  • Pineapple's are very good to eat. I love tropical fruits!!

  • how do you core a pineapple without cuttingit in half to make the slices look like Os?

  • @kawaiipapillon There are special coring tools you can buy, or you cut off the skin and then cut out the core as a whole with the knife, then slice into rings.

  • pause 0.00 :D

  • In Chinese after we slice pineapple we dipped them in salt water for a min or so to wash off the slim and it also trick you tounge to make taste it sweeter

  • @mncx Interesting tip. Thanks for sharing!

  • Pineapple CORE is super healthy as it contains all the BROMELAIN enzymes. Eat the CORE as well, or blend them into your smoothie :)

  • @tanpm0620 Excessive consumption of the fibrous pineapple core can result in fiber balls collecting in the digestive tract.

  • @tanpm0620 I'll have to try it sometime.

  • pineappe and kiwi are the only fruit that contain "bromelain" a chemical very effective to cure a cold or flu, when you start to feel ill, eat a whole fresh pineapple or eat kiwi fruit for a few dys, bromelain is also available in capsule form in health stores! :-]

  • "Owwwww"

    :D

  • @TuhRoll Haha!

  • mmm i love to eat the core =D

  • @tsss00 as i heard it the core is good as a natural anti inflammatory - sometimes its really tough but mostly I will eat it. I hate seeing so much waste when people serve pineapples like this.

  • SMELL THE BOTTOM....O_o

  • @ChefTips Isint the core of the pineapple bitter?

  • This video has a pineapple

  • many people are surprised when the pineapple doesn't frow on a tree

you just blew my butter churning mind

  • I Love <3 chewing on the core!

  • mmm! I luv pineapple!!!!!

  • Pineapple pineapple, pineapple.....pineapple..pineapplepineapple. Pineapple pineapple. Pineapple PINEapple, pineapple pineapple.

  • Hmmm ... i like them when they r yellow like 00:12, not green. Maby its cause of the reason that I m german *gg*. Nice Vid

  • I really love cooking them this way: Take a pineapple, and cut it up as you showed. Mix cinamon, sugar and water in a bowl, until its a good liquid. Put the pineapple in the marinade, and let it stay for a few minutes. Then cook it, in a pan, for a minutes, until it gets hot, and the marinade gets soaked in. You can eat this alone, or with icecream. This is one of the best desserts i know off,

  • @AsperityGuild That sounds wonderful!!!

  • plant the hair of the pineapple

  • I like my pineapple with vanilla ice cream. Great video. you should show more of your bloopers.

  • @uhavemooface

It's a warm day. Ice cream and pineapple might end up on my plate today. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • I'm a big fan of your videos. I just stumbled on to them tonight but they're high quality, easy to follow, and you've got a sense of humor. Keep up the awesome work!

  • Hey Chef,

How about some nice Pineapple Recipe?

    Thanks

  • @ZivEstVeritas Yes! We might make pineapple smoothies or grilled pineapple this summer. Any other suggestions?

  • @ChefTips Personally, I like to combine it with meat (Thai style), but smoothies sounds just great.

  • @ZivEstVeritas We love Thai food. I could do something like that as well!

  • the core is great for guinea pigs although mine wont eat them, she finicky ... thanks J now my mouth is watering lol

  • ahaha! "aaaw!" lol

  • I like you style of cutting up the pineapple, however I have one "complaint" to make.....you didn't rinse the pineapple before you plated it :-D

I'm originally from a country where cutting up your own pineapples is a regular thing and you'll know for certain if it wasn't rinsed off after cutting.

  • I <3 fresh pinapple! thanks Jason!!!

  • Oh wow all this time I thought a pineapple came from a tree! I've been living a lie! I never and I mean never buy pineapples because I don't know how to pick a good one out. Thanks for the tips.

  • verry kewl

  • you are more fat and tanner .. seems you were in vacation :D

  • omg i loveeeee pineapple.... you made me to go to buy pineapple tmrw ;)

  • They are good anti- cancer food too.

  • my mom will put the pineapple slices into salt water.

    what for?

  • Also, the pineapple contains, bromelain. A great anti-inflammatory enzyme and helps with digestion.

