This is the weapon I carry here in Korea, its awesome. When we go to the ranges I intentionally put my self in the last person to fire's spot. I get all the leftover belts that no one used when qualifying!

Would rather have the M240b. Wouldn't want to pay to feed either one though. It's too easy to burn through 1000 round's with one in a matter of minutes with controlled bursts.

I carried that thing too and it was garbage...too bad you can't shoot the M240....it's a dream!...rarely jams and it's a 7.62x51..very accurate...but also expensive...=|

But the 240 is a much better weapon system IMHO

There is a list of hoops you have to jump through, and tons of money to pay out, and you can "own" one(or many NFA arms.)

Fair warning: the BATFE is under the stringent believe that they own any and all NFA arms. AND once you start messing around with acquiring anything you need to get the BATFE involve with, YOU will be watched by them and will NEVER be able to get them out of your life. Even if you no longer have NFA Weps. They are a F'k'n annoyance.... or so I have heard. ^_^

There is in fact a difference between 5.56 and .223.

5.56 is more powerful.

7.62 can't hit $h1T on full auto.

Bigger isn't always better.

7.62 might go through concrete but .223 will fragment and turn to shrapnel AS ITS GOING THROUGH YOU.

I'm a SAW gunner in my unit and have gone through a full day of firing in a course. It's the Singapore model though. I have to say the SAW is a much nicer weapon than the M16. It actually has less moving parts, easier to clean and strip. I had the marksman score but too bad they didn't have marksman awards for SAWs.

recoil on a SAW isn't too bad. it's kinda like a slight drive back, while the barrel sort of makes a nice little circle shape. it's alot easier than people expect it to be

You can if you are over 21 and have a clean criminal back ground and are legal citizen of the USA, You have to pay for a $200 tax stamp through the ATF and go through a class 3 dealer for the transfer. Google NFA. You also have to pass the back ground check and fill out a lot of paper work. It is also very expensive. You can also use NFA and the tax stamp for supressors, short barreled rifles and shot guns, pen guns, and destructive devices(bore over half inch not made for hunting).

I carried one of these for 4 years as amarine and took it to iraq . But I swear to god after about 400rds you'v got to lube it or it start's to jam an insane amount ! The saw also hates the desert . It james every chance it get's even when you baby it . The ones in privet ownership fire the best becouse they hardly ever get used !

I lugged that thing around all day everyday for 9 months in afghanistan. I had 2 weeks of R&R time. That was the only time I wasn't carrying my SAW.

When I got back home I looked like one of those crabs with one claw bigger then the other. My right arm was so thick and veiny from constantly holding that weapon.

Oh and for the record, they suck in the desert. OH JESUS IT'S A TINY PIECE OF SAND IN CHAMBER JAM JAM JAM ::execute misfire procedures!!:: JAM JAM JAM

either u used the word "exactly" accidentally or u don't know what u're talking about. - While the external cartridge dimensions are essentially the same, the .223 Remington is built to SAAMI specs, rated to 50,000 CUP max pressure, and normally has a shorter throat. The 5.56x45 is built to NATO specs, rated to 60,000 CUP max pressure, and has a longer throat, optimized to shoot long bullets.

Don't fuck with a SAW. One day they will be 33% smaller and lighter. Then every armed force in the world will be using them as a primary weapon. Think about it. That hitting power mixed with that rate of fire? SAWs are the best personal weapon ever. Once they are mixed with ultra-light polymers and case-less ammo there will be no reason not to use one.

No the M-60 was replaced by the FN M-240. The M-240 is a slightly updated version of the FN Mag-58. The only real difference is the gas regulator is refined.The M-240 fires 7.62x51 NATO with the same links as the M-60.
