Turning water into steam from the friction of the bottle being twisted. Steam is water expanded 1700 times so even a couple droplets would create enough steam to give the illusion of the bottle being cloudy. That's my guess.

We've been doing this in my school for the past century

Simple way: Warm water, shake bottle, light match, blow it out and let it smoke JUST a little, untwist the lid and throw the match in then tighten the lid REALLY fast, then squeeze the bottle (hard) a couple times then release... The low pressure is what makes the cloud. Enjoy. ^^

After twisting, if you hold it for a minute or two and then releasing will give more cloud.

If the bottle is dry inside, there will be no cloud.
