  • This project started back in 2003 or 2004. I still remember spending almost a whole weekend back in late 2004 building it and solving all the dependencies to make it work on some version of suse linux.

Compiz/Beryl came much later than that, and they mostly used ideas from both Looking Glass and MacOSX.

Although most of the things that LG3D does seem pointless now, back in 2004 they looked just amazing.

  • Of course it look amazing.

But what is the point ? Except to impress people and say :

"Look what I can do with MY computer" it does not relieve from fatigue and poer comsumption. Does it ?

  • O.S means operation System

SUN is a pure UNIX Platform

UNIX is the FATHER of linux

the Letter X in linux point that linux is so close related to Father UNIX

  • I would suggest to Linux programers to make something like those for Linux too..good luck people...

  • It is a Looking Glass desktop on Solaris

  • What OS is that? Is it Solaris or what?!

  • is this solaris?

  • This is really nice. Why have they not made Looking Glass mainstream?

  • useless features

  • thought the same thing lol

  • WHAT THE HELL!!! THAT'S AWESOME!!!

but i can imagine that it would use quite a large amount of processing power... where can you get it? (somewhere in australia perhaps?)

  • Compiz Fusion or Beryl for linux can already do this kind of stuff...

  • What do you mean "already"? this is a video from quite a while back. Beryl and Compiz stole everything from sun.

  • dang! this OS is PWNSOME!

  • Solaris was a really good OS. It is to bad they didn't include a desktop env like this with it years ago in their prime days.

  • that does not really answer his question lol! Now, onto his question; where can you get this OS??

  • Its NOT AN OS. Its a program that you can run on Linux, Solaris, or Windows. But you need a high spec machine to run it.

  • Solaris is the best OS ever :)
