  • I LOVE this song. Takes me back whenever I hear it! I am 32 now, and remember listening to it as a teenager

  • ah '95, i remember going to the store and buying this Melon collie and the infinate sadness - unlike nowadays we had to wait until release day and that really made an album more special because of the suspense... rushing home to hear it. I'll never forget hearing what for me is the best album of the '90s

Billy Corgan created something so special. his songwriting, his voice and his lyrics were all in their peak. I miss the days when the big music stars actually had artistic thought and passion

  • Maybe people will think I'm ignorant because I'm 13... but, I grew up with the smashing pumpkins in my ears. I have loved this album since 2nd grade. It brings back so many memories... I still listen to it. On my list of things to do before I die: see the smashing pumpkins perform. They are from my hometown after all: Chicago :)

  • This song is to you. because l`ve been in loved with you since l was a teenager, you know l `ll always love you , but sometimes life`s been so fucking strange , also life`s changed our place, so l just to tell, u . You`ve been the best man in my life.Dany

  • This was always one of my fav SP songs. Billy "understands" ...not everyone does.

  • The pumpkins greatest song

  • forever beautiful.

  • Magic !

  • awsome just awsome

  • I have loved this song since i first heard it when i was a teen (im 29 now), It has always been one of my favorite smashing pumpkin songs. it has been a long time since i heard this song , and now going through some tough personal times , its all i have been listening to. it has such a special place in my heart.

  • im the only teenager out of my friends that wishes they cud go back and live in tha 90's at tha age i am now

  • @akidnamedcudi69 im the same

  • Speak to me in a language i can hear!!!

  • rly artistic

  • this video is rly kewl

  • EPIC !

  • I'm 29 - the Pumpkins are still my favorite band.

  • this music has actully saves lives. the only thing that rap and pop music has done has killed people and make people oblivious to wat real music with meaning is. I LOVE SP. (im only 14 but i only like 60's70's80's rock and 90's grundge)

  • I'm only 15 and reading all of these comments makes me jealous. I would kill to go back in time and experience the Pumpkins at their peak... Such an amazing song and video.

  • @RaccoonSnunkWolf1011 It was an amazing time.

  • @RaccoonSnunkWolf1011 I'm 28 and remember these guys at their peak, and believe me, it was an incredible ride. I suppose it could be likened to being young and being around during the time of The Beatles or Led Zeppelin at their peak (as an example, of course). I wish that all four original members could settle their differences and go on a REAL tour. But, I suppose we'll take what we can get. Billy Corgan is sort of like the Roger Waters of SP--he wrote most of the lyrics and songs, etc.

  • ahh the 90's. i was a young rebellious coming of age youth who wasted away many hours just hanging out with my friends in my suburban neighborhood. the smashing pumpkins were the perfect soundtrack to my life, and whenever i listen now a days, it always takes me back. Ah how i miss those days, and yet it's like i had it so good then but never really knew how good i had it. the 90's was such a awkward decade, it felt like time was on a standstill, those days seemed like they would never end.

  • I am 28 and have listened to them since hearing Today back in 1992-bought Siamese Dream than went back and got Gish-Both albums were and still are great-than MCIS came out and shattered all my thoughts on song writing and musical beauty in rage, sadness, and love-

  • I'm only 13, and yet I can say that I've known songs by Smashing Pumpkins ever since I can remember. (Mom was a huge fan back in the day) I'm glad to say she was. SP brings back so many good memories... Especially this song and 1979.. They just take me back to when I was a little kid.. *sigh* But we all get older. But as they say in the song, "You can make it last forever" And this song did.

  • man i still love the pumkins

  • I've been listening to Smashing Pumpkins off and on since i was 13, siamese dreams, THE WHOLE Album is a hit for me. Every Album is great, i'll be 32 soon, ALREADY!!! wow, enjoy your time.... it is fleeting.

