Well harrypalms1112, what have we learnt from your offering? 1 : That YOU are most definitely NOT a genius! In fact you can't even spell! 2: You have a homosexual crush on Perry Farrell - which is fine, don't get me wrong! 3: You clearly have never much of the musical world, e.g. people like Todd Rundgren. (HE is a "genius".) 4: Like many people, you have to resort to an expletive to try and strengthen your case - it doesn't work! Even PF's band wouldn't come out with such a daft suggestion!
Eric Avery did a lot of the arrangements and his bass lines took care of the bottom end, but also added flavor to the songs. Chris Channey is one of those guys who look good on paper. But I think his bass lines are boring and flavorless.
MATYN LENOBLE WAS ON BASS FOR AWHILE WHY IN THE HELL WOULD THEY RATHER HAVE CHRIS CHENNEY I GUESS IT IS BECAUSE CHENNEY USES A PICK MARTYN LENOBLE IS BETTER THAN FLEA BUT THAT IS ME I SAY BRING BACK PORNO FOR PYROS I LOVE THEM JANES HAS HGAS THEIR TIME PORNO FOR PYROS NEVER DID. HATE ME IF YOU WANT HATING ME MEANS YOU HATE YOURSELF LOVE,WILLIAM :"THE JOKER"
AMEN I THINK THAT THERE S NO JANES WITHOUT ERIC AVERY I WOULD HAVE RATHER HAD ERIC STAY IN THE BAND AND PETER DISTAFANO REPLACE DAVE NAVARRO LOVE,WILLIAM "THE JOKER"
So Eric's left , again ! and Chris Chaney is back on bass. Heard some tracks off the new album , wow ! it's mighty fantastic ( Dave sitek on bass on LP) cant wait to get my hands on that one.
@sydbarrett5 yeah, totally defined the sound of the band, but i think the stuff they did with chaney and the last record are really good too, so i think they are all great musicians,
So what Eric out and McKagan in for the new album? My ultimate sub was the Flea but that fizzled out in the late 90's. Have to say though, McKagan is the closest bass player out there to Eric, playing wise. When is the new album due?
Perry has been full of crap for way too long. Jane's Addiction should be a TEAM. FOUR (4) Equals. But it will always be Perry first, wanting Dave, Stephen, and Eric following him. Eric is right to stay out. Its too bad. Perry will never wake up. LSD (lead singer disease)
@leavinghope1970 well, the singer is the liaison with John Q. Public. Generally the biggest personality. From what I saw this summer this band is doing just fine.
I just love Perry. xoxoxo Can't believe how much we've all grown up. Odd feeling to think back to our days in the '80s and just how incredibly great they were... Kids, enjoy your time now-- you, too, will look back on your (these) days and wish time had stopped. Like he said "for us these are the days"... it was true for us oldies then-- true for you young people now!
Eric and Perry are both geniuses its a pity they couldn't work things out for the greater good. As they know we only get one chance at this life. Its detrimental for the fans more than anything. A new album with him could have been a real eye opener in view of Eric's solo work. Taking nothing away from any of these gentlemen I feel a bit gutted as a fan, but still welcome Mr McKagan.
@seekah1 I disagree. Dave is a really good guitarist but he didn't invent a new style of playing, he's derivative. JA is unique as a band, very unique and very important, but Dave brought nothing new to the guitar. I think he is placed very well in the stratosphere of guitar players, that is, he is a very good guitarist. I don't think he's underrated. I just think in general not as many people know him for his playing people don't listen to much rock anymore. those who do know, know hes great.
