All those big named people, clearly there for self-promotion, every single one of their acts with the exception of the Who, were terrible, all for themselves, and then come along Extreme who do th right thing and perform tribute to queen and freddie and involving the audience, and yet those big names get onto the DVD and Extreme don't. Typical fucking injustice of music!!
Is this footage from the original TV broadcast? I don't recall seeing this on VHS (I know the DVD doesn't have this footage). Anyway, I have the complete show recorded from the original BBC Radio 1 FM broadcast :) Question: How was the split-screen/multiple angle editing accomplished?
Oh man, I remember this when it first aired. It was great to see Extreme own the entire show (the George Michael/Elton John one was the only other memorable performance that day). Nuno jamming on Another Bites The Dust. Hearing his guitar come sweeping in on Radio Gaga still sends chills up my spine, as well as the "anywhere the wind blows" part at the end. Brilliant stuff. Definitely a highlight during Extreme's popularity.
@henkestenke Yeah. This was a long day and Norwegian TVN broadcast pretty much everything live that day. But this, more than anything else is what stuck with me afterwards. When the big names played the same songs in the evening, i thought "Yeah, this is great. But not as good as Extreme."
thanks 4 posting this i can remember when it was on tv i taped it & loved the 1st part of the gig. lent the tape 2 a frend he played it 2 death hant seen it sence ROCK & ROLL

I also dont understand WHY this is not on the DVD release! I was SO disappointed that it wasnt on there as I bought the DVD JUST for this... I still have the video somewhere ... may have to get it transferred to DVD at some point! Extreme ROCK!!!!
Why on earth did they not put this on the DVD?!! Can't think of any logical reason! They outshone everyone else by far, apartb from maybe George Michael. Maybe that's why it wasn;t put on??? (But GM was). Extreme performed some off Queen's biggest hits and it's not on the DVD!!!!!!!! They really should reissue another version, maybe for the 20th anniversary of Freddie's death next year (can you believe it's that long?)
witness the best guitar player ever. Anybody want to argue, just listen to "Play With Me" or "Mutha Don't Wanna Go to School Today" or, Hell, anything Nuno plays. Boggles my mind.
Definition of Balls: Going out at the FMTC and utterly nailing a Queen tribute medley. This is still one of the most moving musical performances I've ever seen. Thanks for the high quality upload, it's amazing to see and hear it in such good quality again!
people mock gary for the way he performs on stage here but it's no different to freddie. i think it's the perfect tribute to the greatest singer and greatest band ever.
For me, this is one of those," you remember where you were when you first saw it" moments. Looking back, I think it shows Extreme's love for Freddie and Queen, that they put this together and rehearsed (a lot). The rest of the tributes were just bad covers. Extreme was probably the smallest act on the bill but blew me and everyone else away.

Awesome band and awesome performance. "III Sides To Every Story" is my favorite Extreme album and one of my all-time favorites. That compilation was a brilliant work of art and really showed the incredible chemistry between Gary and Nuno. It's definitely a musician's album. It's unfortunate that idiots like Kanye and the Black Eyed Piss-ants with their Autotune bastardizations of "music" rule the airwaves.....REAL musicians rule!

Thank you for posting this (along with the first half) and doing such an incredible job with the split screen editing. Mad props!
Extreme has always been one of my favorite bands, but this proves just how truly great and special they are. The end of "Radio Ga Ga" where the ENTIRE crowd is clapping together sends chills up my spine and gives me goosebumps everytime I see it. Why this was never included on the DVD I have NO idea!
@TopVersnelling They could have released the concert on 3 VHS tapes - I doubt us fans would have minded :) Besides - the DVD is edited (80% of the show is missing).
@Muchrevs The truth? There wasn't enough space on the DVD and the "big name" acts, by contract, get first dibs on space available.......that left good parts of the best act on the cutting room floor. What a shame. EXTREME absolutely OWNED that concert and Brian May was f'n proud too!

This needs to be aired again on the most watch channel - for Uk that wud probably be ITV or summet - Extreme are fucking brilliant yet so under rated it makes my blood boil!!!
1992..good lord, hard to believe it's been almost been 18 since this originally aired in april, great performance from these guys,Gary playing with the audience from :48 -1:25 is totally Freddie, awesome awesomeness
This is simply fantastic. Amazing harmonies. I can't believe I passed on the chance to see these guys a few years back in Boston. Extreme could be the most underrated band ever.
For those people that think Extreme is a no talent hair band, watch part 1&2 of this concert. Nuno alone has more talent in his pinky than all the bands out there today. Never get sick of watching their set, they should've done the entire show.
It is a guitar made by Jim Mouradian, it is the guitar version of the bass that Pat was playing. The shape is the letter C and S and stands for Chris Squire from the band Yes, He was Jim Mouradians favorite bass player and Jim originally made it for him.
A couple of my friends were at this show and they said that Extreme stole the show. Totally out-played all others and the vocal harmonies were spot on. Check out extreme live on their next tour and you will be blown away. Thanks for posting
it is amazing that after all these years that I still get chills watching this performance... I seen them twice in the last 18 months and if you get the chance to see them somewhere I would highly recommend it... They are still AWESOME!
@Knoplesch well said, I hae seen them at least 10 times since they first came around in the late 80's. Most underrated, most talented band. III Sides says it all of their musical talent.
Paul Geary the drummer is Godsmack's manager and a lot of other bands too!! HE fit better with Extreme than Mike "spazztick" Mangini did. This music needs basic beats with a smooth groove. Thanks Paul!!
They just crushed it. It has been nearly 20 years since that show - and this performance is still stuck in my head. Thanks for posting so I could see it again.
this was one of the highlights on the tribute concert. they put so much effort and love into this medley, so many great ideas. their own sound and these great songs...number one on the show!!!!
2:56 Nuno is really feelin the song. What a genius Extreme turned out to be coming up with all the arrangements and progressions. The pre-90 bands were great - hair metal or otherwise.
This was by far the best tribute performance of that day. I have watched this for years on VHS from back in the day. What a pleasure to see this on YouTube. I still get chill bumps when they hit the harmony on "anywhere the wind blows" at the end.
Hey dude.. great job!!! but it will be amazing if you add the missing part just after that when they play more than words and love of my life, i've got the whole concert in tape with the bands opening but i can't find the complete show with all the songs... anyways... this is a great mix
Regarding Extreme's Performance: As far as most people are concerned, one band and one artist that day had their best performance ever. Extreme and George Michael. This was frighteningly close to the real thing if Queen had taken the stage, and, considering the circumstances, maybe better than the real thing. This is how you pay tribute to an amazing artist. Freddie was smiling down on Extreme that day.
Huge, HUGE Gary Cherone fan here. Love Extreme. Gary's vocals are so perfect on this. Outstanding video. I won't stop watching this video. It puts me in a great mood. You have my respect for making such a great video.
I don't know how i've missed this for going on four years; this is incredible. I have to go through your clips TobleroneTwo

2:56 Nuno is really feelin the song. What a genius Extreme turned out to be coming up with all the arrangements and progressions. The pre-90 bands were great - hair metal or otherwise.

Awesome tribute!

This was by far the best tribute performance of that day. I have watched this for years on VHS from back in the day. What a pleasure to see this on YouTube. I still get chill bumps when they hit the harmony on "anywhere the wind blows" at the end.

The Radio Ga-ga sounds somewhat different, but still somewhat good...
Different from the "exciting" style of the original,
It somehow relaxing....

Only one singer other than Gary Cherone came close to doing Freddie justice and that was George Michael. I know Brian was impressed...