  • AND I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS MOMENT BETWEEN ME AND YOU MY homes

not excepted by the white or the brown.... tuff fuck! munya! love you

  • yet another song i'd like played at my funeral... but not for a few years yet...

  • I'm a real HC/punk fan from back in the day, but this beautiful song always knows how too touch me

  • so i pull my collar up and face the pain on my own.... poetry.... quite simply.

  • I first heard the Smashing Pumpkins when I stayed over at my babysitter's house when I was a little kid, and her son and his friends would hang out and listen to their CDs. Whenever I hear songs from SP it takes me back to being a little kid in the 90's. They still remain my favorite band and whenever I listen to their music I just smile to myself and get lost in a nostalgic travel back in time.

  • this is perfection... true art...

  • thank you SP for making this song..it takes me back every time i listen to it. i love this song

  • This song and video are a masterpiece!!! <3

  • i was 10 years old when i heard my first smashing pumkins song.... it was the song 1979, i instanly fell in love with the song. it was my brother's cd he didnt let me mess with his cds... so i would sneak around him and lissten to the cd mellon collie and the infinate sadness.. there still my favorite band!!

  • I am 15 I've been listening to these guys since I was about 4 (thank you so much big sister) and have always loved their music. It connects to so many peoples' lives. I can't really explain it in words how much and what their songs make you feel.

  • i got about a minute 30 into this and i feel like i got brain raped just trying to follow it.

  • i was blessed to see this live, this is my favorite song of all time...because it descibes me,my life as well as many others & i will always believe in love, though it may seem ending, we control our life ...33... thanks for posting!

  • This song is great and the video is a masterpiece!

  • makes me miss the days before music went to crap.

  • i was 17 when i first heard this song and now im 32 and this song and the smashing pumpkins are still relevant to what people feel and go though on a day to day basis. We're crazy, angry, happy, sad, melancholy , etc, etc,.

  • @erickdraven123 1978? me too

  • @erickdraven123

    Kinda 'duh' there...

  • @erickdraven123 you and me bro...1995 is alive and kicking !!!

  • @erickdraven123 i'm 29 now and i know exactly what you mean! it's comforting to know that the Pumpkins and Billy Corgan's music are always gonna be there. like a friend that you've know for ages!

  • Face the pain on your own!

  • Fuck bieber this is when music was real, im 20 but i still love me some pumpkins,,who cares about new shit i can listen to today, everyday<3

  • okay so when is vevo gonna take over TSP vids. i really prefer watching a geico advert before the video starts.

  • "Tomorrow's just an excuse away

So I pull my collar up and face the pain."

Those are about the saddest lyrics ive ever heard.

  • @seanathin382

I believe he says "face the cold."

  • @seanathin382 It's face the cold! :D

  • why doesn't this have more views? one of their very best songs, if you ask me

  • All time favorite music video!

  • interesting... and interestingly name 33.... degrees maybee... it sounds and looks like they are talking about something along those lines... its just deep as fuck @.@

  • Classic and timeless; simply a masterpiece

  • Those people who voted thumbs down don't know real music

  • See you at SSMF next month!

  • this song....this video...its just gonna last forever....no one could ever get tired of earing this masterpiece

  • This is the first song i ever heard of the smashing pumpkins... i fell inlove with them to this song. Theyr amazing

  • Does anyone else think Billy Corgan kinda looks like Micheal Ian Black?

  • @bassist448 Check out the resemblance between billy and kirsten dunst. there is an excellent video showing it.

  • Excellent Video...I Love The Smashing Pumpkins...

  • Tomorrow is just an excuse away...so fucking deep man. No one does it better than the Smashing Pumpkins.

  • I went to a sound competition, this guy who took second place built himself two sub cabinets loaded 4 x 12 inch JL speakers into each cab. He blasted this song so fuckin loudly. I was deaf for a day after.

  • I tried to get a ticket but they are sold out :(

  • one of the songs I love.... thanks for making it.

  • why the hell does this video only have 288,420 views? there's something very wrong with this number of views....

