When all is said and done, they haven't got the girl. They've got a lot of wasted time and a broken heart because they couldn't get the girl (even though she probably wasn't quite right for them anyway.) They explain the experience by saying that she's only after bad guys, and that they're not a bad guy (so they're a "nice guy".) The truth is that the bad guy is probably just a confident, hot guy who's let his appearance go to his head, and so treats people like crap (which can happen.)
You forget that some guys only go after girls who aren't interested because said girls are shallow and only date hot guys with buff muscles and shining personalities... essentially what they see as "perfect people". (Sorry this is so long, youtube). That's only one scenario. Then there's passive people, like you said, who don't go after what they want, and so end up wondering why they're alone, even though they haven't done anything to cause them not to be alone. They think maybe they were just too nice.
In either situation, niceness is not niceness at all. It's just a justification for why they're single and unlucky in this department.

When all is said and done, they haven't got the girl. They've got a lot of wasted time and a broken heart because they couldn't get the girl (even though she probably wasn't quite right for them anyway.) They explain the experience by saying that she's only after bad guys, and that they're not a bad guy (so they're a "nice guy".) The truth is that the bad guy is probably just a confident, hot guy who's let his appearance go to his head, and so treats people like crap (which can happen.)

"Nice guys" are not really nice, i like to think of them as jerks with low self esteem and unassertiveness. They're both insecure about themselves! Not to be stereotypical, as all people deserve equal respect and judgement IMO, but the real man is the one that usually ends up the most happy. He's the one who can conquer his insecurities/fears from within, which results in integrity, humility, and confidence (not cocky!)

I listen to women and I'm random/spontaneous around them in conversation. I don't do small talk, so the input I typically give is in the form of humor. Humor is very memorable too. When I shift into serious mode about something, I appear knowledgeable and powerful.
Well, I don't really *appear* per-se, I am. It is more of that I reveal myself. I guess that is the mystery factor, which women like that too.
