I really don't know why when somebody asks the 'are you mixed' question people start crowing about ignorance, etc... genes are a funny thing & manifest themselves in different ways in EVERY body. Quite frankly we're *all* mixed [I suppose that levels the playing field] but the question is-- and one we'll probably never figure out unless we run our own genome lab-- to what degree? We need moisture to maintain growth. Period. Some hair has it built in, some hair needs a good dousing... hey...

@gigimc i understand what you're saying and somewhat agree but people accuse people of being ignorant for asking "are you mixed?" because they assume (most times correctly) that they're asking because of the fact that their hair is nice looking / straight / not the typical texture of hair that they see from black women as far as hair..

it's not like"You're stupid!" but it is IGNORANT (which isn't necessarily a bad thing or anyones fault) to think that blacks can't have that hair; they dont know

@angelslight7 Yea...honestly I enjoy seeing women walking around with their full thick natural hair more than the plain straight looking hair...I have no bias against straight hair, especially if one's hair is naturally like that...but we shouldn't make fun of our hair because it makes us stand out and unique. I always compliment women with natural hair. It really is an accessory within itself because it makes you stand out.

Its just too much more maintenance when I keep it natural. But I do wear it natural during the summer time. It tangles too much, and I end up pulling out a bunch of hair when I detangle it.
