ah '95, i remember going to the store and buying this Melon collie and the infinate sadness - unlike nowadays we had to wait until release day and that really made an album more special because of the suspense... rushing home to hear it. I'll never forget hearing what for me is the best album of the '90s
Billy Corgan created something so special. his songwriting, his voice and his lyrics were all in their peak. I miss the days when the big music stars actually had artistic thought and passion
Maybe people will think I'm ignorant because I'm 13... but, I grew up with the smashing pumpkins in my ears. I have loved this album since 2nd grade. It brings back so many memories... I still listen to it. On my list of things to do before I die: see the smashing pumpkins perform. They are from my hometown after all: Chicago :)
This song is to you. because l`ve been in loved with you since l was a teenager, you know l `ll always love you , but sometimes life`s been so fucking strange , also life`s changed our place, so l just to tell, u . You`ve been the best man in my life.Dany
I have loved this song since i first heard it when i was a teen (im 29 now), It has always been one of my favorite smashing pumpkin songs. it has been a long time since i heard this song , and now going through some tough personal times , its all i have been listening to. it has such a special place in my heart.
this music has actully saves lives. the only thing that rap and pop music has done has killed people and make people oblivious to wat real music with meaning is. I LOVE SP. (im only 14 but i only like 60's70's80's rock and 90's grundge)
I'm only 15 and reading all of these comments makes me jealous. I would kill to go back in time and experience the Pumpkins at their peak... Such an amazing song and video.
@RaccoonSnunkWolf1011 I'm 28 and remember these guys at their peak, and believe me, it was an incredible ride. I suppose it could be likened to being young and being around during the time of The Beatles or Led Zeppelin at their peak (as an example, of course). I wish that all four original members could settle their differences and go on a REAL tour. But, I suppose we'll take what we can get. Billy Corgan is sort of like the Roger Waters of SP--he wrote most of the lyrics and songs, etc.
ahh the 90's. i was a young rebellious coming of age youth who wasted away many hours just hanging out with my friends in my suburban neighborhood. the smashing pumpkins were the perfect soundtrack to my life, and whenever i listen now a days, it always takes me back. Ah how i miss those days, and yet it's like i had it so good then but never really knew how good i had it. the 90's was such a awkward decade, it felt like time was on a standstill, those days seemed like they would never end.
I am 28 and have listened to them since hearing Today back in 1992-bought Siamese Dream than went back and got Gish-Both albums were and still are great-than MCIS came out and shattered all my thoughts on song writing and musical beauty in rage, sadness, and love-
I'm only 13, and yet I can say that I've known songs by Smashing Pumpkins ever since I can remember. (Mom was a huge fan back in the day) I'm glad to say she was. SP brings back so many good memories... Especially this song and 1979.. They just take me back to when I was a little kid.. *sigh* But we all get older. But as they say in the song, "You can make it last forever" And this song did.
I've been listening to Smashing Pumpkins off and on since i was 13, siamese dreams, THE WHOLE Album is a hit for me. Every Album is great, i'll be 32 soon, ALREADY!!! wow, enjoy your time.... it is fleeting.
I love this band. I got into them to when i was 14 years old shortly after my grandma died. There music has got me thought some hard and amazing times in my jouney of life so far . I am now 19 years old many phases have come and gone but the Smashing pumpkins and there beautiful music has stayed with me throught the last 5 years. There music is a creative inspiration and will live on forever :)

I first heard the Smashing Pumpkins when I stayed over at my babysitter's house when I was a little kid, and her son and his friends would hang out and listen to their CDs. Whenever I hear songs from SP it takes me back to being a little kid in the 90's. They still remain my favorite band and whenever I listen to their music I just smile to myself and get lost in a nostalgic travel back in time.

@erickdraven123 i'm 29 now and i know exactly what you mean! it's comforting to know that the Pumpkins and Billy Corgan's music are always gonna be there. like a friend that you've know for ages!
interesting... and interestingly name 33.... degrees maybee... it sounds and looks like they are talking about something along those lines... its just deep as fuck @.@
I went to a sound competition, this guy who took second place built himself two sub cabinets loaded 4 x 12 inch JL speakers into each cab. He blasted this song so fuckin loudly. I was deaf for a day after.

@mrhoffame and when he was feeling all this pain he felt that life was meaningless and didn't have the will to go on (tomorrow's just an excuse away). oh yeah and he tried to forget about the pain by doing things (and for a moment i lose myself, wrapped up in the pleasures of the world) but it didn't work because the pain was still there (i've journeyed here and there and back again). ok that's all, i just want to say again that this song is beautiful and the video is surreal and lovely......
@mrhoffame billy said on VH1 it was about his divorce with courtney love i think? he had to move out of his apartment (as the cluttered streets greet me once again). he's hurt by this breakup and believes that maybe they can still hold on to whatever love is left (and you can make it last). he knows he has to get through this and he has his true friends to turn to blahblahblah.

I recall Billy saying in an interview something to the effect that he would rather push the band to make really good music even if it causes tension and shortens its life then to put out crap and have the band get along perfectly.
God it just makes me so mad that a wonderful band like them disbanded seriously if they had just been together for 5-10 more years I'm sure they could've made 1 or 2 more siamese dreams. They would've been bigger than nirvana and in my opinion even with their current albums they are better cause well nirvana really only became bigger than what they should've become because of kurts death.

