Years ago, having heard of the fame of the St Matthew Passion I set out to get a copy. I bought the Klemperer. I can only have listened to it half a dozen times. I had always been disappointed, but I now see that it was Klemperer that was the problem.

Since finding this version a couple of weeks ago I have had it on daily and am overwhelmed by its beauty. I played the first few pieces to my 8-yr-old daughter and we had precious moments together: both affected.

@Tenorlyrico89 Otto Klemperer was the father of Werner Klemperer, who played Colonel Klink in the TV sitcom "Hogan's Heroes". LOL But Werner was also a talented violinists and pianist.