  • @tolkienpwns Heard that man

  • This song was the song that let me know the Pumpkins had matured and reached a level where things could only go downhill. That is just how perfect this song is!

  • Comment removed

  • @mrhoffame and when he was feeling all this pain he felt that life was meaningless and didn't have the will to go on (tomorrow's just an excuse away). oh yeah and he tried to forget about the pain by doing things (and for a moment i lose myself, wrapped up in the pleasures of the world) but it didn't work because the pain was still there (i've journeyed here and there and back again). ok that's all, i just want to say again that this song is beautiful and the video is surreal and lovely......

  • @mrhoffame billy said on VH1 it was about his divorce with courtney love i think? he had to move out of his apartment (as the cluttered streets greet me once again). he's hurt by this breakup and believes that maybe they can still hold on to whatever love is left (and you can make it last). he knows he has to get through this and he has his true friends to turn to blahblahblah.

  • wish my ex knew i felt like this 4 her =( sad ballz

  • best song ever

  • have loved this song since 9th grade which was a long time ago

  • which album is this from??

  • @Limie316 mellon collie and the infinate sadness it acually has a reference at the end with the woman coming out of the star.

  • @mariobro11 oh aye. of course :)

  • :36 looks like a chinese jimmy fallon

  • i remember this video from when i was a kid. they don't really make them like this anymore.

  • Almost as good as Jonas Bros and Beiber....

  • @Bigtime1998 ok i really hope that was a joke

  • Ive always loved their music its just Billy cant sing worth a damn but the music makes up for his voice being off key all the time.

  • @marchofgodzilla ... Billy's voice is signature to the pumpkins, what are you smoking?

  • @JKaiserable Grade A weed, what are you smoking? So your saying the music is as terrible as Billys voice?

  • @marchofgodzilla ... bill's voice is fine..and so it the intrumental sound... they are both awesome, im a pumpkins fan so you're not gonna hear me say bad feedback when it comes to their music... i dont understand how you can say bill's voice is bad, its so original.

  • I love this song!!!

  • this is a great song

  • Time flies whether you're having fun or not! Their second album was out in 1993!

  • this song is the most beautyful song ive ever heard in my life and probly ever will hear in my life when i hear this song it brings back all the forgotten memories i thought were gone but were just clouded over it feels like a new day in my mind

  • I recall Billy saying in an interview something to the effect that he would rather push the band to make really good music even if it causes tension and shortens its life then to put out crap and have the band get along perfectly.

  • God it just makes me so mad that a wonderful band like them disbanded seriously if they had just been together for 5-10 more years I'm sure they could've made 1 or 2 more siamese dreams. They would've been bigger than nirvana and in my opinion even with their current albums they are better cause well nirvana really only became bigger than what they should've become because of kurts death.

  • @BlackTeddies don't wish death upon billy

  • @Jzoomer06 w..what? nowhere in that comment does he wish death upon him.

  • @Jzoomer06 Watchoo talkin bout willis?

  • it sounds like that song from anastasia (the animated movie).. i believe it's.. a Journey To The Past or something like that..

  • i love this song

  • i related to this song, and to this video.

  • i love this song, video is cool, it scares me in some way

  • One of those videos you just want to frame and hang on the wall =)

  • [Prt 1] The music industry no longer allows deep, artistic music like this to be made anymore because it is run by a fraternity that is an offshoot of the Illuminati, and the Illuminati's goal is to corrupt and degrade all forms of human art forms.

  • [Part 2] If you are not aware of the New World Order or the Illuminati (and how they control our modern music industry), please google them or even put them into youtube's search engine. Many people have made hundreds of youtube videos about their influence in the music industry, etc

  • GOD will never leave you no matter wat you do or wat you have done all that matters to Him is you and His Love for you, your Heavenly Father brings you Peace in times of war brings you Mercy always, He will never stop Loving you nothing can separate the Love GOD has for you, He has the Power to set you free, GOD is rich in Hope, He is not done with you He is for you and with you, calling out to you " My dear Beloved don't you understand I'll treat you like you've never sinned" GOD is everlasting

    MATTHEW 12: 31-32

  • Im 19 and I wont lie I only got into them a few years ago, but I love them so effing much, I wish music could be like this now a days, its just so beautiful haha. SP ferever! hah

  • @sillyjason8179 if you like smashing pumpkins you should check out alice in chains, same era a little darker

  • @sillyjason8179 Not to many younger people say that, you keep it up with the good music!!