  • Its a bromeliad. Bromeliad's make beautiful house plants but pineapples are the only edible one we know of.

  • hmmm i'm going to buy me some pineapple tomorrow

  • Making me hungry! I love good fruit! Great video!

  • Thanks for 'tubing" in. First time I heard that pun. I like it...

  • @wrestleforpizza Thanks. I came up with it years ago when we first started the channel, and it just stuck. Cheers! Jason

  • magnese? you mean manganese or magnesium???

  • @lovelyaley manganese. Sorry.

  • Everytime we pass a pineapple in the store..me & my husband both look at each other. 'Whose gonna cut that thing??' We never buy one.. =D

  • I loved visiting the dole plantation. Do they still have the maze?

I also agree that fresh pineapple is best.

  • @Hermyoni33 Yes, the maze is still there. But it was raining, so we didn't go through it. Maybe next time!

  • Did I say movies? I ment videos :P

  • @golddigger0325 Sounds good. Thanks!

  • thats looks really nice :D I wanna see more "food decoration" in your future movies.

  • I love pineapple the juice is the best.

  • The pineapple looks like a piece of cheese once all the umm bark...is removed.

  • I like to marinate chicken in pineapple :)

  • @mambomx Yes, that's great. Stay tuned for our Hawaiian Huli Huli Grilled Chicken video, coming soon!

  • Thanks for this video!

  • @frenchizedboi Interesting! I've never tried that. What does the salt water do for it?

  • BTW... I thought Dole closed all their plantations in Hawaii??? Am I wrong? Or maybe they're just not exporting anymore?

I miss Hawaii and all the pineapples, papaya, mango, apple bananas, etc... *sad sigh*

  • @vorpal22 so far as i know you can still go there and take the" pineapple experience" tour around the plantation. I did about a year or so ago, I'm not sure if they've done anything since.

  • @vorpal22 This is more of an informational garden. Hawaii really isn't in the export game anymore, as other countries have taken over. But the plantation is still there and very popular!

  • @ChefTips Cool! Thanks for the info. What were you doing in Oahu, by the way? Vacation?

Ever since I went there on my honeymoon, It's been my goal to move to Hawaii (I was offered a job in Hilo working at one of the observatories up on Mauna Kea)... I'm holding off, though, until I finish school (working on my PhD in comp sci).

I dream of eating fresh pineapple on the beaches of Kona :D. *happy*

  • @vorpal22 Hi, it was a "working" vacation. My brother lives on the North Shore. We'd love to move there someday as well. If not, a vacation house will do just fine! Good luck on your schooling. Sounds like you won't have any trouble finding a good job! Cheers, Jason

  • Now I've got a wicked craving for pineapple... I think I'm going to make some homemade Thai red curry paste and stir fry some chicken, pineapple, and lychee in it with a whack of lime leaves and just a bit of coconut cream. YUM!

LOVE the idea of trimming the top to make a nice, tight garnish! I'm definitely going to use that. Thanks, Jason!

  • @vorpal22 Your recipe sounds delicious! I'd love to do a video on that! Thanks for the kind comments. Cheers, Jason

  • @ChefTips Thanks, Jason! I'll work on it today and let you know how it turns out. Thai food is my main passion: I've been studying it for years (LOL I had to start cooking it myself or face insane student loans from spending a fortune at Thai restaurants :D) and eat it for usually about half my meals. I don't think that YouTube allows links in comments, but I'd love to share my own personal recipe for panang curry that I've spent years perfecting and that's got rave reviews from my friends (ctd)

  • Comment removed

  • (ctd) and family! Anyways, I posted it on Chowhound. If you go to "tiny dawt cc slash 7oi9k" you'll get there! If that doesn't work, send me a message and I'll send you the link!

  • @vorpal22 That sounds wonderful! Can you message it to me? Can't wait to see it!

  • @vorpal22 I apologize on being forward, but I love Thai cuisine as well. So I am also interested in the recipe *hint hint* or do a video of you making it...

    Thanks,

  • @tedsfl Sent you a message with the link, as did I to Jason, too!

