Maynard is like a robot programmed for awesomeness - there's amazing comedy, serious messages, and above all world-class art oozing from his pores - that's not to say the band doesn't contribute, musically tool is easily [in my opinion] the best rock band there has ever been. all of them are ridiculously amazing and maynard sometimes gets too much credit from fans. I probably would have had a heart attack at this show caused by direct exposure to awesome. Haven't put Aenima on in a while, but this is making me remember why I lived inside that album for months on end. That guitar tone, of course that drumming, and the permeating humor of the whole thing (hooker, Message to Harry, refrences to Bill Hicks etc.) Solid front to back even if you don't really dig lots of prog/metal.

tool is not underappreciated at all they are an incredibly popular band. they have consistently been selling out shows for nearly twenty years and headline festivals such as lollapalooza and coachella regularly. if you listen to the right radio stations you can hear three or four tool songs played every day. if thats not mainstream then i dont know what is. do not judge popularity by mtv airtime or bullshit like that
