you look very natural with the taper. I cant afford a set yet, so what do you recommend? renting? by the way my credit is shot otherwise I would have a set. Should I buy a goldblatt taper to start? How long will it take me to get the hang of it. Been a knife and trowel man for 15 years. looking for a way to compete with the illegal immigrants in the area.
@smelvin33 The best way to buy tools, on a budget like i was, was to buy one piece at a time.. i got my pump first and then a few months later a box and box handle. Got a few tools at a time and then saved up a bought a bazooka last. In my opinion tapetech is the best brand on the market. they are owned by ames and you can always get replacement part at you local ames rental stores
gis a job!! only kjoking i been a plasterer for 15 years and a venetian plasterer for 5. im thinking about getting into drywalling but ka question i got is. dont you get bored?
Looks like a good tool..I prefer taping by hand..but still a very nice demo of this tool...what ever way you tape...do it once and do it right..that's all that matters.
the bazooka puts mud behind the tape...big gaps should be prefilled...but the mud behind the tape will dry and there will be no blister or bubble..The reason you get bubbles in the tape is there is no mube under the tape...using this toll eliminates that.this guy knows his shit...he can put up 20 rolls of tape by himself in a day...
this guy moomar doesnt know his head from his ass the bazooka is the way too go im a union taper from los angeles moron and i know how too finish drywall!!!!
Looks quick and nasty.. It might be faster than a hand system but You haven't corked the gaps up, your tape will bulg . Paper tape should be bedded in flat... if theres a gap under it its impossible to run a knife over it without it bulging... (remembering you have to fill the gap between sheets) and not just put paper tape over it.. you want your joins to be strong afterall...
thats exactly what i thought, nothing behind the tape means blisters/bulging but this fella looks like he knows what he's doing.. I dunno? Does the bazooka put enough mud behind to do this?? i dunno
im a drywall finisher and yes the bazooka leaves quite a bit of mud behind the tape enough to fill in gaps its a very effective tool and the finished product looks just as nice if not better than someone who does it all by hand.
Yes, i totally agree with you. there is nothing better than do it with your hands, you need to fill up all the gaps between, otherwise short time that it will crack.
Im a sub contracter for the largest dry lining firm in the UK and used a auto taper for over 10 years, we have over 100 tapers and only use auto tapers! You have no idea what you are talking about.
Yes I do..You can't tell me that bedding tape in with an air dried compound over a gap in drywal is as strong as corking it up first with a good setting compound then bedding paper tape in with more setting compound...if so explain why?
Everytime id stop to cut the tape i would have to manually pull tape out far enough for it to grab on the wall because it wont advance it far enough to work right. i also had problem with the advance needle riping the center of the tape. The funny thing is it works fine until you fill the mudtube up. Ive tryed thinning the mud anyway you can...
Check the depth of the sticker needle, also make sure it is clean and moving properly. If it is set too deep, you may grab some paper with it at the point, that will keep it from sticking. Also, check the cam at the top of the travel, and at the side of the tape track, these should be set to move the needle in at the bottom, and out at the top.
The tools i have are Columbia tools. I could get a decent finish of the boxes wheni ran them on the ceils flats, but on the walls all they seem to do was make a mess. The biggest problem i had with the taper was getting the tape to advance correct.
You are getting a good even pressure on the ceilings. You are having trouble getting that same even pressure as you walk down the wall.
Get the feel on the ceilings, and then practice for that feel on the walls. Try to use your body weight on the walls instead of arm strength. Don't let your hands disconnect from your feet while you walk, think about it, you'll get the feel with practice.
Does your dvd that you sell show you how to properly adjust the blades on the boxes? Ive got a set of the tools and so far im highly disapointed in them. They slowed me down 4 or 5 times what i can do by hand instead of speeding me up. Im sure its because im not doing something right. i just wanna give them a chance instead of throwing them down considering what they costed.
If they are Goldblatt boxes, no. Goldblatt took all of the adjustability out of them with their re-design, which was quite ill-informed.
The engineers that change taping tools only look at profits, never at workability. The best bet today is to stick with the original designs, regardless of who makes it.
Goldblatt is the biggest offender right now on design changes at the expense of workability. Their taper is the only thing that they have in the line that is a good value for a good tool.
@rseiberos2002 the bazooka is as follows: it's a union tool meant for 2 guys wiping behind you,2 - it's too heavy and your tired by 11 in the morning,3 it's useless in the high parts where you have to climb a ladder to get in tight spaces.4 it's expensive .5 it's a bitch to clean and parts are costly. for a one man show get the supertaper. a taper you stick in the bucket and feed the roll threw .
Man, you can't run that thing worth a shit! Just kidding, this is Jer... from knoxville. Everybody on youtube, I'll bet my right hand that this is the best tool man you'll ever see
@jrnyace i taped fron 1978 til 2009 .and that was it. i work at a restoration company for 26 an hour now, they gave me a van, blackberry and gascard... i'll never look back
Nice gun work...I always watch to see how a guy uses the creaser wheel to know if he has the "finesse" only experience can give you. So what part of the country are you working in? I am looking for a new head for a tube, mine got twisted in some heavy gauge studs while riding a lift in a tight area. Do you have a head you want to sell? Just the body...don't really need the parts if you don't have then all.
Be " aware " of doing buisness with this guy, LOSER

If you want a lousy job use a bazooka like this guy. It sez right on the side of the mud bucket "Do not over-thin".
To get the mud to run through a bazooka you must over-thin it.
