If you like John Carpenter's scores check out my channel. I made a concept record that involves deconstructing Carpenter's scores and remixing Lil Waynes tracks with the deconstructed scores. It is super dark and heavy.
Kurt Russel, Kieth David, and a huge love for John Carpenter's "Escape" movies made me want to watch this movie. I'm so easily frightened and whatnot that I wound up turning it off after like 30 seconds of the first transformation sequence. So I guess having a LEGO version makes it easier to watch, heheh.
this is tight! Just needs better photography, the quality isn't too good..otherwise cool vid...I used to make tons of Lego movies years ago...lotta fun!
i loved it it was well made and the lighting effects were cool to, but what i did was instead of using more legos to make the people change i used clay so like thier heat could be one place and he has like more tentical like arms y-know?
Too bad I can't understand a word they're saying, but the voices add to the comedy. Plus, the death cries are hilarious! And that scene with the shadow on the wall was just brilliant. 5/5!
You gotta just love the noise the thing makes when it tries to attack someone. Very inventive filming, just a shame the rez is rather low and it's a bit grainy .. but it's very good. Thanks for sharing this.
An excellent production dude! Totally atmospheric and 'Carpenter-esque'. Mac's beard was spot on and as the other dude said, the sombrero to boot. Nice one. Great editing too; the main plot line came through perfectly. I loved it.
i work at a video store and you CANT get people to rent this movie. they say its too old. i try to tell them how awesome and scary it is, but they wont listen.
Where are the black guys! I would have preferred a more faithful rendition, and I didn't care for the squeeky voices. As a fan of lego version however, I found it silly and good with great animation effects! The Thing is one of my favorite movies; this was a great piece on it!

Agreed. The original had acting that was as cheesy as the special effects. Not to mention a story line that must have stayed home for the weekend because I didn't see much of one in this sad excuse for a Carpenter flick. I'll admit the guy is a genius director and is very creative, but what was up with this thing?

the real movie sucked a big one. The special effects were grossly terrible. It was Alien thats for sure. If you want to see a good sci-fi movie with a horror theme check that out or Aliens Vs Predator Requiem.
so you're saying a teen slasher movie disguised as a sci-fi movie is greater than The Thing? I can't believe you actually think that. The Thing is hailed as one of the greatest horror/sci-fi movies of all time and you said AVPR was better? HA.
Alien came out around 1979 and it had some of the most amazing and realistic special effects ever captured on camera. Not to mention those star wars films had very creative special effects as well and came out before this movie. I liked your ending better because lego Macready mentions the rescue team will arrive and for now they should rest before finding out what will happen. That ending is similar to the alternate ending that was considered for the original film.

Yeah, this comes from a guy that's 21 and thinks that any CGI horror flick is good. Thanks for insulting Stan Winston. I guess unless there are teen titties flashing around and some guns, its not a good flick, right? Jeez, what a pinhead. Definite child of the 90's.

For your information I'm older than that. Second of all this movie was hailed as the most hated movie ever! If you don't believe me watch the interview with John Carpenter on Youtube he mentions people thought it was crap back then and they still do now, except for some cults out there that like cheesey effects and lots of (fake) gore. I still can't believe this is from the same genius that brought us Escape From New York and Halloween. Halloween was a great movie with out all the fake blood!
First of all, it's not cults. It's a dedicated fanbase similar to that of Tremors and Jurassic Park. If the fanbase can have a mega site that breaks down the movie piece by piece, it's not a cult hit, it's more than that. Secondly if it was so terrible then why did it get a video game and why is it still mentioned in magazines and WHY is it coming out on Blu-Ray?
The Thing hated?? Rue Morgue just did a HUGE anniversary retrospective on it...hated? Nobody I know hates this gem...cheesy effects?? Really? Tense, great performances from everyone, and amazing 'real time effects', not that souless CGI excrement..This movie was a little to bleak for it's time...remember ET came out around the same time...people wanted feel good movies at the time...this is NOT a feel good movie...it's a creepy classic.
I'm 20 and I love this movie :D. I like CGI but it's overuse and abuse is horrible. Jurassic Park did it right but the sequels fell for the trap as well.
For all those who hate the voices, for god's sake it freaking LEGOS for crying out loud! What do you want? Serious drama and suspense? IT'S FUNNY!!!!!
So you've seen the remake but not the original...how do you know the remake is better? Some one told me there were less gore and blood in the remake, is that right?
The Carpenter one isn't a remake of the first THING, it's another version of Who Goes There? The first one had very little gore, but was VERY suspenseful.
