the tank is too small for sub-adult require a large enclosure for cool side and basking spot. and lots of wood branches for exercises. decoration is not required so much, you only need to pay attention to the lizards health. if you wanna treat your lizards that way then buy a rubber action figure lizards for display without killing a live one.
stop saying the tank is too small because it's not, unless the dragon is not a baby it's a good size tank. babys will need a bigger tank within six months. just buy the bearded dragon care book from pet-co for 10$ save you a lot of trouble =)
Bad idea to put sand down if this tank is for a baby (which I'm hoping it is, given the tank's size).. they can easily ingest it which can cause impacts and kill them.
Maybe someone who actually knows what they are talking about should be doing these "expertvillage" videos. These beardie ones are ALMOST as shameful as the horse ones.
The substrate is perfect if you don't mind your beardies ingesting it and dying, or going through costly surgeries to remove the impaction or prolapse that would occur from straining so much. Non-adhesive shelf liner or slate tile is the best substrate for any bearded dragon. Paper towels(without perfume and dyes) are perfect for babies. Anything Non-particulate is better than sand..
ANYTHING sanitized with bleach needs to be THOROUGHLY rinsed, as it will give off dangerous fumes.
@evDivia -_- MANY experts (Not this idiot in the video) use loose substrate when the beardies get older. It works fine for them. But also most don't reccomend calcium sand. I have a bearded dragon care book, and I quote "Many hobbyists do not like loose substrate for it may cause impactions" and "In our 40+ years we have never had that problem with our beardeds." So, I think i'm getting sand now when they get older.
I have three bearded dragons. One is 13 months old, one is 4 months old and the other is approximately 3 weeks old(rescue). My 4 month old was in a tank this size when we first got her, at 3 months she outgrew it and is now in a tank that is 40x18x18. My 3 week old is in that tank now, and by the time he is a month old he will also be in a bigger tank. Why? Because they are terrestrial animals and need room to move about on the ground.
What the hell is expertvillage and why do they have so many people who don't know what they are talking about? Seriously taking advantage of new reptile owners who don't know any better and causing lots of health issues for their pets.
@bdonbeardies It's not a small terrarium if the lizard is still a "baby" lizard.
So if a first-time-owner has a terrarium like this already, he shouldn't buy a new one just yet, but if he's going to buy a new one, then sure it's more worth it to spend only once on a terrarium, and buy a much bigger one (at least 1.5 times bigger one).
wow good job with the sand if ur goin with a small tank im guessing its a small beardie and if u use any kind of sand if he eats it he will get compaction !!!!!!!
wow good job your not meant to use sand... when they eat there is a chance they swallow some sand with it even if it's calci-sand it can build up into a ball and kill them... good job....
this is animal cruelty!

Crappy advice. On a positive note though, I like the little skull decoration she puts in there.. nice touch to a desert theme.