  • i agree i like pineapple on its own

  • 1:34

    Hilarious!

    Loved the vid. :D

  • pineapple

  • Thanks for the pineapple tips. But I see there is a pineapple war going on in the comments lol. I love fresh pinapple too but don't have it often due to cost and work involved. But definately will rethink it since it's pinapple season.

  • @cozzyk Thanks! Hope this video makes cutting it up a little easier for you. Pineapple is really good for your joints as well due to the bromelain!

  • omg they have delicious pineapple floats at the dole plantation i love it there!!

what type of knife are you using do you recommend any brand??

  • @monicarod21 I'm using a 10-inch chef knife. I don't recommend any particular brand, just be sure it's long enough for the job.

  • I did think they grew on a tree! TY - great video.

  • @5starrater1 Thanks!

  • grilled pineapple? I want to try that

  • @flatronl1915SLG It's so good. You can soak it in rum and sugar for a grown-up version. I'll have to do a video about it!

  • Thanks for the tip..xo

  • That was a very good knife......

  • Simple but sooooooooooooo good :)

  • mmmmmmmmm

  • the core is the best part!

  • @NikoClemente Really? You don't eat the core do you?

  • @ChefTips I do lol.

I like how its tough, and its sweeter and has a less acidic taste.

just personal taste I guess =]

  • I love Pineapple, mix half pineapple juice and half malibu coconut rum and its a deceptively alcoholic drink that is very very very smooth. Its like you're not even drinking alcohol at all, so drink it slow.

  • @eyesofnova Now that sounds good!

  • I love chewing the core, it is the sweetest part, just use it like chewing gum! And then you throw away what you can not eat.

  • @Fancylooks Interesting. I'm learning a lot of new stuff here today!

  • This guy is awesome, thanks for all the videos.

    - I eat fresh Pineapple all the time my tongue has never ached?

  • @TokerMate I think some people are sensitive to it. My daughter has that problem sometimes.

  • Do a video about mangos! MANGOS!

  • never was too fond of this fruit sadly.

  • As some posters have noted earlier: don't eat them raw like that! Your tongue will ache severely. Either soak them in slightly salted water for a while or grill them (and let it cool back down).

  • @soneet stfu u idiot. ive never heard so much bull shit in all my life. i eat loads of pineapple all d time and my tounge is just fine tyvm. what a stupid comment.

  • @boppzz Pineapples contain a proteolytic enzyme called bromelain, which helps break down foods and is even used as a meat tenderizer. This sensation -- which some compare to touching a 9-volt battery to your tongue -- is generally due to this enzyme. A quick Google search for "pineapple tongue" shows several pages explaining this symptom. You probably have been eating canned pineapples and not fresh ones. Please refrain from acting rude in the future when ignorant from researched facts.

  • @soneet Thanks for explaining this. I was just about to when I saw your post. This is why doctors often recommend pineapple as a digestive aid. The bromelain is also great for your joints.

  • "Tucking my fingers"

If you could do a video on just how to keep your fingers out from under the effin' knife when cutting... You'd definitely save the food service industry a ton of cash from having to buy those finger condoms, bandages, and whatnot.

  • i wouldn't throw away the core, they're really sweet and they're nice to chew on :)

  • = =|||that's not how we cut our pinapple in HAINAN, and even after you cut off the skin and that much of pinapple, it is still gonna hurt your mucosa. In order to prevent that, you should try dip them in to salt water, and wait more than half an hour, then eat it.

  • Your videos have gotten really good lately. The production quality is better, and you look more comfortable behind the camera. Nice job, Jason.

  • @phychmasher Thanks. You are very kind.

  • thanks for that I've never really been sure how to choose a good pineapple!

  • White pineapple (if you can find it) is the best tasting kind. Fresh pineapple is much better than the canned stuff.

  • I love pineapples. I just cut a fresh one a day ago:)

  • ur really good at explaining cutlery !

  • Great Vid Jason!

Thumbs Up and some money love!

  • @MadBadVoodo Thanks so much! You're always too kind! J

  • I would like to know if your set is in Hawaii, because your older shows are in the same kitchen, unless it just looks alike. Just wondering. Great videos btw.
