We spray one heavy coat of primer and one very very heavy top coat. I spray from top to bottom over lapping 50% going very slow with a 1221. No second coat.
im a painter in L.A and I really like how you work and the quality of your work, ive learned a lot thanks to your videos, im i would have to contract someone to paint my house it would be you.
We stay 3" away as the paint would dry prior to top coat then the dried paint would bridge when pulling the masking off. We pull the masking off as soon as the top coat is sprayed. If you apply enough paint you will get an even sheen and eliminate picture framing. Picture framing is caused by to little top coat. If ceiling are a different color we drop plastic down the walls and mask the ceiling line with 9" paper and spray the ceilings.
Thanks for the reply! When you spray 3 inches from trim, do you then go back and cut in with a brush? How do you prevent picture framing? What about ceilings? Thanks for your help!
Here is how we go about new construction interior painting. Drywall and all trim is installed. Prep trim using spackle and caulking. Prime all trim with white lacquer undercoater two coats. Sand and bondo all spackled areas sand again.. Spray all trim with two coats. Mask all trim. Sand over spray on drywall. We then prime drywall spraying about 3 inches away from trim. One very heavy coat. Spray walls one very heavy coat and pull masking while paint is still wet.
Here is a brief explanation. Lots of work for very little money. Other draw backs. Builders don't pay as soon as the job is complete, you have to keep going back for touch ups and are expected to touch up others damage and you don't get paid for it, builders don't want to pay for good products, you need a crew just for touch ups to make it efficient, crappy drywallers make you life miserable, you work for one customer a builder how many referrals will you get? What if builder goes BK?
Main walls are a color called Wicker. I believe a Sherwin Williams color. Ceiling were a color called Oyster. Trim was also Oyster.

@idahopainters by spraying a heavy coat on the drywall you spray side to side first then up and down or the 50% overlap wil be enough?