  • @sillyjason8179 i wish i was 19 again-- be mad while you still can be

  • Oh I know how you feel. I got into them to when i was 14 years old shortly after my grandma died. There music has got me thought some hard and amazing times in my jouney of life so far . I am now 19 years old many phases have come and gone but the Smashing pumpkins and there beautiful music has stayed with me throught the last 5 years. There music is a creative inspiration and will live on forever :)

  • melancolia y una infinita tristesa

  • I LOVE THEM. THEY ROCK!

  • smashing pumpkins...seen them 3 times, and they rocked our world. love them...rock, lyrics...just kick ass.

  • <3 forever

this song means so much for me...

  • Smashing pumpkins For life If you dont like them GTFO

  • @Richteen18 well said sir haha

  • This video looks like one of those art projects in college.

  • the best part is that this song is about jesus, 33 years old

  • I wish I could make this band line up and song last forever..

  • this is the kind of music that helps you fall in love with someone, anyone, everyone

  • there isn't a single song from the pumpkins that i don't like. they're the only band that never grows old to me, but this song and video is definitely in my my top 3. there is just so much emotion conveyed and ya just cant get anymore artsy...musically and visually superb. i would love to thank personally: billy corgan, jimmy chamberland, d'arcy, james iha and whoever made this video.

  • Gorgeous.

  • Wow. I am 32 now and this song takes me back to 18 in a flash. Kind of scary how music can bring up the past and force us to think about things we have not thought about in years. Great tune.

  • the pumpkins are great (still cant figure out what the weird videos are about lol) :D

  • @Gizord1

just random shit, there's never much mean behind most rock

  • @savemyplaylist

Bullshit. Rock/music is nothing without meaning.

    You're missing out.

  • @amsterdamob Most of the time they admit these videos are completely meaningless. Don't look into things that aren't there.

  • @savemyplaylist

    Art is about subjective interpretation.

Pull your head out of your ass.

  • @amsterdamob Then "what does this mean?" is an asinine question. My whole fucking point, shithead.

  • @savemyplaylist

    Oh, come on.

    Im not a shithead!

You're the one who had his head up his ass, hence: "shitty head." Worse than the typical "shithead." This argument is asinine, wouldn't you say? My opinion stinks, your opinion stinks... What the fuck is the point? Hell we probably both like Smashing Pumpkins! But really, you can't say "there is never much meaning behind most rock." Now, I don't know if you were just talking about the videos or the actual music...

    Either way, Art=meaning.

  • @savemyplaylist Lets not get angry on this video mmk? This song is peaceful, lets just enjoy it, for what it means. =)

  • This is probably one of my favorite videos that was done. I just love this whole album because it seems so Victorian! I'm sure it's part of what made me obsessed with Victorian things. Love it. It's bizarre how much one band can contribute to a person. I know that the Pumpkins influenced my hugely but I also feel like they went along with my development and are still developing with me as well, they've supported me as I have them.

  • I love that every frame of this video features a different take.

  • This clip always excites me!

I do not know what happens, remember a while now and never return.

  • Esse clipe me emociona sempre!!

Não sei o que acontece, lembro de um tempo que passou e que não volta mais.

  • its like the pumpkins are in my head

  • I love this. An eccentric desolation, yes? I like the white rabbit at "I can't be late".

  • This looks like one of those art projects you have to do in college.

  • Corgan looks like the vampire in Nosferatu in this one.