Im 19 and I wont lie I only got into them a few years ago, but I love them so effing much, I wish music could be like this now a days, its just so beautiful haha. SP ferever! hah
Oh I know how you feel. I got into them to when i was 14 years old shortly after my grandma died. There music has got me thought some hard and amazing times in my jouney of life so far . I am now 19 years old many phases have come and gone but the Smashing pumpkins and there beautiful music has stayed with me throught the last 5 years. there isn't a single song from the pumpkins that i don't like. they're the only band that never grows old to me, but this song and video is definitely in my my top 3. there is just so much emotion conveyed and ya just cant get anymore artsy...musically and visually superb. i would love to thank personally: billy corgan, jimmy chamberland, d'arcy, james iha and whoever made this video.
Wow. I am 32 now and this song takes me back to 18 in a flash. Kind of scary how music can bring up the past and force us to think about things we have not thought about in years. Great tune.
You're the one who had his head up his ass, hence: "shitty head." Worse than the typical "shithead." This argument is asinine, wouldn't you say? My opinion stinks, your opinion stinks... What the fuck is the point? Hell we probably both like Smashing Pumpkins! But really, you can't say "there is never much meaning behind most rock." Now, I don't know if you were just talking about the videos or the actual music...
This is probably one of my favorite videos that was done. I just love this whole album because it seems so Victorian! I'm sure it's part of what made me obsessed with Victorian things. Love it. It's bizarre how much one band can contribute to a person. I know that the Pumpkins influenced my hugely but I also feel like they went along with my development and are still developing with me as well, they've supported me as I have them.
i reckon it's the frantic almost type writer pace that blends so well with the piano that makes the song.oh and bills vocals are heart warming.33 meself.
@yak52aholic Yeah I agree so much. I used to allways think of smashing pumpkins as billy corgan, the asian dude and the chick, but now i kno the asian guys name is james iha
Listened to this when my dad was in hospital - Was in a coma from a really bad case of pneumonia. But I kept listening to this song on repeat and he pulled through. Guess it really is magic :3
oh yeah...great pumpkins...deeply in love with them since I was a kid! wish you the best for you and your father greetings from Italy...Sun is shining here!
I wish I was in this video, it's so beautful......fairies, fantasy, alice in wonderland, golden era stars......all my favorite things in one video...............by the way, I'm not a smashing pumpkins fan.
I like everyone's comments on the interpretation of the lyrics. I agree with doctorphreak, though, it's a form of art, which means it's open to your own interpretation. Pick the one that you like.
Personally, I think it's about facing the difficulties in life, but persevering and continuing on, because at the end of the day, there are people who you care about very much and wish to see again. Or, another way, if you have someone to love, any hardship is worth living through.
Good song...excellent album..really is a sad story to see how the Smashing Pumpkins basically imploded...they had (and still have) such a strong fan base that I was hoping this lineup of Billy, D'arcy, James, and Jimmy would stay together and blow our minds and ears for many more years..but now they're just not the same :(
To me, this song is about tenth grade, surrounding by snow banks as tall as me, knowing that I wasn't wanted wherever I'd go; but still feeling I belonged somewhere.
the song is about suicide tomorrow is just an excuse away supper waiting on the table for me to me it means he looking for a reason to live and after death there is a biblical referance about being seat at a table with your ememeies for supper
oooooooh, i thought the song was about going and being a big band around the world and leaving home, but when it comes down to it, your friends and family are the ones who will always be there for you. guess i was wrong. i like my interpretation better, its happier. lol.
I LOVE this song. Takes me back whenever I hear it! I am 32 now, and remember listening to it as a teenager

GOD will never leave you no matter wat you do or wat you have done all that matters to Him is you and His Love for you, your Heavenly Father brings you Peace in times of war brings you Mercy always, He will never stop Loving you nothing can separate the Love GOD has for you, He has the Power to set you free, GOD is rich in Hope, He is not done with you He is for you and with you, calling out to you " My dear Beloved don't you understand I'll treat you like you've never sinned" GOD is everlasting

there isn't a single song from the pumpkins that i don't like. they're the only band that never grows old to me, but this song and video is definitely in my my top 3. there is just so much emotion conveyed and ya just cant get anymore artsy...musically and visually superb. i would love to thank personally: billy corgan, jimmy chamberland, d'arcy, james iha and whoever made this video.

Wow. I am 32 now and this song takes me back to 18 in a flash. Kind of scary how music can bring up the past and force us to think about things we have not thought about in years. Great tune.

Bullshit. Rock/music is nothing without meaning.

@amsterdamob Most of the time they admit these videos are completely meaningless. Don't look into things that aren't there.

Art is about subjective interpretation.
Pull your head out of your ass.
amsterdamob 1 year ago
@amsterdamob Then "what does this mean?" is an asinine question. My whole fucking point, shithead.
savemyplaylist 1 year ago
@savemyplaylist
Oh, come on.
Im not a shithead!
Either way, Art=meaning.

@savemyplaylist Lets not get angry on this video mmk? This song is peaceful, lets just enjoy it, for what it means. =)

@yak52aholic Yeah I agree so much. I used to allways think of smashing pumpkins as billy corgan, the asian dude and the chick, but now i kno the asian guys name is james iha
b0w13nspac3 1 year ago
@yak52aholic The original lineup means nothing, Billy wrote and recorded 90% of the music anyway. It's just that Billy sucks these days.

neil1963creed 1 year ago 5

Mcpanicfanic 1 year ago
the song is about suicide tomorrow is just an excuse away supper waiting on the table for me to me it means he looking for a reason to live and after death there is a biblical referance about being seat at a table with your ememeies for supper
liebertbrazer 1 year ago
oooooooh, i thought the song was about going and being a big band around the world and leaving home, but when it comes down to it, your friends and family are the ones who will always be there for you. guess i was wrong. i like my interpretation better, its happier. lol.
