  • At my education we use Adobe Dreamweaver and I really like it, but why do you use just notepad?

  • @Royz5 Adobe Dreamweaver is not what you want to be using if you really want to learn about web design. No feeling of accomplishment. I mean come on, learn to use things like CSS, jQuery, PHP and AJAX!

  • @Royz5 because Not every one can afford Adobe Dream Weaver, and do it is better to show people how to make it in a simple editor like notepad, people can download free software like notepadd ++ or context etc...

  • I think he does. Just go to his channel and search "CSS".

  • Excellent video and Tutorial .Great A+++

  • HTML Rulez d00d!

  • Thank you so much! This is easy to follow, easy to understand. It certainly de-mystifies HTML for me and makes changing my website a tad bit less scary! Great tutorial.

  • Great tutorial :) Guys check out my channel to follow me and learn html and css with me as I learn! ;)

  • Excellent video and hope you continue producing easy to follow tutorials

  • Why does it even mention XHTML in the title of this tutorial?

All your tags are in uppercase which is not allowed in XHTML. You also don't end all your tags off which is also required by XHTML.

align="center" is depreciated which is W3C's way of saying don't use it.

In your DTD you have HXTML where you need XHTML.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm having a go, its really good that you decided to make a tutorial. I just think its a bit misleading for people trying to learn XHTML.

  • @GamingJediPwns not to mention the browser doesn't support XHTML. That "HXTML" shouldn't matter since the browser couldn't care less about the value of the FPI. What's worse is he missed a quote on the XML prolog that's probably throwing him (and at least all IE6) into quirks mode.

Anyway for anybody new I'd suggest not watching this video. Lots of bad information here.

  • shoot that fucking bird!

  • @andrei3600 the bird is the word ...

  • This is an awesome tutorial thanks alot now i know how to edit websites and stuff hope you make more tutorials

  • This is a great, straight forward tutorial! Thanks so much for the upload. I can't wait to learn more from you.

  • This is a great, straight forward tutorial! Thanks so much for the upload. I can't wait to learn more from you.

  • superb!

  • Good Video. Guys It is very helpful to use notepad++ instead of notepad. It color codes all tags and such, makes a document much more readable.

  • nice video, the best

  • hey guys watch my tutorials on how to make a website /watch?v=cCJHPobmjMg

  • It's br /, not /br. And by the way, you didn't close your body tag right. Also, you left out a quote before the version for the xml header, which isn't actually necessary in an XHTML document.

  • Thanks for the tutorial!

  • AWESOME!!! I learned a lot. The bird was cool, I wasn't letting anything distract me from getting this info.

  • I hope you zoom in for your other tutorials. It's really hard to see in the window if you don't zoom.

  • And it's not /br it's br /

  • the b tag is depreciated... use strong instead if you're not using CSS. It's best to use CSS though.

  • Omg, that bird is driving me mad. Another 25 minutes to go.....

  • very cool - thank you!

  • awesome tutorial! thanks for this!

  • I am just wondering why people that do these tutorials(with the acceptance of bucky)use regular notepad... If I was to make a tutorial I would recommend using notepad++... Just some advice. I am not trying to be rude or anything. Just some constructive criticism.

  • this tunorial give me a lot of knowledges. thanks!!

but i have a big problem when it comes to adding image as a background! eventhough i saved the image i wanted to be my background in the same folder as my webe, i still have problem. if any body have any idea, can you please replay for my comment?

    Thanks

  • Love your tutorials. Thank you! Its so good that I couldnt even hear the bird. =)

  • I didn't understand the bit where he did - blockquote

Lines of text seemed to magically appear.

Didn't happen when I tried it.

    Did i miss something?

  • In the save as menu it ask me what type of encoding and i put it as UTF-8. Do I still need to include UTF-8 in my encoding in the notepad.

  • @peacemaker100111 I'm no expert but I'd hazzard a YES at that question. Reason being that the parser which reads the html file will not know otherwise.

  • Is that a tropical bird in the background?

  • great tutorial, really helps. One of the better tutorials on youtube.

  • thanks a lot you did a vreally good job on explaining this

  • I am currently taking E-Commerce 1 (somewhat advanced html code), and I SUPPORT this tutorial. He uses the correct termonology (no underline because they can be mistaken for links) or (how to make lines). If you need help, just pm me, I know a LOT about HTML or XHTML code :D

  • why use Notepad, y not Microsoft word?

  • @RainNight Notepad and Notepad++ was meant for HTML code. Although you are able to use Microsoft Word, you are limited because of Word's auto-spell check...

    Hope this helps :D

  • Brilliant tutorial. But I hate your bird...

  • What can we use blackquote for?

  • this video is helpful, made it much simpler to understand the basics, especially wen others say its impossible to understand. thanx a bunch, keep on with the tutorials especially for those who cant afford to go back to school like me.

  • THANKS SO MUCH! Very helpful!

  • Thanks man, it really help me.

  • Five stars for explaining.

    That bird is extremely annoying!!!!!

  • jajaj yep the bird is annoying!!1

  • @outerpol that is rude , what do you have against birds?

  • Nokia, thank you for your response. It turned out that nothing was wrong with my code. I downloaded Notepad++ (google it for a free download) which allows you to save your Notepad files as .htm files and now it works fine. Best regards!

  • Thanks Robert. When I try opening my notepad files in IE all I see is the code. Do I need my own server for it open like a web page?

  • @nirvesh7 no, you don't. need a server. just make sure everything in the code is right

  • your great