  • sem comentário smashing é o melhor

  • This song is beautiful and so amazing it gives me a glimpse into what i think is peace of mind. I love the pumpkins soo much.

  • i reckon it's the frantic almost type writer pace that blends so well with the piano that makes the song.oh and bills vocals are heart warming.33 meself.

  • theres nothing like smashing pumpkins

    theres nothing like smashing pumpkins

    theres nothing like smashing pumpkins

    now i'm at home!

  • oh how i wish the pumkins would get back to their original line up...

  • @yak52aholic Yeah I agree so much. I used to allways think of smashing pumpkins as billy corgan, the asian dude and the chick, but now i kno the asian guys name is james iha

  • @yak52aholic The original lineup means nothing, Billy wrote and recorded 90% of the music anyway. It's just that Billy sucks these days.

  • +1 on the nostalgia here. First summer after finishing school; driving round with no money and nothing to do but drive around.

  • zzz and jjadge I hear you. For some reason this song dredges up painful memories. Even ones before the song came out.

  • This music is rare example of something a song gives us that hurts us to think it may have never been written. You can't say anything but "thankyou."

  • Sharing should be turned off if the video won't play. "Embedding turned off". One star. EMI Fail!

  • This song got me threw one of the hardest moments of my life.. FRESHMAN YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL!

  • Sweet, my Mum loves this song. So do I, reminds me of her. :)

  • simply beautiful...

  • Listened to this when my dad was in hospital - Was in a coma from a really bad case of pneumonia. But I kept listening to this song on repeat and he pulled through. Guess it really is magic :3

  • oh yeah...great pumpkins...deeply in love with them since I was a kid! wish you the best for you and your father greetings from Italy...Sun is shining here!

  • I miss music.....

  • I wish I was in this video, it's so beautful......fairies, fantasy, alice in wonderland, golden era stars......all my favorite things in one video...............by the way, I'm not a smashing pumpkins fan.

  • makes me think of my honey.

  • So beautiful

  • SP are from Chicago.

  • Magical, I have ALWAYS loved this clip. I miss The Pumpkins of old.

  • an absolute work of art in every way shape and form!

  • I like everyone's comments on the interpretation of the lyrics. I agree with doctorphreak, though, it's a form of art, which means it's open to your own interpretation. Pick the one that you like.

Personally, I think it's about facing the difficulties in life, but persevering and continuing on, because at the end of the day, there are people who you care about very much and wish to see again. Or, another way, if you have someone to love, any hardship is worth living through.

  • Wow! Beautiful video. So artistic. I love it!!! Glad I stumbled on this old song.

  • great!

  • Good song...excellent album..really is a sad story to see how the Smashing Pumpkins basically imploded...they had (and still have) such a strong fan base that I was hoping this lineup of Billy, D'arcy, James, and Jimmy would stay together and blow our minds and ears for many more years..but now they're just not the same :(

  • To me, this song is about tenth grade, surrounding by snow banks as tall as me, knowing that I wasn't wanted wherever I'd go; but still feeling I belonged somewhere.

  • This song is about all kinds of stuff. Most good poetry can be interpreted many ways. Take the meaning that makes you happy.

  • can someone explain to me what this song means? i would eally like to know.

  • the song is about suicide tomorrow is just an excuse away supper waiting on the table for me to me it means he looking for a reason to live and after death there is a biblical referance about being seat at a table with your ememeies for supper

  • oooooooh, i thought the song was about going and being a big band around the world and leaving home, but when it comes down to it, your friends and family are the ones who will always be there for you. guess i was wrong. i like my interpretation better, its happier. lol.

  • That is so deep...

  • @liebertbrazer Nah I'd argue it's just about general apathy - apathy at life in general.

  • thats the great thing about music it can mean anything to anyone i tend to look to deep into the meaning of things

  • @Mcpanicfanic It's about the heavy burden of human existence - about wanting to live the dream life but knowing that it's all but impossible.

  • when music was pure and soulful and meaningful!!!!

  • Perfect song
