I've been watching TYT since 2007 and i swear this is the first fucking time that i saw the video where that sound bite came from. I fucking love that sound bite.
They shouldnt have fired Singletary, for the first time in a while i was VERY excited about the season, just because of the coach, now thats sayin something, he brings a firery attitude that the niners need, hopefully harbaugh can bring the leadership that we need to succed
This is why Cenk has little credibility with me. Both him and Singletary just like to talk loud and talk tough, but have little substance. At least Singletary has a legendary background as a player.
Singletary says he "wants winners". But can he make winners? Bill Walsh was not only a coordinator but an innovator & a teacher who understood both sides of the football (his Elephant defense was just as ingenious as the West Coast offense). Singletary is just old school. Walsh had a sense of humor & was as cool as can be. Singletary is wound up tighter than a spring in a Swiss watch & the big wooden cross on his chest tells everybody the Niners are this ex-Chicago Bear's cross to bear.
Like most great coaches, Bill Walsh MADE his coordinators beause a successful head coach knows how to coach coaches. Mike Singletary could NEVER do that. Singletary was promoted over guys more qualified than himself. Now that he's gone, the Niners can go out and get some brains for a brain trust that hasn't had any for the last 8 years.
@TNAKurtAngle Bill Walsh had players. The man had Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Steve Young, etc. Singletary had Alex Smith a guy that has been a complete bum for the past six years; and Troy Smith, a guy that should have never been a qb in the league to begin with. So they saddle the guy with bum A and bum B, then expect him to succeed; and are surprised when he doesn't.
i love the niners but singletary is a bust. he has lost his team. after the day singletary tells the team jimmy ray is on boat for the season, the very next day he gets fired. who is in charge anyways? its not singletary thats for sure.
i am sick of his bad coaching.
bring on gruden or the steelers old coach. we need some experience and a coach that knows how to call plays. mike was a motivator and thats it.
sorry mike. i tried, i really did. but your shit aint working man,.
@cleanarmboy Gruden is not much of an improvement, as he is out out of the NFL for a reason. His abrasive style ran thin at Tampa Bay, and after winning with Dungy's players, his team went to the shitter.
@4thandinches maybe not much. but he would be better. at least he would be more then a so called rah rah coach. he knows x's and o's .i think thats what we need right now. . the first play of the game after we had the long run from the kick off. we had the fans going crazy, the whole world is watching , damn throw it deep man. ride the momentum. but instead we run it up the gut. blah fail. we actually did score that drive but shit keep that momentum going . use it to your advantage.
I would rather play with 10 people and just get penalized all the way...Me too Mike. I'm with you man. I never realized what a great person he was, besides a great coach and a great player too.
I think this is one of the best speeches by a coach. He turned this team around. Look at Alex Smith, he is a productive QB now. Now Vernon Davis is a top 5 TE in the league!

