Don't listen to them, Ark Model really enjoys selling their over priced products. It is possible to convert a display kit to a static diving submarine but not recommended for beginners to the hobby. I would suggest making a surface running sub or buying an inexpensive kit (with WTC and instructions) for your first sub.
