@tomerteo123 Those balloons were tethered to the ground with multiple steel cables. The idea was that a plane would fly through the cables, causing the cables to rip off wings and such. The cables were usually made thin enough so that they'd be basically impossible to see at the speed planes are moving. They were mostly effective against low flying aircraft. Balloons like that in WW2 even took down a little over 200 V1 cruise missiles.
@cobra427fan Well, if it helps your search any, I can tell you the name of the song. It is called "Morte Dabor" and is part of the Red Baron movie soundtrack. I think it was song 22. The composers are Dirk Reichardt and Stefan Hansen. I'm almost certain somebody on youtube has all the songs from the OST posted so you can find it there.
I haven't seen the movie, but the music here gives the battle a very somber feeling. It's not an adventure, it's war...it seems like that's what they are trying to say.
@welltrainedmom This is one scene of the movie--not the entire film. ;)
In the first scenes, there is very much a sense of good-natured adventure. The film is about Richthofen's personal journey through WWI, and so, as the story progresses the mood and cinematography changes from a sunny, adventurous tale to a sullen, somber world of violence and destruction.
This is a scene later in the film, at a time when the political ridiculousness of the war was really affecting Richthofen.
@welltrainedmom This is one of the later scenes. The film moves from the heroic glamour of what's basically a Boy's Own adventure of duelling knights of the air through to a gradual realisation in von Richtofen of the true horror of war.
