The new dragon is looking great. They should make something like that for WDW. I just wish that the dragon didn't keep breaking so much for the couple of months.

The new dragon is more like the dragon that was showed in the original Fantasmia adventisment. Too bad that it took many years to get rid of the head on a stick dragon. The new large animotronic dragon has both Bucky and the WDW dragon beaten.

I'll tell you the diffrence. The old dragon was a head on a stick. The pole part was covered with those long strands of paper stuff (I don't know what its called though.). It also had to be hid by mist. The newer dragon has an actual body that weighs even more than the original dragon. Also, the new dragon isn't covered by mist.

I bet that Walt would of loved the new dragon. It is better than the old DL dragon and the WDW dragon.

As somebody already explained, the old dragon was just a goofy-looking dragon head on the end of a crane with several ribbons running down it's "neck" and curtains in the back shaped like wings.

When Fantasmic first came out, ppl gasped when Maleficent became a dragon, (old dragon head on-a-stick back then) I'll bet they're cheering now!

As a kid, the thought of a Disney Villain actually "breaking through" into the human world was very real to me, and to see that happen with Maleficent, and then have Mickey come and save the day, had an amazing impact on my childhood.

As to the whole "naming the dragon debate". You can name her what you want, but her name is MALEFICENT! Even Disney calls the dragon by her proper name. Murphy, Gertrude, and what ever other stupid names you guys come up are a waste of time.

Disneyland had Maleficent from the begging too (even before WDW did). But Disneyland wanted to replace the old dragon with a new one (this one) unfortunately, it broke...so people waited 2-3 moths for the new dragon. AND FINALLY IT CAME!

Finally Maleficent is in Fantasmic!. I went to Disneyland in June and July of this year and didn't see Maleficent. This version of Maleficent is way better than the original one. I can't wait to see Fantasmic! along with the new and improved Maleficent when I go back to Disneyland.