Singletary is 180 degrees from 'TYT' style. But for the second time I actually agree with Cenk. I was one who when people said - fire Nolan, oh yeah, replace with who? I would always say - SINGLETARY!!! People didn't believe me. Didn't want to hear, just like Dem. Of course, it's his first full season. The team hasn't looked sharp in preseason. But, we'll see, starting tomorrow. Attitude counts for a LOT. Cause they all have the skills. Okay - so why does Cenk back a wimp like Obama??????
The 49ers have been a more disciplined, solidified football team this pre-season than they were with Nolan. I love the old school approach. too many NFL coaches are lax with their players. I want winners, so guess what, I'm gonna get tough!
I wouldn't call him a legendary coach.... Sure he's a legendary player but as a coach it takes a different approach .... He didn't earn the legendary coach comment that's for sure....
The best? Not even close. "The best" doesn't need to cheat. Sure the team was fun to watch, and they were good. But...So was Bonds and just like Bonds...an * next to their Superbowl teams is justified.
I have a greater admiration for Singletary after that press conference. The message he sent and how he was able to deliver it are things i hope to do as a coach. I just hope he can be successful with what he does. Props to Mike!
What could be more important in the NFL then winning? NOTHING! The way hes able to get his players to achieve so much regardless of injuries and/or lack of talent is unrivaled, and winning 3 Superbowls in 4 years (which has never been done before) proves hes a winner, not to mention their perfect regular reason. Now I know you're gonna say something about his Cleveland days, but he was able to learn from that and become the coach that he is today (THE BEST). But I'm curious, who's your pick?
??? "puke my guts out"? So I take it you're not a Patriot fan huh, well even so you cannot deny that Belichick is (already) one of the greatest head coaches of all-time, and argueably the best. Yeah I know about Lombardi, Brown, Landry, Halas, Walsh, etc. but all these coaches had very talented teams, and what sets Belichick apart is that he's able to maximize his limited personal and get them to consistantly compete at Superbowl levels, which in my book makes him the best (ESPN agrees too).
49ers fans should be happy that they have a coach like this. I guarantee that if Singletary gets a team that can contend for a title that they'll win at least 1 Superbowl.
Win, win, win. The win at all costs discussions are fine for the sports but I wonder if that whole attitude is not what that Republican disease is all about.
Win. Do whatever it take to win. Just win.
What the heck is so wonderful about "winning" in the first place?
I know if feels good, but winning at all costs is a corrosive value which belongs on the right not on the left.
Isiah Thomas sucked as a gm, but he was pretty ok as a coach. Check his record at Indiana. Indiana has been relegated to mediocrity since Bird fired him. He just flamed out in NY as a coach because of what he gave himself to work with as gm.
Where the hell does politics come in here, this is about FOOTBALL! Now I'm not even a 49er fan but Mike Singletary is now my favorite head coach, second to only the greatest of all time, Bill Belichick.
how is obama progressive? He never brings up a living wage, he never brings up equal rights for gays and lesbians, he doesnt want to end the war in iraq (hes gonna keep contractors there), he wants to increase our intervention in afghanistan, he wants to increase the military industrial complex.

I think the NFL made one of the worst mistakes in kickign Eddie D out of the Ownership position he has. By forcing the transition to the Yorks the NFL has transformed the $9ers in to the Arizona Cardinals. Part of the downturn was the inevitable fall from the top that all sports powerhouses suffer from. It happened to the Yankees twice, The Packers, Steelers, Cowboys, Celtics, Knicks, Canadians, Edmonton Oilers, etc. However, the NFL and Yorks have killed a flagship franchise. It sucks!
Mike Singletary was a ferocious competitor. Looks like he still is. Guys like that are successful because they hate to lose, maybe even more than they love to win. He'd take somebody's heart out to win a game of checkers, to be a winner you have to have that type of passion.
That's the kind of attitude I can respect. It doesn't matter if you think you're better than your teammates, if you aren't playing with the team, you're out.
Also, seeing as I'm from Seattle and this breaks our losing streak, GO HAWKS. That is all.
sing set the table for harbaugh. harbaugh has the brains but sing made a group of losers have the desire to win.

that word is awesome....what does it mean tho (sorry)?

Mike Singletary was a ferocious competitor. Looks like he still is. Guys like that are successful because they hate to lose, maybe even more than they love to win. He'd take somebody's heart out to win a game of checkers, to be a winner you have to have that type of passion.

Yeah! I've been wondering the same thing. Wtf does he say?? You sure its just turkish slang? Doesn't make sense to use it on an American show..

Yeah, can someone out there type out the word and explain what it means? I might start saying it myself. It sounds like fun.

That's the kind of attitude I can respect. It doesn't matter if you think you're better than your teammates, if you aren't playing with the team, you're out.
Also, seeing as I'm from Seattle and this breaks our losing streak, GO HAWKS. That is all.

did Vernon Davis croak when Sing took the yoke and his bloat'd ego poked because Sing refuses to choke? Ah, respect Sing or drown in a moat.
