If anyone knows of any sailors from Task Force Clearwater in I Corps, please contact me at just4dl@hotmail.com. My father manned the 50's from '69-'70, and I know he'd love to chat with a fellow river rat. Or, any marines up in Hue or on the Perfume in '69-'70? Chances were good that, at some point, my old man probably gave you a lift.
What model boat is at 1:37 it looks like the one we would take to go swimming at drink beer behind some rocks while waiting for the brass,Danang Harbor. I thought was a mark three but never really knew.
My father was in the Vietnam War. He was in the Navy during the war. He would ride along the rivers in Nam, on a PBR boat. He was part of a UDT. His spot was on the twin 50's. He is a great man along with all of the Vets that served in Nam.
Awesome, Completely Awesome ! Will have to share it with some of the young soldiers I know just coming home now. Tig - TigerSafety.US (web-site) Check out Soldier Home " Can You Feel it ! " on my video page.
I was assigned to the Uss Mercer APB39 in 1968-69 TF117 Does anyone know the name of the first ship shown at the begining of this video? Excellent video!
At :48 there is a picture taken from a Mine Sweeper Drone - MSD. i was in Mine Division 113 - operated those drones. Anyone know who provided that picture?
Great video. I was stationed with River assault group 116 and 116.5 from "68 to '69. Mostly in Dong Tam and My Tho. Brown Water Navy was the best and we did a great job. Keep up the fight brothers.
I have a close friend that served on a PBR 66-68, he's in the biker world now,as I m. I too served 68-69 Newport News 148..I will tell him of this video,in the coming wks. when we meet. Thanks
Wow, this video actually surprised me. My Old Man was involved with NavSpecOps since the late 1950's, and He, along with some of the Greatest individuals I have ever known, really pushed forth with the concept of Inshore/Coastal/Littoral Warfare Units. This slide show is the first time that I have actually seen photographs of the IUW Boats in Vietnam, so thanks for that!
My Old Man's last command was IUW Group 2 (In the NSN Area), before he retired in 1987 as a Captain (Brevet Rear Admiral).
My dad was in the navy during 70-71. In country, always talks about the YRBM-21. He is sick from vietnam related illnesses. They pumped in the agent orange laden water into the showers for the enlisted guys, and it is known to have made people ill later in life. I urge everyone to go the VA and put a claim in, he did, and nows he's considered 100%(also had hearing damage though from mortars) Any questions, drop me a line.
@calbroker I'm pretty sure I served on the same boat in 1970 with River Assault Division 152. I was with T-3 right up to the end when it was turned over to the VNN.
My father was on T-92-12 in '67. I am currently serving in the USN.
