Ok first off, the Asian guy definitely gets into it, that's totally great that he does something he loves with pride, if a little weird. Second, wouldn't circuit bending a RADIO be even more spontaneous? If you think about it, the radio is making a different sound almost every time you hear it, so bending that sound should really give an interesting effect shouldn't it?

@jailbreakir Cause circuit bending a radio would probably kill you (NEVER circuit bend something that runs on mains) and secondly, items that are circuit bent usually fetch samples stored on ROM chips or use oscillators. The intentional short circuit causes these components to act in unpredictable ( and sometimes destructive) fashions. The video doesn't really get into the mechanics of it. It tries to, but then it gets diverted by the art of it with the asian guy.

Cool tutorial. One thing I always wondered is if it is possible to route the sound to an audio jack so you can record a dry sample of the audio? Or would you just have to record it externally?

You could solder on an audio jack and plug it into an amp or whatever. From what I was reading, just solder your jack to the wires that go to the speaker.

i don't see why you couldn't hook it up to an input somehow. i mean, it goes thru a speaker, so just solder the connection to an audio plug instead of whatever speaker the sound comes out of. or split it and send it thru both, hell throw a swtich on that and u could switch between input mode and speaker mode... with electronics the possibilities are only limited to your imagination
