Sounds a little "tingy" for Borla, doesn't it? I usually prefer their sound over everybody else, like in my WRX, but this doesn't do it for me. It's not as "muscly" as it usually is.
That "rasp" is usually caused by using large diameter pipe, equal diameter mufflers close to the engine and a long section of even larger pipe after the mufflers. This is what makes Ferarri's, Lambos, Porches and Z06/Zr1 Corvettes sound so badass. The small diameter pipe with a big buffler at the very end gives the "ricer" or "fartcan muffler" sound like you expect someone's lowered Civic to have. It's just personal preference. I personally love it.
I've had Borla exhaust on a supercharged '98 Mustang Cobra and an '06 Corvette and loved the sound. Has some drone because of that setup, but I'm willing to tolerate it becasue of how musical the engine sound is.
Now I'm waiting for the Borla for my new 370z. It's supposed to be avaialable the week of 5/11/09.
Actually the exhaust is pretty raspy, I have it on my G37. I had 2 resonators welded in and it fixed the rasp problem. I'm working on getting a custom set of "resonated" high flow cats.
How can you make such a claim when it is still in development? Really would love to hear the system on a proper recording device. Can't Borla swing for a decent camcorder?
The rasp is from overloading the microphone. It's not a good recording at all. The Borla for the 350z won numerous dyno shootouts from what I remember.
Correct! A simple built-in microphone on Sony digital camera (video-mode); not ideal but we wanted to provide an update for the 370Z community. Thanks for your comments!
This should prove interesting as Borla does not seem to do well with imports. Their Web site has not changed for years, and still they rely heavily on their email-a-question versus refining their site.

Not really. Pricing out a GT Premium with a good package for comparable comfort and performance, you're looking at about $35,000 for either vehicle.
Right now I'm actually debating between both, and priced out equally I'm honestly thinking the Z is the more attractive option.

Sounds a little "tingy" for Borla, doesn't it? I usually prefer their sound over everybody else, like in my WRX, but this doesn't do it for me. It's not as "muscly" as it usually is.

That "rasp" is usually caused by using large diameter pipe, equal diameter mufflers close to the engine and a long section of even larger pipe after the mufflers. This is what makes Ferarri's, Lambos, Porches and Z06/Zr1 Corvettes sound so badass. The small diameter pipe with a big buffler at the very end gives the "ricer" or "fartcan muffler" sound like you expect someone's lowered Civic to have. It's just personal preference. I personally love it.

I've had Borla exhaust on a supercharged '98 Mustang Cobra and an '06 Corvette and loved the sound. Has some drone because of that setup, but I'm willing to tolerate it becasue of how musical the engine sound is.
Now I'm waiting for the Borla for my new 370z. It's supposed to be avaialable the week of 5/11/09.

Actually the exhaust is pretty raspy, I have it on my G37. I had 2 resonators welded in and it fixed the rasp problem. I'm working on getting a custom set of "resonated" high flow cats.

The rasp is from overloading the microphone. It's not a good recording at all. The Borla for the 350z won numerous dyno shootouts from what I remember.

This should prove interesting as Borla does not seem to do well with imports. Their Web site has not changed for years, and still they rely heavily on their email-a-question versus refining their site.

@u155282 u cant expect a v6 to sound good. the only 6 cylinders that sound any good is made by porsche, but they're not v6, they're a flat 6 which is a huge difference
