instead of a single shaped-charge. EFP is related to a shaped-charge, but only insofar as it being a focused explosion. A shaped charge fires a high velocity, molten jet of metal into a target. EFP's turn a slug of metal into an elongated penetrator rod which as hardened by the time it reaches the target.

  • toe, three, for, fahv, six

  • lol i was laughing so hard the way he said it

  • The title is TOW missle system Wireless. How could TOW be wireless. If its wireless then why they call is TOW.

  • "Tube-launched Optically-tracked Wire-to-command-Link"

So in this case it means:

    "Tube-launched Optically-tracked Wireless-to-command-Link"

  • Thanks man. I didnt know that. Thanks for the info. Studid me. I should have thought that its "wireless" instead of "wire." Thanks again

  • @mjnaushad2000 well, that's simple. TOW could also mean "tube launched optically tracked wireless guided missile". Get it now?

  • That wireless cra isn't gonna go, especially after all the money poured into the M41 Saber. 0352 represent!

  • The saber has an upgrade kit waiting for the wireless missiles. They developed it all alongside the saber. Who are you with bro?

  • Is this Radio Command Guided?

If so, than it's a step backwards --- the reason wire-guided missiles came about in the first place was because Radio Command Guided missiles were useless in an EW battlefield (i.e., ALL post-1970 battlefields), and because radio wave echoes from terrain features and comms traffic all messed with the receivers.

  • Tow. Tube launced optically tracked wire command link guided missile. Thats what it said in the learning manual. a few years ago.

It can penetrate up to 90 cm of armour. Depends on what type of missile you are using. We used a tripod to fire it from, but it can also be fired from a car, tank or helicopter.

  • As said before

    Tube-launched Optically Tracked Wire-guided(Missile system)

  • its a top attack version, it uses a different kind of shaped charge to punch through a tanks thin top, so it probably couldnt penetrate cheaply upgraded T72Bs with era bricks on top but i sure raped that T62{?}

  • It also took 110,000 US troops to disloge 22,000 Japanese troups. Now imagine what that scales to for a nation of 72 million. Every US soldier, that is what it was going to take.

Consider that after TWO nuclear bombs on Japanese soil, that there was actual DEBATE about surrender.
