I remember when this came out back in the 90's. This choir did a fantastic job. Tramaine, love you. That beautiful piercing voice. Grew up listening to it!!!
Everybody on that stage deserves acknowledgment! I never thought I'd hear Tremaine sing this song live, mainly due to the difficulty. Thanks for posting!
Sound problems or not, didn't this choir delight Ms Hawkins!! It's almost as she didn't expect you so have it down pat!! You even get her showing her moves at 1.45-1.55 :) just gorgeous! The band too!! I'm just totally jealous you guys got to do this!! Stunning :)
This song was rearranged so beautifully, still reminiscient of the orginator Handel with those intricate mellismas the choir is doing on purify ii i i i ii i ii. Not easy but beautiful, and you know we gone take it too church on high. LOve it!!!
Tramaine Hawkins is brilliant! However, having sung this song, the rest of the choir needs equal acknowledgement. This is a PROFOUNDLY complex song! This is NOT easy to learn. So, honor to the rest of the singers. GREAT song by all.
@terrorist772, Wow! If you're a true bass and you can handle this song's tenor line (without falceto), then you're range is unreal! The soprano ladies I sang with were pulling out there hair for the first night we practiced.
These people can sing, I can't stop listening to this glorious music. God Bless these wonderful singers. I'm beginning to imagine what the Heavenly Choir is going to sound like. God's chosen people must go through the purification process, We Shall Come Forth As Pure GOLD! GLory To GOD!
This arrangement is the way it should be sung. Perfect arrangement sang by people who are going through the great tribulation process. We shall be purfied, and we shall come forth as pure Gold. Let the Evil, wicked and foolish speakers continue on with their ways. God's people will Come Forth As Pure GOLD! The best arrangement I've ever heard, these singers expressed the suffering and the tribulation that results through purification. I feel the anointing of God all through my body.
jppuertorico85 you really should shut the hell up, you only show how ignorant you are when you make such statements. I like Handel as well I also like Mozart and the other masters, but music is free to be interpreted as the artist or musician sees fit. As for this interpretation Quincy Jones is a virtuoso and a master in his field and Im sure he knew what he was doing when he decided to tackle this project... idiot
Thank you for your comments, some folks cannot accept something different and feel that there way is the only way and their opinion is THE opinion. This whole CD is nice. You have a Merry Christmas.
this is bastardization of Handel's masterpiece...I'm sure everytime this "arrangement" of this song is performed Handel turns over in his grave!!! Handel is a master and Messiah is a masterpiece for a reason- because it is perfect as it is. This hurts my ears...I went to college for Music so I'm a purist.
You know that this was rearranged by Quincy Jones and Mark Kimble from take 6 who has Doctrine in Classical music. In it true form it's real nice but this mishmash of a choir has butchered it. More over i think that G.F. Handel would love it, for his time his music was very cutting edge he love new sounds.
I went to college for music too and you're just close minded! Both versions are inspired by the word of God. Therefore, everyone and anyone from different cultures can and may express the Word of God in their own way. Get it??
i didn't say that... what we are trying to say is that he would have loved this version as quebaul said because we believe handel was an artist. moreover, there's no law in music that you cannot do embellishments as this
That light skinned sista is my cuzzo. Pierre are you still singing tenor? We sang this at Bakersfield Southside SDA back in the day. I see you still remember your part mami. Much love baby girl......
Tramaine did have fun with it - she praised God with it and still effortlessly managed to soar high above the idiocy of having the mikes mucked up and still took the roof off - what an anointed professional she never showed any discomfort or irritation. a lot of these today's divas would have cussed right there in church, threw the damned mike down and walked directly off the platform. Tramaine is a real lady wow and yes! great observation crazyzack32!
That is a hard song to sing and play the music is so complex but they pulled it off with soaring excellence......:)

@ShoutHard Actually, this song as easy to learn as any other song. We're doing it for my vocal jazz class. Super easy.

@terrorist772, what part are you singing? I think the soprano part is particularly more difficult--timing issues.

@ShoutHard I'm singing the tenor part. (even though I'm a serious bass)

@ShoutHard Oh god no. I can't hit all of the notes without falceto, but i get pretty close. And I think this song is really fun.

i'm sorry to say that you are just a plain musician and not an artist... only artists can understand this version.
