Pay attention at 4.38 on. That's the BEST EVER bit of slide soloing, and I'm a gnarly cynical heard-it-all old geetar player of 40+ years; literally took my breath away.
don't even come close to the original A brothers band. Those two guitar players make noise compared to duane and dickey. And without Duane Allman(and Bobby Whitlock) there would have been no Layla or Derek and Dominos period. A great loss that Duane died so young. I thought C should have let Greg Allman sing a solo. thumbs down.
@emotionalinvalid You CANNOT call this a bad lineup. Obviously, its sad that there is no Berry Oakley, no Dickey Betts, or no Duane Allman, but Trucks and Haynes are probably the best guitar duo at this time. Plus, they're both extremely talented, just listen to Dreams at the Beacon from 2003, or Black Hearted Woman (same venue/year). I know you might not think of this as much coming from a 14 year old, but i just thought i should voice my opinion.
Good song and a solid performance. Too many people state personal opinion as musical fact. None these 3 guitarists ever did much amazing in my opinion. EC was the most on point. But I still enjoy the performance.
What's with all the "Clapton's tone sucks" comments???!!!??? He's playing a Strat through a Fender tube amp...WTF is he supposed to sound like??? Warren Haynes has a Les Paul with humbucker pickups, Derek Trucks has an SG with humbuckers as well....this is a good illustration of the tonal differences between these great instruments in the hands of the greatest players!!!! FWIW, I think Derek Trucks is the baddest cat in the world, but Clapton wrote the book on hot electric blues!!!
EBAY ,YOU IDIOT ,THAT FAT GUY IS WARREN HAYNES AND THERE ARE 3 HALL OF FAMERS UP THERE...PLEASE REFRAIN IF YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU ARE TALKIN` ABOUT !!!!!!
Hey Samuel, shut it! Claptons tone sucks...pathetic. The fat guy was ok until Derek stepped up and showed everybody...great playing. Greg Almond sang great. If any of you disagree you should shut your faces...got it!
Reading some of the comments on here blows me off my comfy chair. It's Music people....and some of the greatest musicians on here. Just enjoy it for what it is...if you can't? Don't listen and just go away.
It never ceases to amaze me, why so many people see guitar playing in duel-like terms. "So and so was better than X", "EC owns X". What nonsense! I reckon comments like these must all be written by immature 12 year-olds. Music is not a fight, a stage is not a battlefield. Come off it! And also that trash about not liking Les Pauls or Strats being rubbish. That can only come from someone who does not love the instrument. With guitars virtue is found in variety. End of lesson.
@MrPieterWittenberg Who gives a fuck if Y is better than X; playing together is what makes the music sound beautifuly! Just think about how bad the song would be if Y played by his own, or if each one played exactly the same! What's the fucking point? That's why we call it BAND. It's team work, it's doesn't matter who is who! It's simple like that, and it isn't necessary to be a genius realizing that! Cheers from Brazil!
true. But these guys are better than a guitarist who played just two years. If that guy would join this band with the same imput as Clapton or Trucks, the song would probably suck.
@Samueltrad +1...all of these guys are freaking amazing, and we are blessed to be able to hear them pretty much any time we choose through this medium. Great song played by phenomenal musicians. Thanks for sharing!!!
@Samueltrad I agree with you 100%, also I don`t like the word `Covers` as I believe that each musician puts something of himself into every song, so as far as I am concerned it is a new song !, just played by someone different.
@SCUFFY7 hahahahahahahaha. Moron. You must be one of the most idiotic pukes ever. Whatever guitar he happens to be playing sounds as sweet and tasty as anyone who ever picked any guitar up. (happens to be a strat primarily for the last 20 years or so). Why don't you post some of your stuff since you're so good?
You have to understand; this is a live performance. Maybe EC's git-fiddle wasn't exactly like he told his tech to set it up. I've never been that impressed with Haynes, but there is not doubt Trucks is a keeper of the flame. He is solid and consistent. And what's this crap about stealing Allmans licks? There's no such thing as an un-inspired lick. As for Mr Clapton..... He is tonically perfect. He is technically perfect. How in the Hell did an Englishman get such a gift? Perfection
derek is so close to dwayne,s sound , it always great to hear him, haynes can hang with anyone too, eric,s alqays been my favorite, wish dwayne was still with us, he was awesome.
It's an EC signature Strat with active pickups and built in boost. Really horrible sounding distortion. Lets face it, the early days with the LesPauls and vintage Strats were the best. Ive played his 58 LesPaul w demarzios and that actually sounded like shit too, must be in the hands?
His tone is horrid, active pickups, his ears must be shot if he cant hear how horrible his tone is which is ashame because he can actually still play half way decent. This is like watching Michael Jordan play basketball at 85? Derek trucks, whats with the distortion, sounds like shit. Way over plays Duane licks. If you're going to steal the guys licks at least do them right.
There is no pedal that is the sound of either an early Bassman or reissue turned up. Claton has usede many tones almost always straight into an amp. His early Les paul into a Marshall combo, the Cream Gibsons through a stack,Blindfaith with his bastard Tele through a Marshall. His clean period with a strat into a musicman, then the late '80 Soldano's and different ampsstrats over the last 15 years. . Every amp builder would like Eric to play through their amp and would give them to him free
@HonestBlues - i can think of a dozen others who have left us who I would love to see performing now. i guess in some ways, now that they are gone, it makes them even greater.
@stratphil I agree with you on the dirt on Clapton's tone. I've never really been a fan of his Strat tone. It's too fuzzy for me. I don't know what OD pedal he uses.
Clapton should join this band.......What a dream!

Derek Trucks stands out in this excellent performance of a classic blues. They are all splendid.
