this is pretty nifty! @jenna: this is NOT animal abuse...abuse would be not trimming her feet and letting that infection fester in her foot until she became a downer cow...downer cows die. they go down, and can't get back up. the method looks a little medieval, but just because the mechanism isn't lined with fleece, doesn't mean it isnt humane and effective.
Laying the cow on her side is a natural position the cow can be in and most comfortable! Trimming the cow in any other way is hazerdous to the hips and the lower joints like the knees and ankles. Then chaining of the legs is for an accurate and percise trim. without doing so can cause slips and unnessisary accidents! i assure you this is the most humane way to safely trim a cow!
seriously!? this is animal abuse... how can you chain her up like this?? I know you have to take care of her hooves, but can't you find another way to do it??
